September 28, 2008 Today was a big day for me. I had my baby shower and it was just lovely. I got lots of great gifts. In fact I got nearly all the things I registered for plus lots of adorable clothes. There was some debate over where the shower should be held, but I asked that it be at my house…anyone who has a choice, do consider this. There are some definate advantages to having it in your own home. For starters, my sister and mother came to my house the day before and cleaned. I also liked that I didn’t have to travel to the party, and I didn’t have to make several trips transporting gifts home afterwards. When the party was over I was fortunate that some friends and family stayed to clean up. The day before the shower, my husband assembled the nursery furniture, so I was able to show off the baby’s room which was kind of nice. Probably one of the best parts about having the shower at my house was, as soon as my guests left, I got in my pajamas and showed my husband all the great gifts we received. There were 26 guests plus children at my shower. While it may not sound like many, it was a bit overwhelming. I truly felt like I was showered with gifts. I just hope I remembered to thank everyone as I opened their gifts. Baby’s nursery… Showered with gifts... August 16, 2008 Yesterday was my birthday…and my hubby had a wonderful surprise for me! I knew Tim would plan something for the day, but he kept saying “don’t have too high of expectations, I’ve been real busy!” The day started with Tim making us breakfast. Then we went out to look at cribs. After a bit of shopping we went for lunch at one of our favorite chain restaurants (Red Lobster-just love those cheddar/garlic biscuits!) which is about a 40 minutes drive from our local area. Following lunch, Tim said he wanted to take me to the movies, just one town over from where we had lunch. He handed me the mapquest directions. As we got closer to our destination, I started to think that this is an odd location for a movie theater…it looked like an industrial park with lots of office/business buildings… Tim seemed to agree. He was like, these directions can’t be right… I said lets starting looking for the building numbers…so we started to look for #74. And I saw it, I said to Tim “its right there, number 74…but that’s no theater! What is this?” We pulled in to the parking lot, and Tim said we are going to see a movie. I saw the sign... "A Tiny Perspective"…I started to cry...we did go to see a movie that day, our baby’s first movie! We had a 3D/4D ultrasound. Gave us a little smile! Confimation that it is a BOY!!!! August 10, 2008 We are going to start doing the baby's room. My husband wants fish/ocean as the theme. We found three cute wallpaper borders to pick from...Some of these borders might be hard to accessorize with but we will figure it out. This is our first choice (my husband's favorite)... This is our second choice... And this is our third choice)... And this is what we are working with... And THIS!!!! Over flowing closet!!!! June 12, 2008 We had our 20 week ultrasound today. The technician said everything looks as it should anatomically....2 hands, 2 feet, 4 chambered heart, stomach, diaphragm, 2 kidneys...just perfect! And the baby was not shy either-the arrow is pointing to his little winky-dink! June 2, 2008 I had my second group prenatal visit. The baby's heart beat was 160 bpm (same as last 2 checkups). My doctor ordered an ultrasound for next Thursday! We are so excited to find out what we are having. I hope the baby cooperates! A friend of mine gave me a Bebe heart monitor. I have been trying it out but no success. I've been told that you have to be in your 3rd trimester to hear it with the Bebe. May 11, 2008 On my first Mother's (-to-be) Day, I woke to a sweet surprise. My husband gave me a beautiful card and a bib that said "I LOVE MOMMY" while I was still in bed. I got dressed and went down stairs to find a nice wooden rockingchair with a card in the seat marked "Mommy". Inside it said "Please rock me often :-) Love the Baby". It was so sweet! This whole experience with my husband has been just wonderful...I am so thankful and blessed that things have been going so well these 16 weeks. May 5, 2008 I had my first group prenatal care session today. It was definately a unique way of having a prenatal check-up. It started with the "Baby and Mom Check". Which is essentially me taking my own blood pressure and weight and recording it in my own Mommy notebook (supplied by the group). Then the best part was the practioner checking the baby's heart rate (160 bpm). I was looking forward to that. Even though my tummy is growing sometimes I wonder if everything is okay with the baby. I haven't felt any movements yet, but it is early yet. It will definately be more comforting to feel the baby moving. Unfortunely, my doctor's office does not like to do ultrasounds unless there is a problem in the pregnancy...so we might not be able to find out the sex of our baby. Which is kind of a bummer! After the baby and mom check it was onto the group discussion. Todays topic was dealing with the discomforts of pregnancy. The doctor initiated the discussion, but he encouraged our participation...The next discussion session will be on relaxation/stress reduction, breastfeeding, and parenting issues. April 23, 2008 I started a prenatal yoga class today...I think it is going to be great for the pregnancy...especially the breathing techniques. April 21, 2008 I had my doctor's appointment today...Doctor said everything looks good so far. I only gained 3 pounds in the last 30 days. We listened to the heart again...160 bpm! It was exciting to hear. Can't wait till my next appointment, May 5th. My doctor signed me up in a centered pregnancy program. There will be about 10 women in the group with similar EDD. The idea is we will be able to interact and have a discussion session with doctor as well as have our regular check-ups together. April 17, 2008 I had my first ultrasound today. It was a nuchal scan. Basically, they measured the fluid build up behind the neck, as an indicator for likelihood of Down Syndrome or congenital heart defects. The measurement came back as normal. And my blood work came back as very low probability for Down or Trisomy 18. They said the baby looks to be developing fine. And we got to hear the heart beat (147bpm). The technician said it sounded like a horse galloping, nice strong beat! My husband and I were so excited to see our little baby bouncing around...I couldn't contain myself from laughing when we saw the baby making a sucking motion with its mouth! It was just too cute! According to the scan results my baby is either big for its age or I am actually 13 weeks 6 days...we will see what my OBGYN says on Monday. March 29, 2008 Tim and I found out Feb. 18th (first day missed period) that we were pregnant. I am happy to say we didn't have to try very hard, but we did have to wait before we could try. Last year was our 10 yr Anniversary and we had planned to start a family, but during a routine exam my gyn found a mass on my thyroid. I had a suspicious biopsy result, so my family doctor and Endocrinologist strongly recommended I have surgery. I had the surgery on Jan. 14th. Once we found out the mass was benign, we started trying (3 weeks after surgery)...to our surprise we were successful the first month of trying!

I had my first doctors appointment on March 21st. And on Easter we decided to announce it to family and friends. It was so wonderful, all the support and happy faces. Babies really do bring lots of joy!
