Hello, My name is Teresa and my husband Brandon and I are expecting our 2nd child August 18, 2008. We have 1 son Luke who will be 4 the beginning of April. He is a crazy character and we just love him. I work from home as a transcriptionist, but am planning on going back to school this fall. I have no idea how that is going to work since I am due approximately the same time that school starts. I am so looking forward to that (sarcasm)... I am looking forward to getting to know some other moms on this site as I have pretty much no friends who have kids that I talk to on a regular basis (except 1). I am really interested in music, tattoos, cooking (and eating too much), reading Patricia Cornwell and Stephen King types of books, shopping...I love to shop, especially for shoes! I am addicted to garage sales and can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can peruse through other people's used junk! Really I have found some of the best baby items at garage sales! Anway, I like to meet new people, so feel free to send me a message about, well, anything! Ooh, I also like horror movies and I am a hopeless Halloween (the holiday) junkie!

I am currently looking forward to my ultrasound in 2 days, but dying to know what the sex of this baby is. It is killing me! Lots of movement that is getting stronger and stronger every day, so hopefully everything goes well. The quad screen was negative, so at least I am not too worried about that. I find worrying about pregnancy stuff makes the pregnancy seem much longer, so I try not to do it too much!

March 29, 2008:

The ultrasound on Thursday went really well. Found out we are having another baby boy! My 4-year-old is so excited he is going to have a baby brother. I was convinced it was a girl, but everyone else seems to have thought it was going to be a boy. Oh well, I already have a ton of boy stuff, but I found a cute new bedding set I want. Trucks, planes, trains...very cute, but still can be used for a toddler too. I was really hoping to decorate a girl's room though. Black, pink, and white...It would have been gorgeous (at least it was in my mind)...Now if I can just convince my husband to get started on finishing the downstairs so I can get decorating! I feel really huge lately. I need to go buy some maternity underwear or something...

May 2, 2008:

Almost 25 weeks now...Wow. It seems like it's going fast, yet still taking forever! Still can't decide on a name, Dylan or Weston. I went shopping for maternity clothes again the other day. I pretty much can't find any maternity shirts that fit my style. Like my name, heavymetal mama, that is what I like...heavy metal and there are very few maternity clothes that reflect that. I did buy a black maternity shirt and a tiny stud skull iron-on that I am going to make this weekend, but other than that I have nothing that reflects me. I hate it. Oh, I suppose I could go online and buy some that are like $50.00 a piece, but for something I am going to wear for such a short time its really not worth it. I guess I will just deal with it until I can get back into my old clothes again. I've changed my mind about the nursery decor, I'm going to go with a nautical/sailor type theme. Something different, but really cute. I'm trying to convince my 4yo that he should move to a downstairs bedroom and then I will redecorate with a surfer theme, but no luck yet.

June 2, 2008

Pregnancy brain is killing me. I am so dumb lately that I can't believe it. I also don't sleep very well anymore as I am constantly peeing and rolling over to try and get comfortable. My body pillow was from 4 years ago, so it has kind of lost its fluff and is just kinda flat. It's not much help at this point anymore. We are getting a puppy next week. I am totally dreading potty training a puppy right now, but I guess I will just have to deal with it. We are getting a Boston terrier, his name is Vinnie. He is tooooo cute! I can't believe I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant already. Time has gone by quickly. My nursery isn't ready as my husband hasn't even started the downstairs yet, so my son can't move to his new room...he better hurry up. I want to paint and get the nursery ready. I also need to get my son's room decorated, he wants a cowboy theme and I have found some really cute stuff. I have been researching baby wearing the last few weeks and am really excited about it. I just can't decide which carriers to order. Most definitely getting a Babyhawk mei tei as that seems like the most comfy and will work with my lifestyle. I think I want a Slingling sling as well, but not sure yet. I am thinking a ring sling might be better, but we'll see...

