I love it!! I am in ER nurse and am planning on going on sick leave at 32 weeks at my doc's advice! Damn it's good to be canadian!!! Where are you from?

annabelle77 - Wednesday, 30 April
If you live in Quebec, you get 18 weeks maternity leave and 52 weeks paternal leave which can be shared with your husband or partner. EI covers 50 weeks of those 70 weeks. Also, if you need it and your doctor agrees, you are entitled to another bunch of weeks off although I have no idea how you'd go about doing that.

hey thanks for the heads up about the extra 15 weeks- where did you read that? I live in Ontario! Woo hoo!

dasha - Tuesday, 29 April
Yeah. Now all I have to do is convince my doctor....

Shyah, right. That'll never happen.....

Lucky I still have almost three weeks of vacation left....

Hi...I am in Vancouver and curious about your comments about sick leave before mat leave...where did you find out this info? Do you know if it has to be doctor ordered? Just curious...michelle

yea, i have over 600 hours because i work at least 24 hours a week. when do you apply for the leave? it doesnt say on the website. do you wait for the baby to be born or can u apply earlier?

ashley.holmes21 - Wednesday, 19 Mar
im deffinitly gonna go for that extra 15 weeks sickness leave thanks lol

i saw your message about EI, while its tempting my problem is that i do not work fulltime and my hours have fluctuated over the last year. if i go on mat leave early, it will effect how much money i will get monthly. you wouldn't happen to know how difficult the process is to apply for EI as a part time worker with varying income would you? this is my first so i have no idea what the process is like...

susan - Wednesday, 19 Mar
Hey, interesting about the EI. I'm in Toronto....I'm just wondering how easy it is to get a dr's note for something like that....hmmmmmm....

hey there, can you tell me a little bit more about this 15 weeks business??? I have 16 weeks to go, but it looks like I'm going to be put on bedrest as of this Friday...I've worrying a bit about money, so this would be great. Is there a website or something?? I've been trying so hard to figure out how to not go on mat leave right now!
Thanks for your help!

happygirl - Tuesday, 29 Jan
I heard about that too.. sickness pay.. I really want to but what should i tell my dr why i want to go on it. you have to take the sickness 15 weeks before right?

branbug - Tuesday, 29 Jan
Thank you, I also bought a 150.00 dollar massage thing with heat for my chair cause i sit all day at work, it felt so good at first, but whenever i stopped using it, my back actually got worse, it was like it was brused. Thank you, I will keep trying the tylenol. any idea on how many we can take??

maybaby:) - Tuesday, 29 Jan
hey---i just read your comment on the week 25 page about 15 weeks early/additional mat leave. I'm currently working full time on a contract position---do you think that would still apply to me? Is there a website I can check out for more details?

emma1230 - Friday, 25 Jan
you haven't hardly gained any weight! lucky you! not me! I have gained like 30lbs. luckily, i don't really look like I have gained that much weight, but I can feel it :) I didn't get sick with the Epideral. I agree, i wouldn't want to be sick on top of labor either.. I didn't like how numb I was from the waist down. any way, i hope all is well! emily

emma1230 - Friday, 25 Jan
hey there! i just read your comment. I would get one if you can. I had one. My sister didn't have one and she was okay. I guess it just depends on what you can deal with! how is your pregnancy going so far? emily :)

It could be gingivitis. When's the last time you had your teeth cleaned? You definitely need to get your teeth cleaned to remove any tarter. Unremoved tarter can cause both gingivitis and periodontal disease. Hope I helped! If I were you I would go to my dentist for a teeth cleaning. It will help!
