I thought the same thing with my baby boy until I read that it is impossible for a newborn to be constipated until a few months old. The problem is most likely that their little bodies are still just learning how to function, and it takes longer for their bodies to process the stool. It makes them feel like they have to push, especially when they learn to associate pushing with passing gas and pooping, but they dont quite know how to push fully yet. Also, it may not be poop he is trying to pass, but more likely gas. I have noticed that my son does the grunting and pushing while feeding and it seems like once he feels him belly getting full, he thinks he needs to push. When he's passing stool, he normally will be very quiet, seem very content and like he is concentrating very hard on it lol. There are a few things that I have done that seem to work with Jayden when he seems stressed out about his gas/stool situation. First, I give him .3ml of Mylicon drops, and see if that helps the gas. If it doesn't work and he still seems fussy and uncomfortable in aout 20 mins (how long it can take the gas meds to work) then I will try bicycling his little legs and putting them up to his belly back and forth on the changing table... if that doesn't work, my last resort (i have on had to use them twice so far) are the Glycerin Infant Suppositories. They work wonders and are very safe for newborns. It will make the poop come out, and make the baby feel relieved whether it was gas or stool all along. I try not to use them that much though (although they are amazing at making him feel better) because I want his body to learn how to process on its own. The last time I used one I believe he was 2 weeks + some odd days old, and since then, he's learning to poop on his own! Good Luck and I hope that my info is useful to all!

I had a similar problem with my little girl- I used molassas and warm water- just a bit under my mother's and doctor's orders and boy does that stuff clean out the body

I would take the baby into the er if the fall was a good distance between the bed and the floor. You never know what can happen internally with babies. Better to be safe than sorry.

hi! my son will be 6 weeks tomorrow and he's had acne for a couple weeks now. His is actually pretty bad but it is starting to clear up. Just don't put anything on it and don't wash his face more than once a day, overwashing could make it worse. good luck!

navywifemomof3 - Sunday, 30 Mar
My son has the same thing, baby acne. It goes away and then comes back in different spots. The docs said it's normal and will go away as they get older. Their skin is so sensitive and going through the change of swimming in water to living in air.

flutterbylovebump - Sunday, 30 Mar
G'day, my babe (7 weeks old today) also had a nasty looking rash on her face, was small raised red spots. Think was either milia? (milk spots)/ baby acne or heat rash as when took her singlet off & put air con on the rash would look better, when she got hot or upset rash would look inflammed & nasty again.
We took her to the Dr to rule out any nasty disease ('cause it looked a bit like measles i thought!!) Dr said it was normal & prescribed cortisone, DO NOT use this as was way too strong for babes sensitive skin (I still can't believe the paed Dr prescribed this!), her skin then went like eczma & very itchy then dry, is just healing now (has been about 3 weeks). We went to another dr for a second opinion who also said it's normal for newborns & small babes to get rashes, it's just their skin adapting to the outside environment (different bacteria etc). I also thought maybe my babe was having a milk allergy/ reaction but don't think this was the case. So my best guess was like a heat rash (their sweat glands can get blocked as they are just learning how to regulate their body temp).
Get checked out by Dr if you'r worried.

More than likely, it's infant acne. My son had the same thing and it cleared right up within a week. CONGRATS! And best of luck on your little one!

Nope no dilating for me yet. She said that my cervix is still closed but that the baby's head is very low in my pelvis. She just barely put her fingers inside and she felt the baby's head. I still have a feeling I'll be late though.

baby08 - Thursday, 6 Mar
How could they tell that you are going to be late?? Just curious. I hope I'm not late but I have a feeling I will be:(

Miska - Sunday, 2 Mar
Hi there.. They will let you know when they are ready to take pictures of your baby. If your not ready, let them know and they will give you time to get your baby ready for the picture. oh. I see your a pharmacy tech.. I'm a tech as well.. I work in a hospital though.. I don't like out patient pharmacy.. I had enough of that when I was a tech in the Navy.. lol

Go with Graco...they are a very reputable brand and they have diffierent styles that are very acoomdating. MY suggestion is to get a stroller with a seat and base, but don't get a super sized stroller, as they are hard to manage, and it hogged up my whole trunk, and I drive a Camry. There is a more compact model. I wish I knew it or had a photos, I'd tell you. My brother got it for his son, from Big Lots for around $100.

