May 12, 2008

I went in for my 12 week appointment today. Apparently my doctor's office had called me to cancel my appointment early in the morning but I never got the message. When I showed up for the appointment, they told me that it was cancelled. Apparently the Nurse Practitioner had called in sick. Of course I was furious and holding back the tears. They tried to tell me that they would reschedule me for two weeks down the road. I wasn't having it. After dealing with my wrath for about 15 minutes, they managed to find me an appointment for later on in the day with another Nurse Practitioner. I turned out to be a good thing because I really liked the Nurse Practitioner and I decided to change over to her (at Kaiser you have a doctor and a nurse practitioner and your appointments rotate between them). We got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was about 158 BPS. All of my labwork came back good so now I am just looking forward to my Nuchal Translucancy ultrasound which will be on Monday.

I had a really weird dream last night that I was at the hospital after having my baby. I was waiting around for them to clear a room for me. When the nurse finally cleared a room for me, I realized that I hadn't seen the baby yet. I asked the nurse if I could see the baby so she brought her over and she was so ugly!!!! The baby had a shrunken adult head and even had a long ponytail. I kept arguing with the nurse that it must be a mistake but she kept insisting that it wasn't. Finally I just accepted it. Weird!!!!

I went to visit my grandfather in the hospital today. He has been an alcoholic for many years but my mom and her sisters are forcing him to detox because he is having trouble caring for himself due to a condition that is going on in his brain. As I get older, I really realize how much I don't want to get old as I have watched my grandparents struggle at the end of their lives while trying to maintain some level of dignity. The cycle of life is an amazing thing.

I'm happy to be starting week 10 tomorrow. These nauseating feelings really suck although they do seem to be lessening a bit (knock on wood). We took the girls to Fairytale Town this morning which was really fun. Brianna convinced me to go down the slide with her on my lap. I didn't realize that we would be travelling at mock speed so when we hit the bottom, I couldn't stop. I tossed my daughter to the side on the padded ground as I continued to fall on the asphalt. I jarred my back and my arm a little bit and of course I mooned everybody when my dress flew up. The best part is that of course my hubby got it all on video.

I'm having a really rough night tonight. I've been feeling really nauseated all evening and then Brianna hit Kaly in the face with a toy car and gave her a black eye. Fifteen minutes later she peed in her big girl underpants and all over the bathroom floor. I completely lost it and started screaming at her and then of course I started crying because I felt so bad. Steve is working his second double shift of the week and I am feeling like I am on overload. I am a complete ball of nerves today. I am going to tell Steve tonight that I need to start taking a pre-natal yoga class on the weekend to get away from the house and the kids. I feel like a never have a break. Even when Steve is here, I am here too which means that I never have that chance to get away and re-group. I really need to start doing something for my mental and physical health or I'm not going to be able to handle another child!!!

April 27, 2008

I went in for my first official doctor's appointment...I saw the baby on the ultrasound. Everything looks good. My doctor bumped my due date up 4 days which I was really happy about. I knew that I ovulated really early in my cycle (day 10) which is how I ended up getting pregnant in the first place. My new due date coincides exactly with the day that I ovulated. Counting the days until the first trimester is over because I am so tired of feeling nauseated and exhausted all day!!!!

About my dog Jasmine, she started to feel better the day after she started the antibiotics which baffled the doctor since her white blood cell count was not elevated. She seems to be back to her old self again which is a relief.

April 17, 2008

Today has been a rough day. It is so hard to function and take care of two kids when I am feeling so nauseated all day. My husband is working a double shift which means that he left at 5 am and won't be home until 11pm. I was noticing that my dog hasn't been herself for the past week or so...She has been really lethargic and gagging up some bile now and then. This morning I dragged her in the the vet's office with my 3 year old and 1 year old. They did a Urinalysis and a blood panel but everything came back normal despite her high fever. The doctor gave her some antibiotics but after seeing that her white blood cells are not elevated, she's not sure that the antibiotics will help. She is worried that Jasmine might have cancer. I am suppossed to take her temperature every day for the next few days and see if her fever goes down. If nothing changes, I will take her in next week for chest x-rays to check for cancer. One more stressor that I really don't need right now. My Bullmastiff died from cancer when I was pregnant with my first daughter...I really don't want to go through that again. I am already so anxious and over-emotional as it is.

April 14, 2008

Went in for a doctor's appointment today for a yeast infection that won't go away. They want me to go in for early testing for Gestational Diabetes since I had it with my first pregnancy. I will do that this Friday...hopefully it will all workout alright. On the upside, the Doctor did an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy...the baby was in there and we saw the heartbeat. When I go in next Tuesday, they will do another ultrasound and give me an official due date.

I was very surprised last week to find out that I am pregnant again...I guess that I need to update my page since Kalyssa is now almost 1 year old and Brianna just turned 3. This pics are definitely out of date.

