!November 27, 2008 It is so exciting to be at the point of finding out the sex of the baby. I honestly wasn't sure if we were ever going to get here. One accupuncturist and 3 pills a day later here we are! Oh I forgot no sex or exercise either. Not missing the exercise but the sex is definitely tough on both of us (TMI=sorry). But you know the day our healthy baby is born it will be worth it. I am so happy for this website and all of you on it. Good luck to all of you!

Its a girl!
Friday April 4th
I am 80 percent effaced and a fingertip dialated. I have been having cramping off and on with upper leg pain. They said she has moved down and getting into position. Shouldn't be too much longer. I go back on April 9th to be checked and hopefully induced. I have had some contractions but not steady. I am excited for Wednesday morning appointment and my Drs advice on when the big day will be here. I can't wait to meet Bella. She is getting bigger every day.

Sunday, 25 May Hey! Just checking on you. Between the gripe water and this awesome swaddling blanket, I have a peaceful baby! Its great. How is Bella doing? Did you get my e-mail about mixing the gripe water into the soy milk? I had a dream about you and that is what worked in the dream. Maybe its a sign! Went and spent the day with my mom today and it was really nice. She seems to be doing really well and enjoyed seeing the kids. Hope you are having a good weekend! kay17 -

Monday, 19 May Hey Penny-
I cried reading your post because it made me feel SO much better. Although I'd rather you not being going through this, its comforting to know I am not alone. I am really emotional and had a breakdown today too. I also rushed Brody to a pediatric urgent care near me. That stupid nurse practioner freaked me out saying he was having a hard time breathing, she even said she didn't want to scare me but it could be congestive heart failure! She said all that but he isn't displaying a single symptom and the chest x-ray came back fine yesterday and he's been to the best kids cardiologist in the area and been monitored for 24 hours and he checked out fine. Despite all of that, I freaked out last night. He was crying so much and I couldn't get him to calm down. I kept thinking he was breathing weird after she said that and at 3am I was googling signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure in a newborn! :( I left him with my husband this morning and Alexis and I went to church but as soon as I got home, I took him to the urgent care. Between no sleep and the anxiety it was causing knowing I had to wait until Thursday for a follow up appt, I just went straight to the urgent care for a second opinion. Sure enough, they tested his oxygen levels and once again all was perfect. The doc looked at his breathing and said he is absolutely fine and that he is a healthy baby and would not have gained 3lbs in one month if he had congestive heart failure. She could not believe the nurse practioner at my doc's office had told me that with out any proof and then left me hanging until Thursday for any peace of mind. She told me to insist to see the doc from now on or to change practices, which I def will do. I am so worn out from him crying. I cried to the doc today and said I felt like a crap mom because I can't seem to comfort him. No matter what I do, he acts agitated or irritated and doesn't just cry, but SCREAMS! I bought some gripe water today and just gave him some of that. I will let you know if it works out. This urgent care doc told me to swaddle him really tight and if he comes out, swaddle him again. She said it really helps to keep them calm and reminds them of being in the womb. There is some special blanket you can order on the web that they can't get out of. My friend told me about it. I will find out the name and pass onto you incase you are interested. I am SO sorry to hear about Bella!!! Sounds like you and I are def in the same boat with fussy babies. Did they suggest that you try Soy formula? Alexis ate Soy formula and did really well on it. Maybe that will work for Bella. It even says on the top of the can..helps with fussiness. We used Similiac Isomil Advance. Didn't work for Brody though, so he's on the hypoallergenic formula. Ouch about your boob! Does sound like it could be from being engorged. If I go too long, mine hurt so bad and just picking up my daughter and hugging her hurts them by her hugging me. Its crazy how sensitive they are. I got upset with my husband today too because he keeps acting irritated when Brody crys and says something is wrong with him and it makes me feel like he is annoyed with Brody or something. He says I am just hormonal and he's not annoyed and I am overreacting, but he kinda acts like it and I feel like its my fault or something for not being able to comfort my baby. Ok, I am rambling here. Try to get some sleep tonight. Brody has been sleeping a lot today, so I think I've got another rough night ahead!!!!! Hugs to you. I wish we could meet up for a margarita. Lord knows we need it! Good to hear that this stage ends soon. Thanks for that info. Its definitely draining me physically and mentally. I just want him to be happy and content. I am praying and hoping he improves. I will do the same for Bella. talk to you soon. Post a pic of the little cutie when you get a chance, but I know how hard finding time is these days! Gotta run. Bottles to clean and house looks like a tornado has hit! K

