How`s my pregnancy doing?

September 3rd

So I just came back from the doc - guess what - this little girl is already weighing in at just over 6 lbs.!!! YIKES! My doc guessed that this means that she will ultimately weigh in between 8 and 9 lbs. Also, she kind of put the kaibash on the idea of her coming early - she said pretty directly - - well, just 6 more weeks... Also - my stomach muscles have separated & so have my pelvic muscles - hence the pain in my groin...she said that if it gets to be too bad she will send me to a physical therapist... But for now, she is head down & ready to go. The only bad news is that darn cyst still there, but at least its size has stayed constant at just 1 centimeter. So, they are setting us up with pediatrics and they will take it from here after birth. Hopefully, it is just a small ovarian cyst that is being fueled by the estrogen in my body and will go away after she is on her own. My brain just keeps coming back to 6 lbs. - 6 lbs. and 6 wks. to go - what a combination!! Besides all of these details - she is gorgeous. I am so psyched.

July 29th

I just had the best doctor's visit - - 1) they did another ultrasound and at first they couldn't even find the cyst!!!!! Then, they finally found it, but it is very very small - a matter of millimeters instead of centimeters. So hip hip hooray - it looks like it is in the process of disappearing - especially when you consider how much bigger she has gotten in comparison! One more ultrasound at wk 36 just to confirm, but for now it looks really good!!! 2) I had failed my first glucose test and had to take the 3 hour fasting test - -which came back negative!!! Whe-hew - no gestational diabetes for us!!! Thank goodness! and 3) just to top it all off - I lost a pound since my last visit 3 weeks ago!!! Tra-la-la-la-la.

It doesn't get better than this - -really, everything that I have been worrying about just got resolved. Hooray hooray. Now we can just relax and get together a nursery and pick a name and everything else :) Wonderful wonderful wonderful!

July 10th

Well, tomorrow I enter the 3rd trimester and I sure am beginning to feel it. I feel like I was going along just fine - doing tons of research, keeping really late hours, and then bam - brick wall. I still have another couple weeks of late hours research and I am just not sure how I am going to get through it. I think I may just take it easy a little and know that I may have to make some sacrifices because I am pregnant. June and July have been nuts with travel, so maybe it is just my body telling me to slow down. Still, I have just 2 more weeks of it and then August is free and clear - then I will have to start getting things together for this little tyke - like names and the nursery and everything else.

The other bummer is that I have gained 30 lbs. already :( So, no more pregnancy indulgences - -I am on the straight and narrow until the end. I was really good during the first 4 months - working out all the time & eating healthfully - but months 5 & 6 I pretty much didn't work out and ate whatever I wanted - - and the results: 15 lbs. in 2 months - awesome. Still, I gained 90 with my first - so anything is better than that. I just have to hold out for the next 2 and a half months at hopefully minimal weight gain. Also, that dang cyst is still there upon the last ultrasound :( I just wish it would go away. I go back for another check on it in 3 weeks...I really hope it goes away.

Besides that, all else is great - she is super active - way more than my first - sometimes I can feel both her hands and feet going at the same time - like she is trying to run and box at the same time - --crazy kid. She goes crazy during the late night hours at Amma's programs (my research) - I think it is all of the music and the energy - -and also when I lay down - my husband usually jokes that it is because she is mad that I am laying on her (even when I am laying on my side)... ha, ha, ha...Glad that he is interested and coming around though. I think he is actually getting a bit more excited - though he still won't be serious about names. Every time I bring up a name, he counters with something like Hillary Rodham or Barbara Bush or Georgia Onmymind....so silly...I am sure we will get to it at some point in the next few months. We are also starting to collect "stuff" - I went to a huge sale at Carter's - super fun - and am starting to plan the room and the bedding etc. It was fun doing all of this for my first (we didn't know the sex then), but it is super fun knowing that she is a little girl...sometimes it all seems surreal still and I can't believe that it is really happening...still feeling very blessed & lucky to even be able to be in this position at all...

June 2

Well, I am definitely looking pregnant now... Up until just a few weeks ago, I could 'pass', but now even strangers are talking to me about my growing belly. I never really liked that part about pregnancy - being the community science project... We had our 20 week ultrasound last week and we found out that our baby is a girl! I am absolutely delighted. I was secretly hoping for a girl since we already have a boy and I am not sure if I will ever get another child out of my husband. Everything about her looks good (thank goodness)- except that she has a cyst in her lower abdomen. They said that it might be ovarian, but that lots of times they fade in the course of the pregnancy. Worst case scenario, they would surgically remove it after she is born. So, although the entire idea makes me terrified, I suppose it is not that bad considering all of the miracles that go into creating a human being. I am praying that it will dissipate on its own in the course of time.