I can't believe that I am headed down this road again. I never particularly loved being pregnant but I guess here we go again!

These pictures were taken shortly after Kalyssa was born...time to update again.

Well, my page wouldn't be complete without a picture of my other baby...

Ha Ha Gigi, I read your story about the cornstarch and I just had to tell you that about a week ago my one year old got into the vaseline. When I got home my husband was at his wits end, Soleil still had vaseline caked in her hair, he had at least cleaned it off of the CARPET and the floor and her body, but he just took her dress off. I finally did the laundry yesterday and saw the mess she had made with that, it was all over! I just LAUGHED!

what a fun place for baby to sleep!

irishbabyfactory - Tuesday, 3 June
Yeah, there are still days we are a little afraid of Soleil, we just throw yogurt covered raisins to her and plead for mercy! Ha Ha! Sometimes she is the SWEETEST little baby, and sometimes I think I am going to have to get the Priest for a good old fashioned Exorcism! She has ALL of us wrapped around her little finger though. All she has to do is give us one little smile and we melt, the older girls included.

I don't know what we do with twins! If this were my first I may want that, but not with number 4! Our 17 months old girl had acid reflux and was VERY colicky, so the 1st 6 months were hard, I think we are bracing for that again, I just can't imagine bracing for 2 babies with acid reflux and colic! I had better stop talking about this, I am going to give myself night terrors!

irishbabyfactory - Tuesday, 3 June
My poor butt looks like it is melting off!
I CAN NOT have twins! That would not be good, I am just going to pretend like you didn't even say that!

irishbabyfactory - Tuesday, 3 June
I know! I looked at your pic and I was like WHAT? You recently had a baby, and now you are blowing my theory that I am so big because Soleil is only 17 months. People keep asking me if I am having twins. I tell them NO, just one baby. Then I get all of the crazy "My cousins, uncles second wife was pregnant and the doc told her she was only having one and then out came 2 babies. They were laying on top of each other!" I kind of want to kick their asses! Ha Ha!

Thanks for your positive message. :-) I do feel like I have a hangover alllll the time with nausea. It's an exhausting feeling. I will keep my chin up and keep telling my fiance to please not take anything personally. He is trying to be understanding.

Hi Gigi, what type of fetal doppler did you buy?

Huffyhedgie - Tuesday, 3 June
I just got back from my doc appt. The good news they found the heart beat and its at 166 BPM. Bad thing is I gained 6 pounds in a month so I have to lay off the cupcakes. grr Went to the store and spent way to much money on healthy food to eat. No wonder Americans are over weight we can't afford to eat healthy.lol
Just incase you didn't read my post.

becky468 - Monday, 2 June
lol, i read your post about the movie. I was the same way. lol. That poor dog why couldn't he live?? I cried for him not for the people.

irishbabyfactory - Monday, 2 June
Ummm, my gestational diabetes was somewhat diet controlled. The only problem was that once I found out I had it, I only wanted to eat ice cream and Cheetos and JUNK food! I swear I turned into Britany Spears : ) Ha Ha!

lilymae - Sunday, 1 June
where did you get the advice for only using your doppler 3 times per week? I have been doing mine everyday. Is that bad, my Dr. said as long as it isnt stressing me out it was okay. I either check it in a.m. or if no time , at night.

LauraJ - Saturday, 31 May
Your pictures are so sweet! Love the dog picture too!! =)

andante - Friday, 30 May
Oh girl, you are SO SWEET! lol Thanks for the happy comment on my belly pic :)

irishbabyfactory - Friday, 30 May
Her mother did NOT have a c-section, which makes me smile a little on the inside Ha Ha! (I am a little mean : ) I have gotten Gestational Diabetes with each pregnancy, which usually means bigger and more broad shouldered babies. For some reason I feel as though I am going to end up with a HUGE baby and needing a c-section this time around, that kind of freaks me out.

tiffluvsandy - Friday, 30 May
nice. did you get any stretch marks? i can't see any your belly looks very pretty. i'll bet brianna loves this picture.

tiffluvsandy - Friday, 30 May

Soooooo cute! Isn't it amazing? I can't stop looking at my u/s pictures... I'm trying to get into my head that there is actually a little person in there! With arms and legs and everything! :-)

aimee21 - Thursday, 29 May
Thank you!! Im still tryingto get my head around it because there was pretty much no chance of this happening so we were not prepared at all! I'm one in a million! lol But we are happy i think :)

irishbabyfactory - Thursday, 29 May
OMG! How big was she? Alexas and Soleil were both about 8 1/2 lbs. They both had little coneheads, but they had so much hair that it wasn't quite as noticable. The hospital caps kept rolling up on their heads though. It was too cute. Tahlia is my stepdaughter so I don't have any great birth stories about her, but she was 11 lbs 9 oz. Soleil (the baby) was 2 1/2 weeks early and 8 lbs 6 oz!! I am afraid of another HUGE baby like Tahlia!
