Megan Elizabeth
September 12, 2007 @ 9:18am
7lbs 14oz & 20 in long
September 15, 2007 -- Birth Story
Well, Megan Elizabeth is here. I thought she was never going to get here!! I was at a friend's house on Tuesday night and my contractions started at 9:35pm. They started out pretty hard and five minutes apart. I thought it might have been false labor so I timed them for about one hour before I decided it was time to go home and rouse the house. I went home and tried to convince my mother (and myself) that it was just false labor so I waited around another 30 minutes before I called the doctor. By this time my contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart so I decided not to wait on my doctor and go on into the hospital since it was 45 minutes away. I woke up my husband and called the friends who were going to watch Melanie for me. We got Melanie to their house and then finally started for the hospital. We got there at about 12:30 am and they put the monitor on me and found my contractions were pretty intense and 2 minutes apart. They check me and I was already 4cm dilated!! I was admitted and then I asked for my epidural!! I got my epidural at about 2 am and they checked me again and I was 6 cm dilated. Unfortunately the epidural slowed my contractions down so it took me until 8:30am to get fully dilated. The nurse had me do a couple of practice pushes while we were waiting on my doctor. Then she told me to stop because the baby was coming. By this time my epidural had mostly wore off in my abdomen so I was feeling my contractions A LOT. The weird thing was that the more the epidural wore off in my abdomen, the more numb my feet got! That really sucked. Anyway, my doctor got there at about 9 am and got set up. I pushed through 3 contractions (about 10 minutes) and Megan arrived! I tore a little because she didn't just come out head first. She came out head and fist first! I had to get three stitches. Not bad for pushing a 7lb 14oz baby out so fast she didn't even get a cone head!!! She was 20in long and absolutely perfect. My mom got to cut the cord. All in all...it was an easy labor and an even easier delivery!
September 1, 2007
Well, I made it to September so she can come anytime now!! I am well and truly ready to be done! My AC broke again last week and was out for 5 days. It was 5 days of pure hell!! My left hand is mostly numb. I guess the swelling I am having is pressing on a nerve in my elbow and it causes the last three fingers and the whole side of my hand to go numb. It started out just sometimes, but now it's all of the time and the only cure is delivery. I have lost most of the strength in my hand, it is getting harder to even open a soda bottle. It seems like most of my symptoms that had gone away are coming back. I am getting more nauseous, itchy, and my restless legs have started to bother me again. Sorry for the complaining, but I am just ready. I got her room done and it looks adorable. I will try to take some pictures and post them up. I went to the doctor yesterday and she checked me and said my cervix was soft and I was dilated to between a fingertip and 1cm. This is a new experience with me. With my first, I was told I was closed and hard and she scheduled me to be induced b/c she said I would never go on my own. I delivered my daughter 4 days later on my own. So I guess we'll see if I can dilate just as fast with this one. I wouldn't mind having her this weekend!! I hope everyone is doing well and best of luck to everyone nearing the end!!!
August 17, 2007
Today is my last day of work!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! I can actually go home and relax until Megan decides to make an appearance! Hopefully sometime between September 1-4!!
August 10, 2007
Everything turned out great. Megan kidneys are fine. The ultrasound tech said she could see absolutely nothing wrong with her. I did get freaked out a little bit because all my doctor's office told me was that one kidney was bigger than the other. When I got into the little room yesterday, the tech started talking about fluid around/in the kidneys which is way worse. Damn doctor's office!!! Anyway, Megan is measuring about 5lbs 14oz and the tech re-estimated my due date at Sep 5th. So if I have her around my new due date, then she should be between 8-9 lbs. If I go to my original due date, the OMG she will probably be between 10-11lbs. I pray that my doctor likes me more than that! Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers while I was stressing out so bad. I really appreciate it!!
August 8, 2007
Well, I thought it was my last ultrasound, but I guess not. I just found out yesterday that on my last ultrasound Megan's kidneys were two different sizes. I have no idea what this could mean, but I have to go in to a new ultrasound place and get another level 2 ultrasound to re-check things. I am praying that everything is ok. I go tomorrow at 1pm (California time) for the ultrasound and then I see my doctor on Friday at 1:45pm. I don't know if then ultrasound place will tell me anything so I may have to wait until Friday to get the results. As I'm sure most of you can imagine...I am completely stressing out until then!!
July 24, 2007
OMG!! OMG!! I am so excited. I had a really bad day at work and when I got home, my husband had gone shopping with my daughter and they bought a cup with the name Megan on it! He finally agreed! I get to name her Megan!!!!!! So we finally have a name for our little angel.
Megan Elizabeth

I got my last ultrasound yesterday! She (yes I got my 4th confirmation that she is a she!!) is doing great!! She is still measuring big. I was 31 wk 6 days yesterday and she was measuring 33 wks 1 day! The circumference of her head was measuring 34 wks!!! That doesn't sound fun!! They calculated her weight at 4lbs 9oz. I think I am in for a big baby which is not surprising. She is head down and my doctor says I am carrying low. Maybe I will go early? I tried to get a 3-D ultrasound last friday, but she was to far head down and half of her face was hidden so we didn't go through with it. I am getting so excited, but I am so nervous! She is actively bouncing around as I type and I just can't wait to meet this little one. We are no closer to a name which sucks, but hopefully we can decide on one soon! I hope everyone is doing well!!
July 10, 2007
Well a lot has happened since the last update. My mom got in ok and my husband is finally home. I have gotten my baby shower set up for August 11th and my last day of work set up for Aug 31st. Things are going pretty good. I am still sick feeling after almost everytime I eat. I think I have finally accepted that I will be sick my entire pregnancy. My daughter's b-day is in a couple of weeks and I am planning that now. She wants to have a party at the bowling alley. I guess that would save me from having to clean up after a bunch of 6-7 yr old girls which is always a bonus! Still getting settled into the new house. We went this weekend and bought a new fridge and an island for the kitchen. We are still no closer to picking a name for this little one. It is seriously starting to irritate me that my husband is being such a butthead!! Two more months left!!!
June 24, 2007
Well, I seem to have a momentary reprieve from the drama. I had a busy but productive weekend. Most of my mom's furniture is done and put together. Almost all of my boxes are unpacked. I finally got DISH installed (Although I had to pay $564 to get cable drops installed in the house to get it). And I hopefully will have my car back by Wednesday or Thursday. Everything is actually going right for a change. I keep waiting on the axe to fall and stuff to fall apart again! My mom will be here in 4 days and my husband will be home in 9 days! I can't wait! I just want to completely pass out! I am so tired and now I am having trouble sleeping at night. I scheduled my 3-D/4-D ultrasound for July 13th. I am so excited to get it done. For my husband and my mom, this will be the first ultrasound they have gotten to see of my little one. My daughter will be there as well and she is excited because she hasn't gotten to see her baby sister since I was 16 weeks because she was not allowed to go in at the ultrasound place where I had one done at 20 weeks and one at 23 weeks. l hope things are going well for everyone else out there and for anyone who is due close to me...just remember...only a couple more months!!!!!!!!!!
June 18, 2007
I have most of my stuff unpacked and settled in. I still haven't messed with most of my mom's furniture. I need to get that done next weekend. She gets here in 10 days! I am so excited! My husband gets home in 16 days! I CAN'T WAIT!!! I am so tired of doing things by myself. It seems like everything I touch turns to crap! Right now, I have been in this house for three weeks and I still do not have TV hooked up. I have DISH network and they suck. They have been at my house the last two Saturdays and they still have not hooked me up. Now I have to switch to cable TV and they can't come out until July 3rd. Plus even though DISH cannot hook me up where the owner of the house will agree to, I still have to pay to be let out of my contract. So on top of paying installation for cable, I have to pay DISH $200 to stop my service. I am so irritated with the whole TV issue. Plus, my car is broke and I don't know when I will get it fixed. My A/C was broke in the house but I got that fixed. My toilet was broke, but I got that fixed. Everything keeps breaking! I just can't wait until my husband comes home. I know that everything will stop breaking as soon as he gets home. Only two more weeks. I can make it. I can make it. I can make it.
