Tahlia at 26 weeks.................Summer at 26 weeks

Tahlia Jae 23 weeks and Summer Rae 23 weeks

Layla Jayne 23 months

Well what a shock, twins, and who knew they were in my family. But even more of a shock for it to be through IVF. We had one embryo put back thinking it would be nice to have one more child, and blow us down we have been blessed with two. Didn't find out till our 12 week scan. We had two previous scans that showed us one baby. T2 must have been behind T1. Surprise! My husband and I can't be happier. Even Layla our 2 year old daughter is excited and keeps asking for them to come out!! I am sure the time will come soon enough for her to ask them to go back too!!

Well, have made it to the 20 week mark. Both of our identical girls are doing great. We still have to keep a close eye on them as they share the same placenta and may produce the Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). But no sign of it so far, so fingers crossed for the rest of the pregnancy. I can feel both girl moving so much this past week, more so after just eating or just when I wake in the morning. They are really active little girls, I think they are going to be just like their 22 month old sister Layla.

Well 21 weeks now and all going as well as can be expected. Apart from the low lying placenta, that can cause some discomfort I can `t complain too much. Belly is getting quite big now and the girls are on the go, most of the time they kick just after eating and when I relax. Still not gained much weight, so far 3.3lbs or 1.4 kg `s, doctor isn `t concerned about it and recons there is plenty of time for weight gain. Still not sleeping too well, wake up heaps, having the flu doesn `t help much though. One day at a time is all I keep telling myself. OXOXOXOXO

Wednesday, 26 Dec
Well made it through Christmas....just with this bloody cold! The girls have been moving heaps today, I think its because I overdosed on Chocolate! I may even gain a pound or too over the next few days. Got my OB appointment tomorrow and a scan on the 7th. Looking forward to both, updates are always nice.

Friday, 1 Feb
Just turned 27 weeks and feeling fuller by the day. Only one week to go to put us in the safe zone, but still got our 37 week goal of reaching. I think it will come around a lot quicker than expected. Have my gestational diabetes test this wednesday. One day at a time!!!

They are just beautiful!!! Look at all that hair!! My girl's have a lot of catching up to do! Layla looks like a proud big Sis! How is she doing with the girl's?
BTW: My friend had her quads on the 2nd too!!!
I know you are busy. Hope all is well. Talk to you soon. xxxAmyxxx

brandi811 - Monday, 21 April
I can only imagine how busy your day must be! Do you have any advice that would be helpful for a new twin mom?

brandi811 - Wednesday, 16 April
Congratulations on your new baby girls! I'm so glad to hear things went well for you! I'm scheduled for a c-section on the 29th of April and I can not wait! How are you, and your family adjusting to the new additions?

AmyJ - Thursday, 13 Mar
Those are great weight's!!! I will not get another growth scan until 34 weeks. My NST is next week and then my bio-physical scan is the week after. Aren't you scheduled for 4/15 or am I getting you confused with someone else?
I saw my OB today. She informed me she will be out from 4/4 to 4/21. So..I am going after that or someone else will do the delivery. I am just anxious to set a date. Thanks for keeping me informed!!!

AmyJ - Monday, 10 Mar
I was measuring 42 weeks two weeks ago, so who knows how much I measure now. I guess I will find out Thursday. I am still 3 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight. The girl's measured 3 pounds 4 ounces and 3 pounds 8 ounces last Thursday. Do you have any recent weights on your girl's?

gertiegirl - Thursday, 28 Feb
Hi Amy, thanks so much for your response. It's nice to hear someone who's going through the same thing. Congrats on making it this far! I may bug you in the next few week with more questions!

twinzmommy - Saturday, 23 Feb
Wow April 15th!! That’s soon. Any reason why?
We still don’t have a date set.
Abby weighed 2lb 10 oz and Ella weighed 2lb 15 oz last week at 28 weeks. So we’re pretty close.
Take care, when do you go to the doctor again??

twinzmommy - Friday, 22 Feb
Hey we have almost the same due date! I'm May 9th. How did the glucose test go? I failed mine.

platysar - Friday, 8 Feb
Congrats on passing the diabetes test! My dr had twins and said she failed the first test miserably, but aced the second. She warned me that there's a good chance I'll fail the first but not too worry cause that's common with twins! I have my test coming up in a couple of weeks. How bad is the stuff they make you drink? BTW - amazing 26 week scans, and your daughter is such a cutie! Is she still excited about the babies?
We have our 26 week scans next Friday and I hope we get that lucky!

pamallhoney - Monday, 4 Feb
Oh are you 37 weeks or 27? Your Feb 1 post says 37, but your VIP week says 27.

pamallhoney - Monday, 4 Feb
At our first twin U/S both of our boys were 158 for heart rate. They couldn't tell if I had one placenta or two fused. Is having the same heartbeat a sign that they might be identical? I live in a very small community and am 3-4hours away from the nearest city. So I don't have the luxury of asking a really informed Dr. questions like this. I see my OBGYN tomorrow and hope that someone other than the U/S tech can tell me about the placenta...so I can be watched more often too.
Anyways congrats on your girls!!!

