~~~ March 28th, 2008 ~~~
So, here's the the latest baby update! I went to the doctor yesterday (Mar. 27th). They skipped the non-stress test and went to the ultrasound first. I think they are finally getting what we've been telling them all along, She's gonna be a big baby! The Doctor asked several times how big Hunter was at birth. He also checked my cervix and I'm only at 3 cm in spite of having had nightly (and sometimes daily too) regular contractions. He said that we should set a date to induce me, and jokingly suggested "How about tomorrow?" I nearly jumped off the exam table and said "Absolutely!!" He did kind of a double take, smiled and called the hospital and set is up for today at 6 am. I'm not looking foward to them breaking my water or putting me on pitocin (to keep the contractions going) but I can't wait for the baby to be here! It's now 2:30 am and in 3 more hours we head to the Hospital!! I had a 4 hour nap but couldn't sleep any more. So as you move about your day today think of us. Hopefully by Saturday if not sooner we will have some news...............
I have been having contractions for a week now. At first it was just for a few hours at night and then they would go away.We asked the doctor on Friday, when we should go to the hospital and they told us to go if they got to 10 min apart sor 1 hour. So on Sunday night we headed to the hospital. They hooked me up to all the moniters for about 2 hours. The contractions were coming about every 6 min. for most of the time we were there. The problem is that my cervix is not dialating and is only at 2 cm at the most. And so they sent us home, and said to come back if the contractions get so bad that I can't talk through them or if my water breaks. :o(
Today I was so tired that I slept ALL day. I got up at 11:30 am and by 2pm I couldn't keep my eyes open. I dozed on the couch until about 4. Hunter has been so sweet today, he keeps bting me water and he has had to watch movies most of the day. (He plays in the living room by me) and I was out like a light by 9pm tonight. It's now 2 am and I have a feeling that I'm not going to be able to get back to sleep. I can't wait until she is born. She's been very restless too. She HATES the contractions and after they are over she kicks and moves like crazy. She kept kicking the monitiors at the hospital too. My due date is in 9 more days. I hope they do something to help us before then, but I dbout it.
My Family threw me a surprise shower over the weekend. It was fun. It's probably the last time we'll all get together before the baby is born. We played a few games but my favorite was the cake! Oddly enough I've been craving cupcakes lately so having to eat cake was no problem! :o)
I have been having practice contractions again since Sunday. They feel like heavy period cramps and I am hopeful that maybe I'm dialating more. I'm also having a lot of trouble getting to sleep now. I hate this part. I'm laying in bed tired as can be but too tired to sleep. I can't wait until she's here!
Today makes it 37 weeks! I'm down to weekly visits with the doctor until the baby is born. At last weeks visit they chacked to see if I had dialated any. I'm at 1 cm. It's not much but I'll take it. She's moving slower these days. If I get hungry and my stomach growls she kicks me until I eat! She's a very funny girl! We still haven't picked a name yet. I have a feeling we won't know until we see her. I've gained 19 lbs so far. When they measured her this week she measures at 38 weeks, so she's gonna be another big one. (Oh dear!) They guessed that she was about 6 - 6 1/2 lbs last week, and that she should gain about 2/3 of a lb a week. So we're looking at about 8 1/2 to 9 lbs give or take.
We made it to 34 weeks! yeah! So I went to the doctor Friday and there's really not too much new to report. He said that he agreed with me that a neurologist is unnecessary at this point. Hooray! (I really didn't want to go). He also said that since the prenatal vitamins are still making me sick, that I can take (are you ready for this?) 3 flintstones vitamins instead. I wish I had known that a few months ago!
The baby continues to be very active. As of Friday they said that she is head down. Hopefully she willl stay that way! She is also measuring right on schedule, however they gave me no real indicaton of her actual size. I'm hoping for under 9 lbs this time!