June 1, 2007
Well, the movers came yesterday and moved all of my stuff. So I have to unpack the new house and clean the old house and then I can rest for a little bit. I am so tired. I didn't think that watching movers move stuff and putting some stuff away would wear me out so much! I slept at a friend's house last night so I didn't have to unpack my linens, and I only got two hours of sleep. I can barely keep my eyes open! At one point last night, my daughter (sharing a queen size bed which should have been plenty big enough), turned sideways in the bed and used my stomach for a pillow. At 1:30 in the morning I gave up trying to sleep in the bed and went downstairs to the couch where her cat kept me up for most of the remaining 4 hours until my alarm went off. So anyway, wish me luck with speedy unpacking. If anyone has an unpacking fairy they would like to loan out I would be more than grateful!!! Hope all of you are doing great and enjoying your pregnancies!
Oh yeah, BTW...I went to for my 6 month check-up on Wednesday and I have lost 5 more lbs. That brings total weight loss to around 30 lbs. My husband is going to be so mad!!!!
May 23, 2007
So I gave my husband a list of five names to chose from and he doesn't like any of them. I swear he is doing this just to be a butt head! The names are (in my preferred order)
Megan, Morgan, Maranda, Makayla (McKayla) and Meredith
Her middle name will be Elizabeth after my grandmother. What do you guys think? Have any other little girl "M" names to share? Please help!!!
May 18, 2007
I got the second part of my level 2 ultrasound yesterday. I had to go back since she was not being very cooperative the last time I was there. But, she must have been in a good mood yesterday b/c she gave us every shot we wanted! I finally got a profile picture! YAY! I am WAY paranoid so I had him check to make sure she was still a she and she is! I guess since I have been told girl at 16 weeks, 21 weeks and 23 weeks I should believe it now?! She was very active and moving around, but the tech was able to get all of the pics he couldn't last time so I don't have to go back again. This is my last weekend of peace an quiet for awhile. Next weekend I have to pack, the weekend after that I have to move, the weekend after that my stepson leaves to go back to his mom's so I will have a completly distraught 6 yr old on my hands who misses her brother. Then I have the next two weekends to get the house in some sort of order for my mom to get here the last weekend in June. Then I am sure she will want to change things around so there will be more moving around until my husband comes home and then he will want to change things and then my daughter's 7th birthday party still needs to be planned and executed by July 25th. All of that while still working 40 hours a week. WHEW! I want to take a nap from just writing all of that!!!
May 12, 2007
I GOT A HOUSE! I am so excited! I looked at this house about a month ago and absolutely loved it, but the owners would not allow my cat. Well, the house was still vacant, so I tried again and they agreed! I put my application in on Friday and they called me back within 1 hour to tell me everything was approved! It was kinda funny, I had just got done looking at a different house with a different rental company. I go in on Monday to pay my deposit and set up my move in date. Man I am so excited! I want to move in NOW! I know I should probably wait until June 1st to save a little bit move money, but now that I actually have a house, I don't want to wait! This house is perfect! It is a little over 3000 sq ft with a huge kitchen and a huge downstairs bedroom for my mom! The master bedroom is big with a HUGE bathroom and even HUGER walk in closet and it is separated from the other 3 bedrooms and they are all upstairs. I can't wait!
Well, I hope everyone's weekend goes great and I wish all of the mothers and mothers-to-be a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I finally bought the crib this week. It is the Olivia crib from J.C. Penney! I love it and I got a awesome deal on it. It is one of those fully convertible cribs and it was only $199!
May 6, 2007
Well, I am finally getting over my cold/sinus issues. I was put on Entex and Zofran. And they have helped so much. I was actually able to eat some dinner tonight. Not a whole lot, but some and that is an improvement. When I went for my 5 month checkup on Friday, I had lost almost 10 more pounds. So that takes my total weight loss to about 20-25 pounds. Man was my husband not happy to hear that! I have been really worried about my little one, but she hasn't stopped being active so I guess I should calm down. I have to go back to work tomorrow and that is going to suck after having 4 days off. Even though I didn't move very far from my couch on those 4 days, it was still a much needed break from work!