Sunday, 18 May Hey! Yeah, I am REALLY tired tonight after cleaning all day and having no sleep last night. Brody stayed up from 2-5 last night so its been a rough day. We find out the results for my mom on Monday, thanks for the prayers. I am also worried abour Brody. The nurse practioner at his doc's office keeps freaking me out. Last time we went she said he had a weird heartbeat and sent us to the cardiologist, but all checked out ok. They monitored his heart for 24 hours and there were no abnormalities. Now yesterday she says he pulls to hard to breathe and ordered an x-ray of his chest, that came back fine, but she is sending us back to the cardiiologist this week. I am trying not to panic because she was wrong last time, but its still scary! I hope you have a better day today. If the regular formula doesn't work out, try the soy, that worked for Alexis. Or they have that one called Similac Sensitive or Enfamil Nutralese or something for fussiness and gas, its the same price as the regular so that may help. Too bad about the boucy seat :( You'll eventually find something that works. Brody hates to be swaddled too. Its def rough, but I know this phase will pass and soon we'll have him figured out as you will for Bella. Hugs to you and I'll talk to ya soon. He's screaming again! :) kay17 -
Friday, 16 May My advice...Definitely get a bouncy seat with vibrate mode and buy extra packs of batteries! It is our saving grace and I could not live without it! Brody hates the swing too and is also very fussy for no apparent reason. Alexis hated her swing too until she was about 3 months old. I had to switch Brody to the hypo allergenic formula because he was so fussy. He just acts agitated or irritated alot and just seems uncomfortable. I defintely see an improvement when he drinks the hypoallergenic formula, but half of the time he is getting my breast milk too so I wonder if something in my diet is making him gassy. He has lots of gas, either burping or farting round the clock :) I bought Dr. Brown's bottles to try and help with the gas as well. Mylicon drops help a little too. The only way I can put him down without him pitching a fit is by putting him in the bouncy seat and turning vibrate mode on!! The one I have is the Fisher Price Rainforest one, but I am sure a lot of them have vibrate mode. As for a schedule, I haven't even really started to work on it yet. He doesn't sleep too long during the way, he's restless then too, so right now I am just kinda letting him do his thing. I will start to work on a nap schedule once he is sleeping longer at night. With my little girl, she was sleeping 6-7 hour long stretches during the night by the time she was 3 months old, so hopefully we will be getting some sleep soon! Not sure if you have heard of gripe water. But it is also supposed to help with fussy babies. That company LIttle Tummies sells it and I was thinking of getting some over the weekend. I've heard great things about it. Its not a medicene so can be used on the newest of newborns. I hope you get some sleep this weekend. My mom is sick at the moment so I am driving to her house tomorrow to clean her house for her because she can't. Doesn't sound like I will be catching up on sleep any time soon! I hope you and Bella have a good weekend. I just keep reminding myself that a month ago he was in my tummy and its such a big transition for them. Some babies adjust quickly and easily like my daughter, I think others it takes a while for them to get used to all of the lights and noises. Soon they will both be adjusted and I am sure much happier! Hugs to you and I'll talk to ya soon.

Tuesday, 13 May Don't worry, we are in the same boat. Brody is very fussy and his sleep schedule is all messed up. He wakes up like 5 times during the night. I think all babies are just different. Alexis would eat and sleep for 4 hours and then wake up again to eat. Brody just doesn't sleep as peacefully. He is very restless. I try to swaddle him and he busts out of the blanket. I know they tell you to lay them on their backs, but he sleeps a lot better on his side. I am swaddling him and laying him on his side at bedtime and he is doing a little better, but believe me I have nights when I have to put him in the bouncy seat on vibrate to get any peace or sleep. I am beyond tired. He does way better on my breast milk but I don't make enough. He eats SO much and never seems satisfied. He seems to eat like every 2 hours, its crazy. I am sure we will figure out what works for him soon as you will for Bella. Just try to take it one day at a time and you will gradually learn what works. Everyone always has advice, but only you are the one taking care of her. I got some rude comment about the fact that I need to put cereal in his bottle and pediatricians tell you not to do that. I just try to tune out the opinions and do the best I know how. As for what to do during the day, Brody sleeps a lot during the day too. What has helped us is giving him a bath at night, it seems to calm him down even though he screams during the bath but once its over he is soothed and sleeps pretty good for a while. He has yet to sleep for more than 2 hours during the night though, so its def rough! Feel free to vent anytime. You may have seen my recent post. My mom may have cancer, she is being testing this week. Grateful for any prayers you could send up for her as I can not imagine not having my mom in my life. She is my best friend! Thanks and I'll talk to you soon. Let me know if you find any tips that work for you and I will do the same. Hugs K kay17 -
Monday, 12 May Happy Mother's Day! Hope you are enjoying your first one!!! :) kay17 -
Thursday, 8 May So nice to hear from you! Glad to hear all is going well. Alexis weighed 7.7 lbs, perfect size! That is how I knew Brody was going to be really big! So much for the doc's estimates, they kept telling me he wouldn't be big, yeah right! :) Luckily I only pushed for 5 mins though, but like you epidural had worn off and I felt EVERYTHING! Every stitch going in too! OUCH! Brody is pretty colicky so I am not getting much sleep, but he is such a little cutie. I am loving every minute of taking care of him! Nice that your mom came and stayed with you. Mine was here for 4 days and it was nice to have the extra help! Not sure why the board wasn't working. You might try it at this link:
