VOTE on my Name List

Please help us to pick out a name for our baby girl!!

2/13/08 Hello Everyone! My husband and I are 16 weeks pregnant and are very excited. I have 2 children from a previous marriage that are all grown up. One is 18 and the other is 15. I love my husband so much and we have been together for 10 years now. We only got married 1 1/2 years ago and he wanted a child of his own so bad. I went off the pill in the summer and we really didn't try all that much because we were in the process of selling a home and building another. There have been other stress factors going on in our lives also. My 18 year old daughter told me in October that she is pregnant. With all this stress, there was no way that we were going to conceive a baby. Well the holidays were coming quick and our house was almost done. Our old house wasn't selling and we were getting really nervous that we were going to be stuck with 2 mortgages. We found a family member to rent it out for awhile but this was not the answer to our financial problems at all! We got another showing for our house but we didn't get excited because this happens all the time. Well this time was different. An offer was made and we accepted! We were finally going to sell our home. We were no where near ready to pack up our home and the new owners wanted to move in 2 weeks early to get in for the holidays. We negotiated and moved them in a week earlier than expected but it was very stressfull. Through all this comotion, I didn't pay much attention to the fact that I couldn't remember if I got a period in Novemeber or December. With a move on the way, there was no time to think of this. We moved into our home December 14, 2007. After setteling in, my mother came in for the holidays. Things were still so crazy and busy, I still had no time to pick up a test to see if I was pregnant or not. I didn't want to tell anyone until I knew and the first one I wanted to tell is my husband. I finally decided to sneak out of the house and buy a test on Christmas Eve. I went right home and took it and showed postive right away. I wrapped up the test and was going to put it in his stocking for Christmas morning but I was way too excited!!. I called him in the room and gave him the wrapped package. We had promised this year that we were not going to buy any gifts for each other and when he saw the package, he said, we promised! I said I know but this gift was an exception to the rule and he had to open it. Well he did and was so happy he grabbed me and kissed me and kept saying "Thank you , Thank you! " It was the best Christmas ever and we couldn't be happier.

2/7/08 Hello again everyone!! We went for an utlrasound 2/5/08 at the genetic counselor and IT'S A GIRL!! I think at first my husband was a little disappointed because I think he wanted a son and also my 18 year old daughter has given us a run for our money. This has changed dramatically! We are both so excited and can't wait to see our little girl. We had the gentic counselor do a 3D ultrasound picture and the profile is amazing! Hope to post it to my page soon. If you are looking for better ultrasound pictures and you don't want to pay the price of the specialty stores, see a genetic couselor and get a level 2 ultrasound and insurance will cover the cost. Little lesson for all you expecting mommies!!

4/17/08 Hello everyone! I am now 24 1/2 weeks pregnant an can not wait to see my baby girl. We have went and registered for all our things for the baby a few weeks ago and went out and picked up the crib and changing table that we had ordered. Our next thing is to start to paint the babies room. We have fell in love with this bedding in a department store online that has Pink and Brown lady bugs! I ordered the curtains and they are so freakin cute! The lady bugs and the background on the curtains are made of this material that is so soft and is beyond our expectations! I can hardly wait to get the room all decorated!. Now if we could only decide on a name !! Please help us out if you could and vote on the names that we have picked out so far. Thanks so much!!

I like the name Gabrielle a lot. If you wanna search for names by origin you can go to this site http://www.babynamesworld.com/pages-browse-by-origin.html
I am portugese and personally liked the name Antoinette or Toni for short. But really I think it all comes down to the first moment you see her and you'll know.

There was only traces of protien and a higher than average blood pressure. I'm in Canada so I don't think you'd be able to recommend a hospital lol. I am thinking of naming my baby boy Damian. He feels like a Damian to me, but I'll know when I see him. Kaden is a nice name. I've never heard it before but it sounds nice. What names have you chosen for your baby girl?

amandajewels - Wednesday, 14 May
Thanks for the reply, it actually made me feel more at ease that there are very high chances the baby and I will survive this. It's actually knida funny cause I'm the same age as your daugher and having a boy aswell. I can't imagine having my baby stay in the hospital after I go home. The idea of not bringing him home with me is gut-wrenching. Although, my doctor hasn't diagnosed me with anything yet. I have to wait until next month's visit to find out if the protien levels increase. I feel like he should be doing more though, you know? I mean why wouldn't he ask me to come back sooner like in 2-3 weeks? Oh well, I'll update you on any new information I get if you'd like. Thanks for the help.