May 1, 2007
I had my level 2 ultrasound yesterday and everything went great. Well sort of. My daughter was being a bit of a booty again and for the first half of the appt, she would not lay still. They tech was having a hard time getting the measurements! Then when he needed her to roll over to get a different angle, she just stopped moving! I really hope this is not any indication of her true demeanor! I had the tech double check and yes she is still a she! I was supposed to have been 20 wks 4 days as of yesterday and she was measuring at 21 wks 4 days, so when I go to the doctor, I will see if she is going to move my due date up. If so, then it will be Sep 6th. Like I said before though...it doesn't really matter...she will come when she wants to! I told my mom about the possibility of a new due date and now she wants me to shoot for Sep 4th b/c it's my brother's b-day. I told her I would see what I could do but no promises!
Aprl 26, 2007
20 weeks today!!! But the eating problems continue. I am still not able to eat very often and when I do eat, it's not very much. All I had to eat yesterday was a glass of carnation instant breakfast, a salad and a couple of pieced of bruchetta for lunch and for dinner I had 2 small pieces of one of those Jeno's frozen pizza's (about 1/4 of it) and I had to force those down. So far today I have had a granola bar and a salad. I seem to do a little better during the day, but at night I REALLY don't want to eat. I found out today that I will have to move out of my house b/c there is water damage (and some other gross stuff) to the ducts under my house. I was planning on moving anyway, but now I will have to do it as soon as possible. The only good thing about the quick move is that the military will move me now instead of me having to move myself. The Days of Frenchy's Life saga continues!!
April 23, 2007
Just a quick note to tell everyone that I just got the results of my AFP, triple screen, quad screen or whatever else it is called back and everything was normal!!! YAY! I am so relieved! Man if I wasn't pregnant I would go home and have a bottle of wine to celebrate!!!!!
April 22, 2007
I hope everyone's weekend is going great. I have been doing pretty good so far, with the exception of my two neighbors who feel the need to mow their yards at 8:30 in the morning every weekend! And of course one usually mows on Saturday and one mows on Sunday. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow so I am really looking forward to sleeping in!! A few days ago, it seemed like my pregnant belly went away (my flabby belly was still there!), but the very next day, it came back bigger than ever. Since then my little one has become so feisty! I think I even felt her move from the outside tonight. I assumed that it felt like my belly went away was because she was laying differently in there, but I never expected her to go all Rambo on me! I even felt my first bladder kick. Of course since it was the first, I thought it was cute, but I'm sure it won't be so cute soon! I hope all of you are enjoying your pregnancy even if it hasn't been the best so far. I know I am.
April 19, 2007
To anyone who is or has been reading my page...I am starting to feel a little better about life in general. Crap is still happening one thing after another, but I think I am finally becoming numb to it all. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but my mood has improved so I will go with good thing for now. I am 19 weeks today. I can't believe that I am almost halfway done!! Still haven't agreed on a name, I am still trying to convince my husband that she should be Megan Elizabeth. I absolutely love that name. Plus, I think it fits...it just sounds right. I still have 4 more months to change his mind for him.
April 17, 2007
Still not much luck with things going my way. My morning sickness has somewhat gone away again, but now I am back to not wanting to eat anything. Today I had a biscotti and and granola bar for lunch. I am still really tired and stressed out and if one more person tells me not to stress I think I am going to SCREAM!!! That's all my husband keeps telling me..."you shouldn't stress so much, it's not good for you or the baby." REALLY?! Do you think I like doing this to myself? I just want to smack him and anyone else who dares cross my path. Does anyone else sense the anger? If you couldn't tell, the emotions are not diminishing AT ALL!! God help my kids, the poor things are learning to read my facial expressions and stay out of my way. My daughter is trying to bride me into a good mood. She offers to rub my feet when she knows I am grumpy. Then I get the "you're the best mommy ever!" comments. She knows me well, that always gets me in a better mood! I get to go look at another house next week. I think I would feel a lot less stressed out if I could just find a house and get moved. Wish me luck!
April 10, 2007
I have had such a hard couple of days. I am so stressed out and and emotional. All I wanted to do is talk to my husband yesterday and I called to be connected (he is still overseas) 1 hour early so they wouldn't connect me. I was sitting at my desk and it was taking all of my willpower not to cry. So far today is not going any better. I threw up this morning. It had been almost 3 weeks since last time, and I thought I was over it. I guess stress doesn't help. I had plans for this afternoon and now they are falling apart. I am still so emotional that all I want to do is go back home and crawl in bed and cry and I still have not got to talk to my husband. Anyone else have days like that? The only good thing about yesterday is I got my big ultrasound scheduled. It is April 30th. So I guess that's when I get to see if the doctor is moving my due date up. I guess it really doesn't matter, she is going to come whenever she wants no matter what the doctor says right?!