June 6, 2008:

Holy crap my boobs are leaking! I am so excited! About 2 years ago I had a breast reduction and was told not to expect to be able to breast-feed or anything. I was thinking nothing would even come out, but I started leaking colostrum today! I realize that means nothing, but it is a small glimmer of hope that maybe I can at least get my baby some antibodies even if I will mainly be bottle-feeding with formula. Kind of a dumb thing to be excited about, but I'll take what I can get sometimes.

Hey! Sorry I've taken SO long to write you back. There has been so much going on. My dad had open heart surgery and now my mom is in ICU so things have been a little crazy. On top of that we're moving and trying to get everything ready.

Trying to get everything done is driving me crazy. I'm totally nesting. We're moving into a 3 bedroom so I feel better that I'll have a place for her and all of her things. We have a crib and changing table and everything but I need to get a crib mattress and bedding. I think I saw the one you were talking about on Ebay. I have my heart set on a leopard one. I found a website where they make custom bedding for $130. I was going to paint her room purple and do regular leopard but her room is already a tan color and I don't think I'm up for painting so I'm contemplating getting the purple leopard. I'm so indecisive right now!!!

We live in Southern California. I thought all preschools were that long. It's so sad that there's some kids that are there for day care from 6 am to 6 pm. I would never be able to be away from my son for that long!!! One of Mason's little friends is there all day and he's always so sad when Mason goes home :( I would be nervous about the school bus too! I'm sure he'll be fine thoug. Mason wants to take the bus so bad.

So I made the mistake of taking my son to the fair the other day with my sister and niece. I thought I'd be fine. Well 8 hours later I could barely walk, my back was killing me, and my ankles and hands were totally swollen. My son had the time of his life so it was worth it but I can't believe I made it out of there! I met another woman there who was 40 weeks though so I trucked it out lol.

wow, i already found my answer! thank you so much!

armywifeash - Sunday, 22 June
Thank you! I'll check it out!

I get headaches everyday and my hands are swollen, but I don't have high blood pressure or a swollen face. I elevate my feet all the time, but the swelling never goes down.

I heard the same thing that the nesting instinct is a possible sign of labor. Well if my body is telling me to relax, then that's what I am going to do. I know that as time gets closer and I start maternity leave (thank God!). My nesting instinct will "come out more".

ErinBeth - Saturday, 14 June
I would love to see Type O Negative! I've recently been realizing that I'm not up for a concert right now anyway. My back and feet are killing me and I keep having this wonderful thing happen where I feel like I can't breathe. I still don't want him to go though, I'm just selfish like that I guess lol.

I've been eating all the same junk that you have. I just found this awesome yogurt place though and I don't feel so guilty when I go there. I practically have to force myself not to go to Chili's every day and get the chocolate molten lava cake!

Is it as weird for you having a second child as it is for me? I'm really excited and everything but I feel like I didn't have enough time with just my son and I'm so worried about how he will feel when the baby is taking most of my attention. Does your son go to school yet? Mason goes and he loves it. He's going to have all of August off and when he goes back I think I'm going to put him in afternoon classes so I don't have to wake up so early to take him. Right now he only goes 2 days a week for 4 hours but I'm thinking of bumping it up to 3 days a week so he gets the most out of it.

Momma327 - Saturday, 14 June
I sorta feel the same way that you do. For some reason I just don't want to clean or do anything but relax. I heard that one of the clues that you are in labor is your "nesting" instincts coming out. Hopefully with some rest it will come back because I need to clean my place!! Its driving me crazy. lol.

My sons is sagittal. The top of the head. He is only 3 months old so the doctor wants to get it done right away. (better recovery, he says)
thanks for you help. I will let you know how it goes.

mommynicolem - Sunday, 8 June
HAHA! Maybe you'll be able to...don't count it out. And I'd at least try. But, just don't count on it. I was convinced I would be able to and had such a time with it. It was a bad experience. I've already decided that I'm going to try, but I'm not going to stress myself out this time.

