My name is Heather and I live in Leicester UK and have a wonderful fiance called Chris. This is our first baby and found out at 26 weeks that it is a little girl. It took us a while but have decided on the name Imogen. Her full name will be Imogen Grace Whyley. We have decorated the nursery and its all ready for our little arrival. I have asked my partner if he wants to cut the cord and he said yes until he saw a birthing programme that i was watching and he changed his mind. He thinks it looks gross. So we go through all of that hard work for 9 months and then have to face labour and the men cant even cut the cord. Ha they are wimps. Think i will be able to change his mind though. As i am writing this i am 40 weeks and 1 day and she is showing no signs of arriving. Anyway hope everything goes well for all you preggers ladies out there and look forward to chatting to you all.

Had a midwife appt today. Bubs is still at the brim so not coming down at all. That is where she has been for 6 weeks now. Fundus height is spot on though, measuring 40 eventhough it was that 2 weeks ago.I mentioned that i'd not felt as much movement as usual so she referred me straight to the hospital to get monitored. Got there and they attatched a monitor to my bump. It measured the heart rate of bubs and had to press a button each time i felt her move (6 times in half hour) which is more than i had felt her move all mornin! The monitor was crap though and kept on disconnecting. The Dr said everything looked fine, i noticed that on the screen that it said 2 contractions whilst id been hooked up, dont know if it means contractions or just tightening? The midwife said that gotta have a sweep on tuesday and see how things go from there. If she still aint here will be induced but as my 2 week date will be 25th dec they will wait till after xmas to induce me! Cant believe it, really thought i'd have little bubs by xmas but now i'm not so sure.

Well had the community midwife round today she was supposed to be doing a sweep to get this little one moving. I mentioned that i had a rash on my stomach, legs and arms. They have been so itchy but just thought it was down to the stretch marks on my tummy. She tested my wee and found there to be protein in it so referred me to hospital so they could check it out. Got to the hopital around 3.45 and had to wait about 45 mins to be seen as there was a lady just turned up ready to pop hers out! could here her screamin in pain, really dint wanna here that! Anyway got hooked up to an ECG to check bubs and she aeems very happy indeed. They checked my wee again and found protein and something else which indictes a urine infection but dont seem to have one! The doc assessed my rash and thinks it is cuz of the stretch marks that i have been itching so much and caused an infection so was given some tablets to help clear it up. The sweep was done and it was the most uncomfortable thing ive ever experienced. Nurse said i am not dilated at all but cervix is soft and not long so hope the sweep brings on the labour! dont think it will though. we'll see in 48hrs. was booked in for induction on 24th dec but to go in on 23 dec 8pm so hope they may start it then.

Well dont think the sweep has worked cuz dont feel any changes happenin. At least my tablets are workin for my rash, the stretch marks aint red raw anymore and only itch when something touches them. Its worse at night cuz the quilt cover rubs against them and it keeps my partner awake with me scratchin. He keeps tellin me off cuz he knows i'll omly moan when they are red raw again. The tablets they have given me make me sooo tired i slept from 11pm the other night till 10am the nxt day then was asleep at 6pm till 8.30pm then went to bed at half 11 that night. All i want to do is sleep!

Today is my younger sisters birthday we said if Imogen is gonna come then its gonna be today cuz it would really annoy my sis that she has to share her b,day! Had backache all day today and just had a bath and bubs wouldn't stop squirmin around, had a few strange pains in stomach aswel but only last a few seconds. Keep thinking yes this is it but again no it isn't. Looks like im gonna have to be induced!

Birth Story

23/12/07

Ok so today is my day of induction. Gotta go to the hospital at 8pm.

So we arrive at 7pm just to be on the safe side, get booked in and changed into nightclothes. Ive got my mum and b/f with me. So the nurse comes and insterts a peserie (think thats the right word) into the neck of my womb which is supposed to put you into false labour so you start dilating. My mum leaves and its just me and chris who stayed till about 10pm, no pain yet. Chris had been gone about half hour when i start to get stomach cramps about every minute. The nurse comes to check on me at about 8am and the pesserie has worked, my cervix is now soft enough. They broke my waters at about 11am and bang im in full blown labour 6cm dilated. Had gas and air but it made me sick so decided to have epidural. They gave me epidural at about half 11am and it took a little while to work, the doc said she will be back in about an hour when i should be ready to push. I cant move around as im hooked up to IV and they inserted a monitor inside me attatched to Babys head as she needs monitoring as ive been induced. So the midwife comes back at about 1pm examines me and decides im ready to push, started pushing at 1.20pm on the 24th Dec and 3 pushes later Imogen-Grace was born at 1.26pm! Chris cut the cord, it was lovely. My mum has been with me the whole time aswel. Im holding Imogen having a cuddle but my placenta isn't coming out. This is quite dangerous as i had lost alot of blood as the labour was so quick. Im injected with 2 lots of medication to deliver my placenta but its not coming so the midwife is pulling it out! Still under epidural thank god! Finally its over but im still bleeding really heavily so they are trying to stop the bleeding and getting loads of fluids pushed through my IV. I tore sideways (not up or down) but not too much so only had to have a couple of stitches, still cant feel anything. Imogen goes straight onto my boobs and feeds for an hour and a half! hungry girl! I was hoping to go home today but as i lost alot of blood ill have to stay overnight :( Chris had to leave at 9pm! all the men get chucked out at that time, so had to fend for myself, the midwives were crap, no-one came to see if i needed anything, its like ok uve had ur baby now deal with it! Anyway finally xmas morning and im allowed to go home, had a terrible night, as soon as Imogen went to sleep someone elses baby would cry and wake her up! Mum and Dad brought xmas dinner round to us and Imogen slept for 5 hours solid. I love being a mummy the best experience of my life and the best xmas pressie anyone could wish for, my little Angel xxx

8 July 2008Imogen is 6 months and 2 weeks old today and it is the first time she has sat un-aided for a long period of time. She eventually fell over and didn't mind untill the 3rd time then she roared. Im trying to make falling over fun, wish me luck...

Oh yeah he's big!!! I'm 5'7" and he towered over me...he could peer over a 6 foot privacy fence to check out the neighbors...the best darn dog i've ever had hands down! Too bad he's now sleeping in that great big doggyhouse in heaven :(