April 8, 2007
Well, I had my 4 month check up on Friday. Everything is going great except that I lost more weight. I've only lost 15 lbs so far but my stomach is getting so big that I think I've lost more than that, I am just losing from other areas and gaining back in my stomach at the same time. Oh well, I could stand to lose more than a few lbs! My little girl is still not cooperating with the doppler. I have still not heard her heart beat except on ultrasound. The doctor tried for a few minutes with the doppler, but my little girl just kept kicking the doppler (I could hear that!!) and then moving away. The doctor finally pulled the ultrasound machine in and we saw her just doing some weird twichy dance inside there! The doctor talked about moving my due date up again, but she wants to wait until I get my next ultrasound which will be sometime in the next three weeks. She is talking about 1 week up. I'm cool with that!
April 2, 2007
So I have a girl name picked out, but my husband won't agree. I absolutely love the name Megan Elizabeth. I just think it fits perfectly. So I guess I have 5 months to convince my husband? Here's a question...We already have a Michael and a Melanie. Is it totally cheesy to have another "M" name? Here's a stupid question...If we decide to go with anything other than an "M", do you think the kid would notice? It's crazy the things you actually think about...
March 31, 2007
OMG!!! It's a girl!!! I was convinced it was a boy! Not very many people in my family or my husband's family have more than one girl! It is very rare. I was so shocked that I asked the guy if he was serious. I said "are you sure? Do you have a good enough angle to really tell?" He looked at me like I was stupid and told me yes. She was being a booty most of the ultrasound and had her back to us, but at the very end she finally turned around. Her heart rate was 150 and she was beautiful!
March 29, 2007
Yay! 16 wks today. I am so excited. I get my ultrasound to find out the sex tomorrow. Then me and a whole group of my friends are all going out for dinner for my b-day! Even though my husband isn't here I guess my b-day won't suck so bad after all!
March 23, 2007
So I am 15 wks, 1 day as of today. This is my second baby. My daughter is 6 yrs old. I have a 14 yr old stepson. It works out kinda funny. By the time the baby is born, there will be 7 years between each of the kids! Since it's been so long since I did this before, it's just like the first time again. Plus this pregnancy is way different than my last one. With my daughter, I wasn't nauseous but I threw up all the time. I lost 25 lbs in 2 1/2 months. This time I am constantly nauseous and throw up occasionally. I have lost about 10 lbs. I am also getting bigger WAY quicker. I know that is normal, but OMG!!! I had my first ultrasound at 13 weeks b/c the doctor couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler. Talk about a scary couple of minutes! But I got to see my little one with his/her heart just beating away!! The doctor is already talking about moving my due date up b/c the baby is already bigger than he/she is supposed to be!! That's a totally scary thought! My daughter was 8lbs 4oz and 1 week early. I am so afraid that I am going to have a huge-normous baby! My stepson was 11 1/2 lbs when he was born. I have already threatened my husband with his manhood if he does that crap to me!! I get my next ultrasound on my birthday March 30th. I cannot wait!! My husband is overseas until July right now so I am just going to take the kids with me so they can find out if they are getting a baby brother or sister first! If you couldn't guess, I am a military wife and my husband leaves for 4 months at a time. I am luckier than some who's husbands go for a LOT longer. About three weeks ago, my mom decided to move in with us! I am so excited! She wasn't here for my daughter's birth (she came 3 weeks after). I am so glad she will get to be here for this one. She is moving out in June. So now, on top of being pregnant and alone with two kids, I have to go house hunting and move all by myself! That sucks! Oh well, I am sure many pregnant women have been through these kind of things many, many times. I just get short periods of "oh sad me" time. I get over it! I hope to hear from some of you. I'd love to talk to people who had similar due dates! Have a great day and I will post when I (hopefully) find out the sex!!