I will let you know how it goes. However, I am a labor and delivery nurse and I measured myself last night and I am only measuring 29wks, so I am not sure if my NP's calculation was accurate??!! So I am not stressing too bad right now, just want to get the u/s and make sure everything is alright. Oh and I just read how you told your hubby about your pregnancy and I am crying!!! How fun!! Darn hormones :o) Have a good day and I will let you know how all goes!

tiffjoy - Tuesday, 13 May
My next ultrasound is this Thursday and I haven't had one since I was 20wks. At my last dr.'s appt I am assuming I measured fine because my doc didn't mention anything. But today I saw the NP and she is the one that measured me. She said that most of the time it is just a normal thing. But I can't help to stress abou it!!! I don't feel big either. I mean this is my third baby so I should be alittle bigger than normal??!! I have gained 23lbs as of today, but I am really all baby , so I don't know?? I can also feel him up to my sternum at times. I am just praying that everything looks fine on Thursday. I will keep you posted and you keep me posted on your next appt.

Dr. hasn't scheduled an ultrasound yet as we recently had a 3D (non-diagnostic) u/s at 27 weeks which didn't show any abnormal amounts of fluid, etc. My dr. didn't seem too concerned at this point and she said closer to my due date they will re-assess his size and figure out options. Worst case scenerio is that they take him earlier than the 40 weeks (induce) or possilbe c-section if I go to term. I'm lucky my Dr. is so chill about it all which puts my mind at ease. I'm all freaked that the kid is going to be 12 pounds or something...I'll keep you posted though please let me know the outcome for you as well and congrats to you!

Hi there, Firstly, thank you for being open and honest and I apologise if I upset you bring up your mother inlaw. It must be very hard not to be able to lean on her for you and your husband at times like these.
I am sure your husband will come around soon and realise how important it is to you and for the baby too.

I completely understand about being private.
You know, I started thinking about your situation a little more after I read your comment, and came to the realisation that if I were in the same situation, I would be making the same decision, for the same reason too.

Infact, part of me has already had to tell my best friend who asked if she could come into the labour room that there is only one person that I want and thats my husband! I realise she is disappointed (as she has been there for me through everything), but in the event that my husband can't make it, I'd want to do it on my own.

I wish you luck in your resolution with your husband.

If ever you need to vent/listening ear, feel free to drop me line.

take care

Hey there. So talked to Yan last nite when he got home, and he was shocked that your man wouldn't want to go with you. He says he's got a philosophy about it. It is: "if we put it in there together, we have to get it out together". Which is a bloody good point I hadn't really thought of. Maybe try slinging that one his way, and see if it works. If not, tell his Momma on him.
Go ahead and tattle. Serves him right.

tetera - Tuesday, 6 May
Man, I don't think that's the hormones at all - you sound like you have a very legitimate reason for being upset! Hopefully he will see how selfish he is being (what does he have to lose by going??) and you all will sort this out.

mumofsix - Tuesday, 6 May
I can understand you feeling very frustrated with this. Do you have any friends who's husbands could encourage him to go. It's more about going for you and supporting you than anything not so much about what he will learn from the classes. No wonder you had a good cry. Keep the communication lines open with him and see if you can gently get him to do this for you.

dasha - Tuesday, 6 May
Not at all the hormones....sounds like he"s being a putz. I'm blessed to have a hubby who's totally involved, and who gets annoyed at guys who don't want to be....I'll see if I can get him to write a few choice words to your man as soon as he gets home later. Can't promise anything, but I"ll try....Best of luck, and my most sincere sympathies. :o)

