Wednesday, 2 July Hello! I'm also 42 years old, and 27 weeks along. My doctor sent me for a dating scan at 13 weeks, and then two more since then, which I think is one more than standard for any pregnancy. Not sure if I get one more or none. Certainly not as many as you're having!
This is baby #6 for us. Two of mine were premmies, so I reckon my average confinement is about 35 weeks, which means I hope to carry this one into September, but may not! Mind you, I carried one all the way to 43 weeks - THAT was the longest 3 weeks of my life!! LOL!!
I had my youngest boy nearly 5 years ago, and when I was pregnant the scans showed lots of "markers" for Downs Syndrome, and lung problems, but he was born at 37 weeks, small for dates, but otherwise 100% healthy and normal. This one is showing no markers for any abnormalities. I've never had the invasive tests, as it's not worth the inherent risk to Baby, and this time there seems to reason to, anyway.
By the way, I'm not Catholic, and this pregnancy WAS an accident - I was taking the Pill. My kids all think I'm mad to be having another! But they're all great kids and we're looking forward to the new addition, as are my daughters in particular, who are 10 and 13 years old. The ultrasound tech says she thinks we're having another girl, so my daughters are totally rapt! catamy -

Monday, 16 June I would like to thank you for your words of encouragement & experience. The past week has been very emotional & we have felt very scared. It seems to get easier the more I see her. We know we have the best Dr's taking care of her & with God looking out for her I'm praying for a positive outcome. She will be getting my breast milk when she can begin feeding. They allow something called "kangarooing" which sounds like what you were able to do. I'm looking forward to being able to feel her for the first time. I can't thank you enough for your support, it is reassuring to hear of your positive experience. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. bocamom -

Saturday, 10 May which week did you find out this babys sex? It is great to have another baby when you are a bit older, at least that is what I am telling myself. I am so much calmer now, and have more money and a house, and an extra bedroom for the nursery, I never had a nursery before. My husband and I are newlyweds, we got married on Valentines day this year, and were quite surprised to find out six weeks later that we are expecting. springtime -
Saturday, 10 May Thank you for the information. We are excited on seeing the baby again. Congrats on your pregnancy. Was it a suprise? We really wanted a baby but after a year of trying I didn't think it was going to happen, then, whammo! I am so excited, so is the rest of my family, my parents think it is so funny that I had the first baby of the family and will be having the last. kaygee -

Thursday, 17 April Hi congratulation on your pregnancy. Don't be too scared by all this advanced age talk. I was very scared before trying to get pregnant, since I was sure that being 40, I am bound to have plenty of complications. I was prepared for ordeal. Well, I still have two month to go, but so far none of my fears confirmed. I feel even better and younger than before pregnancy. I even feel that I have less wrinkles and gray hair now:) I didn't color my hair since became pregnant and they still look ok. So I wish you a healthy baby and many joys ahead. Keep us all posted on how you are doing. XpectnaBlessn -

Friday, 11 April Thanks for the concern i am puzzled myself! The nurse who does my NST takes my blood pressure and makes me lie down and takes it again and its still high and she goes and gets a doctor and they come in and say its fine and headaches are common at the end of pregnancy. I go mondays for an NST and thursdays for a NST and dr visit, so i wont see a doctor till thursday, but at least ill be checked out monday. They are calling cronic hypertension because its been high for weeks instead or Pre E but i have been getting protien since mondays dip and thursdays dip. I dont know, hopefully i go into labor on my own this weekend so i can be done! cjmc2577 -
