Here is my story....

Married to my DH April 2007. My dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in Sept 2006, which opened my eyes and made me realize how short life can be...so we started TTC in January in 2007. Thinking it would happen right away, I was prepared to be sick with sore BB's on our wedding day. Good timing...no luck. Each month came and went with tons of dissappointment. I lost my dad October 2007 a month before his 61 birthday. We started to get some testing done. My DH got his little swimmers check....lots of them and moving strong! I was scheduled to to have an HSG (check my tubes) in Jan 2008. We decided a change of pace was needed and went Mexico for Christmas. I ovulated the week before we left....I still had a couple of Corona's, went ziplining and swimming in caves...AF was due 3 days after we got back, and it sure felt like she was coming...cramping exactly like AF. New years eve rolled around, and I thought before I hit the red wine I better pee on a stick. I only had a digital test left. In less than 30 sec....PREGNANT. After 11 long months of good/perfect timing....I was shocked. Picked up a few more tests.....BFP! My doctor confirmed with urine and blood the next week. We are due Sept 2008. Excited but nervous, and hoping to make it to 12 weeks with no trouble.

We had our first ultrasound.......WE ARE PREGNANT WITH TWINS!!!!! I am still in complete shock. I had a dream we were having twins and it was in the back of my mind....I put it off as just being silly...i can't believe it.

So I don't think I slept at all last night, I kept thinking about the ultrasound lady telling me I had two babies. Better UP the protien....

Battling a cold the last couple of days......boo. Stuffy nose, sore throat, feeling like crap. Our Valentines Day was not very romantic with me snoring, coughing and blowing my snot every 5 minutes.

Feeling much better today, my cold is just about done. So excited to have made it to 12 weeks. Still hesistant to buy anything yet. Hubby thinks he might want to find out what we are having. I really want to be surprised!

We had another ultrasound today. Both babies are doing really well growing at the same rate (6.4cm to be exact!). Our due date got moved up to Sept 9, so I'm actually 5 days less than I initially thought. Heart rates were: Baby A-165 and Baby B -153. The babies have a membrane between them, which is good, so they can't get tangled in one another.....but they appear to be sharing a placenta. Which means they are probably identical...and the fact that they are sharing a placenta means that they are at greater risk for developing Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome....and makes my entire pregnancy more high risk. One surprise after another! It all makes me quite anxious......

I've officially lost my marbles. I spent almost the entire weekend going through all our belonging and throwing things out. I've decided that we need to minimize our lives.....so I'm on an organization rampage. Is it too soon to be nesting? I've been feeling great. My belly is getting bigger and bigger. My appetite is still really inconsistent although I have been waking up at 2-3am starving. I started drinking Carnation Instant Breakfast with some protien powder before bed.....it gets me through the night beautifully. I'm sticking with high protien, high fat foods. I didn't gain any weight in the first trimester and my doctor would like me to gain 35-40lbs (my entire pregnancy). I want my babies to be as big and healthy as possible!

March 26 - 16 w 1d

Had an appointment today. Gained 7 lbs in 4 weeks. My doctor seemed happy with that. Both babies were very active and moving around when she was trying to find their heart rates (both 165). My utereus is measuring @ 20 wks. So far so good. I have an appointment on April 9 at the high risk clinic with the Peri to monitor for TTTS. Apparently we can expect to have ultrasounds every 2 weeks! Still going to try and keep the sex of the babies a suprise. I have been feeling pretty good, just tired and recently started to have some back pain which is quite annoying....
