My profile

January 23, 2008 - Before heading out to a nice steak dinner with friends, I peed on the stick and found out I was preggo! Quite a surprise indeed! Needless to say, hubby and I were somewhat distracted through most of the dinner. It was kind of hard to focus on anything that was said. We kept catching each other's eye from across the table and smiling a smile of a little kid with a secret. And for the next three months we got very good at keeping our little secret.

Wanting to wait until we had some genetic testing completed, we chose not to tell anyone about the pregnancy until we had all our ducks in a row. It was a very interesting time in our lives. I think it actually brought us even closer in some ways. Having a secret between two people is a very strong bond and it was comforting knowing that it was ours alone.

Finally, in our fourth month of pregnancy, we got the "all clear" on our genetic testing and told our parents and siblings that we were expecting. Everyone was thrilled and of course impressed with our secret-keeping abilities :)

So, with the morning sickness and normal first-trimester fear of miscarriage behind us, we could finally focus on the idea that we were actually going to have a baby! Holy crap! It really does take some getting used to, doesn't it? The whole idea of another human being coming into your lives that will be wholly dependent upon you. After September we will no longer wake in the morning to our own biological clocks. The baby will be the new clock with his own built-in alarm. And from what we hear it will be LOUD and erratic :)

So, it is with great excitement (and a moderate dose of fear) that we venture forth into this new chapter in our lives with open eyes, arms and hearts.

Can't wait to meet you, belly-dweller.

Thanks! I am thinking about getting a membership with the YMCA to start swimming and exercising. All we can do is our best though. The cravings that I have for ice cream are way too hard to ignore.

does it kind of feel like electricity sensation when it pulls? cause i've been feeling that :) That's the only way I can think to describe it!!

You're welcome. We're seriously thinking of getting one too but we have so many limited choices here where I'm at. There's only 1 design for pack n play (no vibrate) and 1 design for contour electra (with vibrate). We really want the pack n play since it has a stroller/carseat/booster package. It'd be awful buying the contour electra in light green and light blue then the pack n play in brown(duh?!?!)

I used my pack n play with my daughter for the first 3 months, but I would only suggest this if your has the bassinet feture that hangs from the top. You don't want to be bending all the way to the floor all the time and she should be at the same level as you when you sleep and have her next to the bed in arms reach. The bottom of the pack n play is too hard also.
Hope this helps.

Hope this helps (us). http://www.babiesonline.com/articles/baby/packnplayoracrib.asp

We're thinking of getting a pack n play as well. We are actually thinking of using it as a crib until the baby gets to be more active. This would be when we'd think it'd be dangerous to leave the baby in it. You think we can only use it for about 2 months? =( I'd hate to spend so much for something I could only use for a short time. It's like 250USD converted here.

Thanks for your comment in my poll. I'd go with that option except that the surname is one that ends in Y also so not sure on it. :)

for heartburn i take 2 rolaids and it does the job. literally the second i lay my head down to sleep each night, the heartburn hits...i pop two berry flavored rolaids, chew, & voila! it gets better. i keep them on my nightstand. for during the day relief, i take tums. hope that might help :)

I feel the same; Fudgie was the best! It's so funny you say your brother got cookie puss, so did mine; he's 32 now, and I'm thinking for his 33rd bday to get him the Cookie Puss cake, LOL!! I'd love to get one for my baby too; they're the best! I think Fudgie is a BEAUTIFUL name for a child; go for it! ;-)

praying4mybaby - Tuesday, 20 May
My friend had a mole removed on her breast while pregnant, and they knocked her out. She birthed a 10 pound baby boy.... if your ob says ok, don't worry =)