As for me, throughout this pregnancy, I have been quite crampy & recently the braxton-hicks have kicked into high gear...I'm hoping its normal - though they do seem to intensify when I exercise or exert myself. So, for now, I am just planning to take it easy, enjoy the summer, and be a good incubator for this lovely little girl. Hope that all of the other moms out there are doing the same.

May 12

I passed my exams, I passed my exams, I passed my exams!!!!!! Ha, ha, ha, ha, tra la lala la.... Now I can finally begin to think about the baby and the summer and ice cream and all of the other good things in life.... whe-hew!@!@!@#R$@#@#$!@#$!@#$!@#%#!!!!!!!!

I have a big long ultrasound on the 29th - can't wait....and finally, finally, finally, I can tell anyone who wants to know that I am pregnant - -- - - hip hip hip hip hip hip hooray!!!

Hi everyone! I am finally going public with this pregnancy, whe-hew!!- - after a mc at 10 weeks a few years ago I have been very reticent to believe that this is real. But, thankfully, I am still here at 12 weeks...just two more to go 'till approximate safety. I have been feeling pretty good - was sick for a few weeks - but just reduced my diet to bland and sour foods which at least helped me to make it through. I have been craving natural sours throughout - grapefruits, green apples, passion herbal teas - very strange, seems to help the m/s though. This last week I have been much less tired and actually feeling a bit closer to my old self again. Thank god because my phd exams are at the end of next month and falling asleep on my books at 10pm is just not going to cut it. So...I am back to studying full time and trying not to stress...lots of water, as much sleep as possible... Also, I have a reticent, but getting used to it, loving husband and a totally thrilled 8 year old.

Best wishes and good luck to all you mommies-to-be out there. Here's to plentiful milk and fat babies.

I love that name. You can go both ways with that one. we are naming our boy Shawn and if we had a girl I would name her that too. Good choice.

Yeah thanks! I am getting a container ready, and we have a cat, she caught some earlier in the summer when we were away and it seems we have another place to find where they are coming in! I figured it must be the dog food so I am definitly getting that sorted today! But thanks for the advice as it is good to know that is probably the attraction... yuck!

How do u fill ur time? On your 1st pregnancy?

jlynn - Thursday, 4 September
Oh, thank you so much for replying. Yes, I had hit transition for sure. I noticed a huge difference in the severity of contractions and the length between them. I was VERY scared. But, I do need to trust my body. It was meant to do this, so let me start meditating. I also want to get some relaxing music. Good luck to you!!

km-dickson - Thursday, 4 September
Crawling........dang, that doesn't sound like fun. But, if it works......so I guess it worked for you? Your baby was born in the right position then?

jlynn - Thursday, 4 September
wow, I just read that you had a drug free labor for your first baby on someone else's page. congratulations!! I made it to 8 cm and started screaming for the epidural. It just hurt so much and I got really scared. How did you prepare for your labor? Was it just regular lamaze class or did you do hypnobirthing? And did you use a tub? Did you have a doula? I just have my husband and am not sure he can help me through going natural. Thanks for any advice and congrats on your little girl.

I know what you mean about making rash decisions at the end. About this time of my last pregnancy, I got all my hair cut off and really ended up regretting it. This time I told a good friend of mine that if I tried to get my hair cut, she should talk me out of it!

Slow down! Wow, I get winded just walking around the mall, no way could I do 3 miles. Take it easy the rest of the day and don't blame yourself. We all have brain farts. I'm pretty sure I've lost my mind several times.
Take care.

thats what i think i will have to do in order to accomplish drug free labour.
"calm down and let nature do its work" just go with it. it will be a challenge but one well worth it to myself.
good for you for making it through it.
i feel like this information is really going to help me. thank you.

That's EXACTLY what I needed to hear--thank you for the encouragement!

You don't want to see my ass, and you should have seen my arms 8 months ago! OMG, I am falling apart! But thanks for the nice comments

mohawkmommy - Wednesday, 20 August
Thanks for responding. :) Yeah... My computer went on the fritz so I've been out of communication for a while. And I talked to my doc... I do have PUPPS. Not fun. And basically, I'm stuck like this until after Jayden is born. Sweet action. How are you?

babymamma88 - Monday, 18 August
next time he suggests a name like hillary or condi why dont you bust out something like gwenaveere or something soooo horrible he'll cringe. Or play at his own game and agree to name her after the winner of this next election... should get him...

MrsKiwi - Friday, 15 August
I hadn't heard of the baby hammocks... thanks for the tip!

Hey, oh I am just stating my opion, I feel supported. Sorry you may feel that it is one way or another in our comments. What ever works.... works. I love it when people talk about their beliefs-it is good to get everyones thoughts on issues. It is only in good will. Are you new to this week? I haven't seen your screen name before. Take care.