AmyJ - Sunday, 3 Feb
Wow!! Those 4D pics turned out great! Mine did not work out. We did not get any. Karsyn was facing the wrong way and looking down and Kennedy was facing Karsyn and her face was right next to Karsyn's ear, so they were too close to get a shot of Kennedy. They said it would just get harder due to crowding, so we opted not to re-schedule for a third time. Your girls cooperated and they turned out great!
I passed my gestational diabetes test and was told it showed I was anemic, so now one more pill a day!
I see the high risk Dr on Thursday for an US and we will see if Karsyn's cyst is gone.
It does seem like things are flying by now!!
I went to a quad shower last night. You would not believe all the stuff. There were abput 150 people that showed up. It was a couple shower and men brought diapers. Anytime I am overwhelmed with my two I will just think about Brandy with her 3 boys and 1 girl (twice as many as me) and then she already has a boy and girl on top of that!!!
Glad to see you are doing good and the girl's are growing so well. I will let you know what my girl's weigh Thursday because it looks like they are on the same track. When is your next US?
Take Care. xxxAmyxxx

AmyJ - Thursday, 31 Jan
It sounds like your babies are doing great!!! I start my every two visits this month too! I am not sure about my scans. I go for one more 4D Friday and then my specialist US on the 7th. I will find out at that time when he wants me back. Hope you are feeling well. It will be here before you know it!!!

AmyJ - Thursday, 17 Jan
I love the new pics!! I go for my 4D next Friday! Karsyn's cyst should go away on it's own. My Dr said it is nothing to be concerned about. My liver enzymes are going down finally!!! I had my glucose screening today so I hope to get the results on Monday. Hope you are feeling well. Have a good weekend. xxxAmyxxx

AmyJ - Friday, 11 Jan
I read your post about your US. I had one today. Baby A was 1 pd 1 oz and Baby B was 1 pd 4 oz...just like yours!! Karsyn has a cyst on her right ovary, but the Dr said it will go away. no worries! My specialist is not as concerned about the liver enzymes as my GI Dr is, so he calmed my nerves. We are trying the 4D scan on the 26th. I do not have my hopes up. Twins are hard to get good 4D pics being right on top of each other. We will see! Hope all is well with you!! xxxAmyxx

AmyJ - Tuesday, 8 Jan
Yes, I am back at work. I went back yesterday and I was sooo glad. I was having major cabin fever! My last liver draw was Friday and the Dr said she would call with an abnormal reading and if I did not here anything from her I would just see her tomorrow morning. I have not received a call, so I am assuming no news is good news and we will see what she says tomorrow. I am sorry to hear about your breathing issues. I would try to push for an x-ray to rule out a chest infection. I hope you have relief with the inhaler. You must be so uncomfortable. Let me know how everything works out. Take Care. xxAmyxxx

shazz - Tuesday, 8 Jan
Hey Amy,
Its really strange how you said they have given you a prescription for an inhaler because you have trouble breathing!! I kept going to the doctors for almost 3 months because I was really ill and all they did was give me 2 different inhalers to use because they said it was just asthma??? ( which id never had in my life) and then finally when I was really sick with a temp and throwing up constantly they put me in hospital and gave me a chest x-ray which showed a chest infection!!! I dont want to worry you at all, but me and my husband knew something was up and If id only been more persistant they would have fixed me up quicker!! ( I think thats why Ive hardly put on any weight!!) If you think you need more than an inhaler I would push for an x-ray to be sure for you and the bubs!! my next scan is on the 8th Feb so very excied its always amazing seeing them moving around on the screen!! Let me know how you get on and take lots of care!! Week 30 isnt that far away ahhhhhhh
xxxx

Hey Amy,
Its such a bugga getting the flu while your pregnant especially with twins as its seems harder to kick!! Hope that you start feeling better soon. How did your OB appointment go today? Hope that the blood pressure is getting better and your two girls are doing well!! Your names are beautiful and its gorgeous that their little sister is already calling them by their names!! Must be amazing for her as well! She must ask you some bizzare questions??? I can feel the babies all the time now and they sometimes keep me awake at night! So my poor husband isnt sleeping that well at the moment either!! We'll have to get used to it as being awake at night is something we'll have to get used to anyway!! Anyhow Take care amy and hope you start feeling better soon xxx
P.S Are your twins identical then???

amyj - Monday, 7 Jan
Hi Amy...I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble kicking that cold!!! I am having a problem getting rid of the cough. I feel like I am coughing up a lung. They kept me in longer because my liver enzymes keep going up. They do not know why and there is nothing I can do to prevent it. It may end up with the girl's coming earlier than expected and I definitely do not want that!! I am finally feeling movement..off and on. My back hurts too. My specialist said I could use a heating pad on low for a max of 20 min at a time. That seems to help. I have not felt the Braxton Hick's yet. I hope you have a great week. I head back to work tomorrow. I am actually looking forward to getting out. Take Care, xxxAmyxxx

amyj - Tuesday, 1 Jan
Hi Amy, 37 weeks is perfect! My Dr told me she would take mine between 34-36 weeks, but I would LOVE to talk her into 37, She takes them on Friday's. So 36 weeks would be April 11th, but if she let's me go 37, it will be April 18th. So..either way, pretty close to you!! I've felt the girls every once in awhile, but nothing constant and no BH yet. I am in the Hospital now with flu-like symptoms and dehydration. I've been sick since the 27th and ready to be over this. My liver fuctions are elevated so I am waiting for US to come get me for an abdominal US and then a GI Dr will consult me. I hope to be released tonight. Finger's crossed!! I do have a bully, Baby A, Kennedy seems to be the bully in our US's and when the attention is not on her, she throws a fit. There are studies that show the first born, A, is the leader of the two, but my brother's are the opposite. My brother Scott, Baby A, was a bully as a baby/toddler, but grew up to be much more timid and shy than Baby B. Have you started on the nursery yet?

shazz - Tuesday, 1 Jan
Hey Amy,
Happy New Year!Great to hear from you!! How cool our babies are due on the same date!! Ive noticed that lots of people pre book for c-sections, but apparently im being quite brave trying for a natural birth!!!( or so the nurses are telling me!!). I have just been in Hospital for 4 days with a chest infection Thursday-Monday so thats why I havnt been in touch earler, but the babies are doing fine and can see them kicking through now!! My husband thinks their going to be aussie rules players!!! Bit of bad luck if there girls!! hehehehhe How was your new years and how are the girls doing? Have you thaught of names yet? Well keep in touch and take care xx
P.S Where abouts in England are you from? We're living in York!!

naykeewabbits - Monday, 31 Dec
How are you feeling?? I feel so huge! I measured 22 at 19 weeks and then 28 at my 21 weeks apointment!! I feel like I am blowing up!!

AmyJ - Thursday, 27 Dec
My girl's are in the same sac with a thin membrane in between them. They also share a placcenta. My next OB visit is the 31st. I have not been to my regular Dr since I was 12 weeks pregannt. They canceled my 16 week visit and said I could wait for my 20 week visit because I am seeing a specialist in between for US's anyway. We will see how I measure! Has your Dr told you how far they will let you go before they will take the babies? Are you going to have a c-section? My OB said the longest she will let me go is 36 weeks, which puts me around April 11th. I am hoping she let's me stretch it to 37 weeks. I have not really felt the girl's move too much....just a few isolated times. My Dr at my last US was amazed I could not feel them. He said, 'Are you sure you can't feel all those legs kicking?'
He was in disbelief. I try not to let it bother me, because the US's are all OK and if the Dr isn't worried, why should I???? Now my Mom said something about it to me this morning, that I should be feeling them by now. That bugs me because when she was pregnant with my brothers she did not feel them very much, she said they probably did not have much room to move! She did not even know she was having twins until the birth. I guess I will ask my OB on the 31st about it when I go. I am planning on taking only 2 weeks off work when I have the babies, so we will see how that fares too!

amyj - Thursday, 27 Dec
The names you picked out are so pretty. I like what you did with the middle names too! I wanted to have different initials for my girls, but DH and I each picked out a name and they were both K's. Ugghh!!! I picked out Kennedy Grace and he picked out Karsyn McKinley. We announced the names in our Christmas cards and we bought letters to hang thier names over thier closets. My girl's are identical too. My specialist said it looks like my egg split between 4-6 days. I do have the TTTS risk too with the shared placenta. my Dr said he liked the fact that my cords were so far apart. I guess that is a good sign for the TTTS. He also put me on a high protein diet. He said that studies have shown that women with high protein diets had less chance of the TTTS. I have to drink an Atkins Advantage protein drink every night and every morning. Blah!!! Have you started on the nursery yet? Have fun at the Docs tomorrow!