Our baby girl is finally here! Sofia Isabella came into the world on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 @ 5:32 pm via c-section. She weighed 10 lbs 13 oz and was 21 3/4 inches long. I had a scheduled c-section for Thursday, April 24 but when I went to the doctor on April 23rd for my Pre-Op appt, my blood pressure was a little on the high side, so my doctor thought it would be best to do my c-section that same day! I have posted lots of pictures on my page! Check out all of her hair! She looks just like her Daddy! We are so happy and excited that she is here! Everyone absolutely adores her, especially my husband and her big brother! Austin is such a great big brother. He has been such a big help! He loves holding her and singing to her. My husband just loves being a Daddy, he is even changing stinky diapers!!! I am exhausted but I am slowly recovering. Please keep in touch!

Congrats! My mother feels the same way about the word GRANDMOTHER. We decided that our little girl will call her Bella. It means Beautiful in Italian .. She's ok with that :)

MommyXs3 - Monday, 28 April
We called my grandma "meme" but I have a friend that has her kids call her mom "emmy". It's sweedish or something for grandma and since she was also young, she didn't want to be granma yet either! lOL!

MommaD - Monday, 28 April
Mimi would be a good name for a young grandmother! Congrats!

becky468 - Monday, 28 April
Hi there. Congrats on your new grandbaby! My daughter calls my mom NaNa.

Melo74 - Monday, 28 April
Congrats on the grandbaby & congrats to your daughter on becoming a Mommy!!! You don't have to go with an old time grandma name! My nephew calls my mom "Honey"!! We all think it is so adorable. Hope your grandson puts on weight and is healthy and happy. Praying for y'all.

tetera - Monday, 28 April
Congratulations on becoming a grandmother! My nieces all call their grandmothers on the other side of the family (not my mom, but their maternal grandmothers) "Mimi" which I've always thought was really cute and didn't denote anything age-oriented.

MommyXs3 - Friday, 25 April
I'm a 32 weeker! No problems or complications and they didn't have time to give my mom the steriods. I was out within 45 minutes of her arriving at the hospital. We will be lifting your daughter up in prayer but I just know things will be fine. As scary as it is, tell her to relax..it's the best thing she can do. They are so much more advanced these days, I'm sure they'll do everything they can to make sure everything is perfect. Good luck and can't wait to hear!

tamian - Friday, 25 April
At 33 weeks, there is really nothing to worry about. Certainly if she has the baby now, it will stay in the hospital for a while, but the chances of anything being seriously wrong are so slim. My sister delivered at 30 weeks and her son is now 1 and perfect.

Jaclyn82 - Thursday, 24 April
Hey! Thanks for your comment. I actually just read that about the born free bottles in a magazine that i have. I am going to go onto my baby reg and put them onthere. Thanks!

MommyXs3 - Wednesday, 23 April
haha. I really like it. Gia is a cute nickname. :)

rachaeln - Tuesday, 22 April
Hi congratulations on having a girl!! I am also Italian and am choosing an Italian name for my child if it is a girl. Just a suggestion.... my aunt gave me an Italian name book. You should look into that if you haven't already. If I have a girl the first name will be Isabella. We will call her Bella, and as you prolly know Bella means beautiful in Italian. Just a suggestion. I hope all is well and please let me know what name you end up choosing. I voted on your name list and I like Gianna the best it has a pretty ring to it. Good luck!!

MommyXs3 - Tuesday, 22 April
I like the name Giovanna. It's such a hard thing. Picking a name is so permanent! lol! You're very welcome! :)

goonieMomma - Monday, 21 April
My sister's babydad is Italian and Irish. We are mix-breed. She picked Gabriella for kiddo #1, spelt the Italian way. I think one L is spanish way? Girlie #2 is Gionna (prncd like Gionni- the boy's name... but w/ an A). Also, I am feeling the push of naming- wasn't that one of the reasons we found out the sex? But at the same time, it will come to you. Maybe take a name vacation, throw away all the names you've got, and start over at month 8! My top listers are def. not the same they were in the beginning of pregnancy! I can only assume they'll change like the wind... along w/ my moodswings!
Best of luck!
