02/26/08- Feeling much better- Thank Goodness! I'm in my 13th week and doing great. I got to remember to eat small meals often or I get a little sick to my stomach. I didn't think going without food would feel so bad!
Jimmy and I went to the Maternal-Fetal Specialist today as recommended by my OB/GYN. It went swell. I had a level 1 screening and nuchal translucency test done. From what the ARNP said, our risk is less than 25% that our child will Downs. Not quite sure what kinda results those are, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. And because I turned 35 last month, I'm of Advanced Maternal Age- what the hell? That's ridiculous! They should definitely change the guidelines and bump that age limit right up! Anywhoey, the US went well. The baby looked good, bones are definitely forming- Jimmy and I saw the outline of the skull, arms, spine, and legs- very cool. And the tech printed out some pictures for us to take home. I haven't really gained any weight as of yet, probably only about 5 pounds, but I haven't had the desire to stuff myself. I think the body let's us know when to eat- baby or no baby. Anywhoey- 13th week half way through!
02/19/08- 9pm- I had a 345pm appt with the OB today and didn't get to see her until 515! She told me I was going to stay home for a week to rest, gave me an antibiotic and attempted to find FHT with a handheld doppler without success. And since the sonographer had already left for the day, she sent me (STAT) to the hospital for a sonogram. Needless to say, everything's fine (FHT present at 160) but I didn't have my tylenol with me when I went to my appt and when i got home it was 99.9 :( So I'm back on the tylenol kick! Woo-hoo!
02/19/08- after a joyous night of coughing, blowing my honker, and waking up every 4 hours to take my temp and take tylenol- I finally broke my fever! This morning I woke up in drenched sheets and my temp was 97.9! Yah!
02/18/08- I was in the ER early this morning. I spiked a fever above 102 and decided a trip to the ER was in order after speaking to my OB. I've also been throwing up (not ms) after most coughing fits. When I arrived at the ER, my temp had skyrocketed a whole point! They started an IV (i got two liters of fluid), gave me some zofran, drew blood ( all normal ) and gave tylenol suppostories (joy!) Unfortunately, my fever spiked back up twice, they gave me more tylenol and sent me home. They called it flu symptoms and viral. My fever at home spiked up on me several times as well. I got a tepid sponge bath from my DH and have been taking tylenol every four hours. I've still got a temp and I'm trying to battle it. Wish me luck! I see my OB tomorrow for follow up.
02/15/08- Had another ultrasound today- thankfully it was transabdominally and not the other (eew!). Everything's fine- nice heartbeat, baby's moving around trying to seek a quiet spot away from the bouncing sound waves.
I'm always feeling hungry...is this normal? Sheesh....I've already gained 5 lbs this far.
02/13/08- routine U/S with mom in tow. This wasn't transabdominally...but all was well. Heartbeat about 160. I was hoping to take my ultrasound pictures home with me to show friends and co-workers, but mom stole the pictures! She said she had a right to show off her future and first grandchild! So I acquiesced.
Christmas Day '07- I'm pregnant!
In July of 2006, I had an uterine artery embolization for fibriods and severe hemorrhagic periods. At this point in my life, I wasn't thinking children- I was thinking I would like to not bleed for 3-4 weeks at a time and wear something other than black. This was the least invasive with the quickest recovery time. And, of course, the side effects of this surgery are infertility, loss of ovarian function, hysterectomy and (always the worst) death. Well, I was done with being miserable, having dealt with this problem for 4+ months. The outcome was very successful and allowed me regained my life back, but it knocked out one of my fallopian tubes. I was okay with all of this, but never expected to be where I am at now. So, I'm dealing with the joys of pregnancy and could not be happier!
