Hi!

I am also a part of the high risk, bed rest, short cervix, and preterm labor club! I am 27 weeks and have been on bed rest for 1 week, with no end in sight. I had a transvaginal US on Monday and they could see my cervix lengthening and shortening with contractions that I wasn't even feeling! I also had some funneling. I got steroid shots and have been started on the weekly progesterone shots now! I have a 2 year old, she was born exactly 5 weeks early, at 6lbs, 6 oz! she was very healthy and came home with us!

I see a lot of people with the same issues, I don't know how I am going to survive at least 8 weeks of bed rest more!

Hi there thank you its nice to know where not on our own. How short is ur cervix and is it funneling, also how many shots have you been given for baby lungs?
I went back today to the consultant cervix still 4mm and funneling, he is concerned but went to another consultant and they agreed no stitch. So life is just to carry on using the pesseries, but dont bedrest (cause they say can cause blood clots) just take it easy they say lol. I had all my other 3 children fine my first was 6 weeks early and weighed 4lb 12oz, my second full term 7lb 12oz and my son full term 6lb 12 oz. But after him i had too loop procedures done on my cervix so i believe this is why. I am very worried as dont know what to expect. Will keep you posted from Nicki (Good Luck)

Nope, they won't give me the shots unless there are signs the baby is coming. I cried when they told me that b/c I wanted some kinda safety net in case the baby came fast and without warning like before. I am frustrated about that but I am trusting these docs and I am being monitored very closely, so I pray all will be fine. Anyway, yep, I am in SC so it has been relatively warm here (60s or 70s)! It is killing me not being outside and working in the yard. This is my fave time of year, despite the horrendous pollen. Guess MI has got to be REALLY cold, and yeah that lawn chair idea would not really work with all the snow. Bummer on that :) My daughter is turning 4 this weekend and she has never seen snow. It is crazy, because around here we wish for a little bit of snow but never get it.

Hey, yep I am strict bedrest (potty and shower are my only luxuries, haha :) I am getting very ancy not being my active self. I think they are keeping me on strict bed rest till 34 but not sure. I haven't gotten any steroid shots because I have not actually gone into preterm labor. My cervix is dilated 1cm but has not changed with contractions so it doesn't qualify as labor. I really hope they can catch it early enough with me so I can get them if needed. My membranes ruptured with my daughter and I had no contractions prior, so it is kinda nerve wracking for me now, worrying this may go the same way (my total labor was 3 hours with her). Anyway, I have had some tough spots mentally on bed rest due to cabin fever, etc. but most of the time I am doing fine. My hubby bought me a nice comfy lawn chair so I can at least lay out in the backyard while my daughter plays. That has helped lots! Also, Blockbuster has made a fortune off us the last few weeks :) Well, you will do fine, I really think bed rest helps lots. I can tell my body feels better and more calm. Take care, message me any time!

That is wonderful your daughter came home with you guys @ 5 weeks early. Did you get steroid shots with her? I only ask, b/c I have no clue when I will be delivering this one since my daughter was born 6 weeks early. She was 5lbs 9 oz, but her lungs were not ready so she was in the NICU for 12 days. I am at 32 weeks now and have been on bed rest for since 28 weeks. I am really hoping to make it past 34 weeks b/c I am afraid of the whole NICU stay again. She came so fast they had no time to do the shots. I was just wondering if your daughter had received those or her lungs were just naturally already developed. Good luck with everything! I have been on 17-P (progesterone shots)since 16 weeks and now I am on Procardia too and I have a home uterine monitor to keep up with contractions. I hope with all this I can buy us enough weeks to get out of the NICU zone.