Thats great about your fluid. Just keep track ov movements because they discahrged me from monitoring when my fluid was at almost 10 then a week later the baby wasnt moving as much and it had gone back to 6 and I am back in monitoring. So keep an eye...but congrats!!! :)

shaaf - Wednesday, 20 Feb
You still need another item for your hospital bag... Some sanitary pads for the bleeding!!! (Most women dont think of them b/c we havent had a need for them since becoming pregnant.) The hospital will provide them, but they are really bulky and huge!

mommaj - Sunday, 17 Feb
hows your fluid level doing? Are they still monitoring you?

firsttimemom22 - Sunday, 10 Feb
I got the Chicco brand stroller and the car seat set. The stroller was one of the most light weight ones in the store. The car seat was also ranked as one of the safest one out there. I got mine at Babies R Us.

NewBeginings - Sunday, 10 Feb
If you get a greco car seat you can buy the stroller base to go with it for like 50 bucks its super easy to use small and light weight. Plus when the baby grows outta the infant seat as long as the next car seat is greco you can still use the base or get a unbrella stroller. This is a web site to show u what im talking about.

If you hit read more then scroll down you can read the reviews on it. It gets a 4 and a half star rating. My girl friend loves hers and i loved it when baby sitting so i def registered for my own. You can open it with one hand and it fits into my tiny hyundai elantra. If you already bought a car seat they sell a generic one that fits most car seats for a bout ten bucks less but id bring your car seat to the store and make sure that it fits. Plus the basket is a little smaller but it should be the same basic thing. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2327597#prod_prodinfo Good luck

socalgal - Sunday, 10 Feb
What's your price range? The Bugaboo is supposed to be great, and you can get an attachment to use it with the carseat too, but it is very pricey.

niseybear - Sunday, 10 Feb
I don't know of any lightweight stroller/car seat combinations. Doesn't mean there aren't any though. LOL The GRACO one I have despite it's size is very easy to maneuver and fold up. You can see what it looks like in my photo album. I LOVE IT! Gets a little heavy to lift into the trunk sometimes, but I'm getting the hang of it! LOL

keri282008 - Friday, 8 Feb
thank you, that makes me feel better, mine was ranging in the 8.6 range, so I'm hoping sense I have been drinking a lot more water, juice, that it has went up. I will know on Monday.. course it would be kind of nice to be induced lol, but I just want emilee to be ok! Thanks for your response!

Nothing wrong with you shopping before your shower. I bought a few outfits before my shower and I didn't get duplicates of anything. As a matter of fact a couple of weeks ago, I went to Walmart and finally purchased my son boy's clothing. The neutral stuff is cool, but with the boy clothing it's easier for those who don't know to see he's a boy. LOL Hope you're blessed at your shower. Hubby and I didn't have to buy one big ticket item...it was nice!

Thanks for the commen. They are monitoring me twice a week with the heart monitor and ultrasounds. It is slowly rising but noot close to where they would like it. My BP is really good...they told me it could be the placenta as well but they arent sure. If it is, then how do we know the baby is getting all the other proper nutrition she needs. I see my actual dr on Tuesday so I hope she has some more answers for me. It seems like they dont tell me very much where I get monitored. :( Good Luck.

Hey! We are due the same day and my baby shower is on Feb.16th (we almost had it on the 17th) that is too funny. I wish I would have registered online to save the trouble of endless hours on my feet. I also registered at walmart but I was only in there for about 30 minutes. I just started scanning all kinds of stuff because I wanted to get in and out of there! Well, good luck and let me know how yours goes. Take Care