3rdXMommy - Saturday, 7 June
Hi, I found you through the birth defects on this website, I just found out yesterday that my son has sagittal synostsis. He will be going for surgury within the next week. How did you cope, how is your son today? I hope you done mind me asking? Also was there anything you wish you has asked the neurosurgeon before the procedure was done?

Sharonimo - Saturday, 7 June
Good luck with choosing one-you will have lots more options in the US, if that is where you are. Not much here in Canada, especially if you are not in a major city centre. I am sure you will enjoy wearing the little one, and your son will probably like having both your hands available to play with him!

I am a surgical nurse, so I have watched a breast reduction from about 4ft away. I cannot imagine how on Earth your breasts could work right after having that done. BUT, I'm not a doctor and I guess anything's possible. I wouldn't worry too much. I had implants and a right sided lift a little over 2 years before my son was born. I wasn't able to breastfeed much, but I had a little. And when I say little, I mean little. He was mostly a formula baby and he is very smart for his age (He turned 2 in Feb.), so I wouldn't worry too much. Do what you can and don't stress yourself out. Just find the formula with the most DHA/ARA in it. That's what helps brain development. I think I used Enfamil. It's been awhile, so I'm going to have to start remembering how to deal with a newborn again! :)

It must be miserable for you working overtime right now! I can't wait for you to go on maternity leave! LOL What do you do for a living?

This pregnancy is flying by for me too. I've loved being pregnant both times though. There's definitely things I'd like to be doing too that I can't but I just love feeling my baby move all the time. My husband actually just got tickets to a Slipknot concert and didn't get me one. I told him I wanted to go and he said "I want to do something with the guys. We're going to be getting drunk and it won't be fun if my pregnant wife is there." I appreciate his honesty but wanted to kick him in the balls! Isn't that the lamest thing you've ever heard????? Whew, sorry, I kind of went off there for a sec.

My pregnancy has been good. I was high risk but I'm pretty sure I'm not now because I don't see the high risk ob anymore. I miscarried 2 times before and I have a heart condition. This pregnancy was a little scary at first because of all that but I have nothing to worry about now. I feel huge. I've gained 28 lbs already. 4lbs in the past 2 weeks!!! I've had a lot of stress with family and when I stress I eat LOTS of sweets. I can't get comfortable at night either and my back is KILLING ME!

My son is very excited. Every time we go any store that has baby stuff he's pulling stuff off the racks going, "Look! It's so cute!" Is your son excited too?

Sharonimo - Wednesday, 4 June
I still wear my 1.5 yr old, even at 7 months pregnant. I started when he was a baby with a sling (good for short trips, sometimes nursing is ok as well) and always keep it in his diaper bag. I also used a Cuddlywrap which I loved-super comfy and my son would fall asleep after walking 10 minutes or so. When he got to the point where he wanted to lean back and wiggle around, and the weather was colder (ie: more clothes on baby), I found the cuddly wrap more awkward because it is so snug fitting. So I bought a mei tei from Maya wrap which I also love and still use, only on my back now though. It works basically the same as the cuddly wrap but is roomier for the baby and not stretchy so it doesn't matter if he wiggles around now. He likes to get on the "mama horsey" and say "neigh"! My little trick to make him want to get on my back! Anyways, I would totally recommend baby wearing; I plan on doing it with the next one as well.

It is really hard to find women with similar interests. ESPECIALLY other mothers!!! It's too bad we live so far away with our kids being the same age and everything!

I like Dex Abbott a lot!!! People never like the names I pick either. If this one had been a boy my husband and I were leaning toward the name Butcher. Nobody liked that one but us LOL.

So how is your pregnancy coming along?

ErinBeth - Monday, 12 May
Hey, I'm new to the site and your screen name caught my eye : ) It sounds like we have a lot in common. I'm also due in August, I have a 4 year old son, and I love tattoos, metal, and reading!

magsy - Monday, 28 April
thanks for the message! i guess there's no real point in counting calories while pregnant, anyways. i'm going out for a meal of diet coke and sushi after my little girl is born! ;)