I have another appointment on Friday! Blah! I am so over the doctor! Also, my little lady seems to have noticed that she has much less room to move these days because her movements remind me of a wet cat in a small space! She's restless all the time and some of her movements kinda hurt a little! At the very least they can be quite uncomfortable! I keep having to move her hand (or foot) out of the space behind my belly button. It makes me gasp every time she does it! Is it March yet? lol
I just had another visit with the OB on Friday. I saw the nurse practioner that we don't really like. I told her about my back and she wants me to go to the neurologist again and "See what he wants to do" I'm not really sure what she meant by this since she told me that there was little to no chance that they would induce me any sooner. Grrrr. She also gave me another of those stupid kick counts to do again! She's the only one that makes us do them. Our little girl averages 110-130 kicks during the hour and a half they have me counting them. That's not even talking about all the other times she moves during the day! (and boy does she move alot) I was very close to telling the nursde that with movements like that you'd think I'd notice if she stopped! However since she still has it in her power to find new ways to make my life miserable for the next 7 weeks, I kept my opinion to myself. :o)
We still haven't settled on a name yet and this week, Steve and I are pouring over name books trying to make a list of names to take with us to the hospital. At the rate we're going she just might be coming home as "Baby Girl Turner" lol
Other than that she seems to be doing great! As I mentioned, she moves ALOT!! She likes to do "rolls" in my stomach. She seems to be head down and prefers to have her tushy to my right side. (Unlike her brother who prefered the left side just under my ribs!) She also gets hiccups all the time. I can feel them in the lowest part of my tummy (another reason we think she's head down). Usually after about 10 mins of them she seems to get annoyed that they won't go away and she kicks like crazy!
As for me, The morning sickness is definitely back! I hate food these days! The weight gain is better though. My total pregnancy gain is 11 lbs. My back has been better for the last few days, so hopefully the god weather will hold out! Also I find I have less and less energy these days. All I want to do is sleep, which makes life very boring for poor Hunter these days. Thank God we put him in Karate classes 2 days a week. Atleast it is a good way for us to get out of the house. We also continue to go to the library once a week. Hunter loves to read and we rarely leave there with less than 2 dozen books. He also loves to use the computers there since they have a good selection of educational kids games. This is great for me because I can pull up a chair behind him and read for 30 min. while he plays!
The weather here has been really lousy here lately. Alot of rain and and then it gets cold for a day or so. It is killing my back. I had a ruptured disk in my lower back before I got pregnant. Tuesday is the first time, (Since being Pregnant) it really got to me. I took Hunter grocery shopping. The weather had dropped to the 40's overnight. By the time we got home 90 min later, I could barely walk. Thank God Steve was home to help bring up the groceries! So I've spent the last 3 days on bed rest and light duty. It's getting a little better, but now I can't stand for longer than 20-30 min at a time. I feel like a wimp and not being able to do things for myself is driving me crazy!!!! Hunter is holding up pretty well, and is being a great help to his mommy. He loves to bring me water and "take care of mommy". But he's still having a hard time understanding why I can't get on the floor to play with him.
I just got the results for my 3 hour Glucose test. The doctors said everything was within normal limits. So no gestational Diabetes! HOORAY!!!
Also, at the last visit we were asked to do a "kick count" on the baby. This is where you count the number of movements the baby makes for 30 mins. after each meal. We did this for 2 weeks and she was averaging around 80-120 kicks per day! The doctor was pleased and said to keep monitering her movement from time to time. And I'm finally at the point where they want to see me every 2 weeks rather than once a month. Yet another sign that things are getting close!!!
We also heard her heartbeat again today! It sounds nice and strong! I got an idea from another mom on this site to record the sound on my cell phone. I'm gonna try it at my next visit!
One last thought, We're test driving the name Madison Grace. What do you think?
~~~ January 11, 2008 ~~~
This is my second pregnancy. I am expecting a little girl at the end of March. My husband and I are thrilled! Steve can't wait to have his Daddy's girl.
This has been a very difficult pregnancy. I lost 21 lbs in the first month that I was pregnant. I am now 7 months pregnant and have only gained back 6 lbs. That sounds great, (Less baby fat to lose later, right?) but I have had really bad "morning sickness" the entire pregnancy. (I only actually threw up about 6 times the whole pregnancy, but the nausea is always there) There were about 2 weeks where I could eat anything and not feel sick, but they didn't last for long. I took the 3 Hour glucose test on Monday for the 2nd time (The first time the lab messed up and used the wrong test tubes so I sat there for 3 hours feeling sick for nothing!) and will find out the results next week.
We still haven't picked out a name yet. I can't believe this is proving to be so hard! It seemed like we found my son's name so easily. We have been asking everyone we meet for suggestions! Hopefully we'll settle on something soon!
Isnt it the best feeling in the world to see your baby for the 1st time! Congrats, shes so precious!
