Hi guys i have found this website very comforting,i am 8 months pregnant and my wee baby has severe ventricomegaly and not enough brain tissue,iv been told the outcome is not very good and taking every day as it comes,id luv to hear from any mums who have experienced this or any other females in my position as we can be a bit of support for one another!

I am going for an mri scan 25th june which i am hoping will give me a bit more positive news, fingers crossed!i am also taking part in research in my local hospital to how the baby reacts in the mothers womb 2 certain noises, its totally amazing and they give me a video home-they put very light vibrations on my tummy and you watch the baby kicking and punching at that certain point of my tummy-its totally amazing!

1/07/08-Today i changed my hospital as this hospital will have a special care baby unit for after.i also got a scan and ventricles were at my 23 week scan 14.5mm(mild-moderate) then had doubled to 28mm in 2 weeks and today they had decreased to 25mm,the doctor told me it is excellent news the babys head circumference is growing and is perfect size. Everything else-fluid,heart,baby moving, cord&placenta is fine.

i will be going next week to continue and help with the research and the following week the wee baby will get an ECHO scan.

22/07/08-gota 4d pic of my wee angel and is the image of daddy.

23/07/08-we did the ECHO scan and evrything is fine with the babys heart, excellent!

Hi there my friend
So glad to hear that Daire is getting home on Monday, he is obviously doing well so that's brill news. You will end up with tons of visitors at home all desperate to see this lovely boy of yours. We were bombarded with folk for the first few weeks of being at home.
I was reading turtlemoms response on your comments as I'm a nosey sod! She is saying that you are sick? I hope you are OK? Maybe your getting a bit run down with all that you have been through recently.
Our wee boy has not been too grand lately, the doctor reckons he is suffering with reflux as he keeps gagging and chocking all day and frightening the life out of his mammy!
We are hoping it's not an ongoing thing and something he grows out of soon.
Anyhoo my wee man is needing a feed so I better go and see to him.
Your news is great and I am so pleased for you.
Take care and keep in touch.

My email is amybhendrix@yahoo.com. I can't wait to see the pics! I am so glad he is coming home!
Parker's shunt is working fine. It is common to have shunt malfunctions, but so far we haven't had any problems.
Much love to you and Daire!!!!

turtlemom - Tuesday, 7 October
I am so glad you wrote. I have been thinking of you and little Daire. When are you going to post pictures???
Did the doctors tell you what was so risky about the shunt procedure? In our case it was done the day after Parker was born and they didn't seem to give us much choice. They told us it was the most common procedure the Neurosurgeons do. Maybe your case is different???
We read about a doctor who infuses cord blood back into patients with hydrocephalus to possibly encourage brain damage repair. Parker was the 10th baby to have the procedure. We don't know if it will work, but we had to try.
I'm so sorry you are sick. Is Daire still in the hospital? We were able to go home early because of our trip to do the cord blood procedure. Or, we'd still be in the NICU. But, Parker is now eating well so we probably would be discharged this week. How is Daire doing?
I hope you are able to see him soon.
Much love from Parker and myself!
Write soon!

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

I am certain little Daire is just precious. Congratulations on your wee little one!
I am sorry to hear about his skin condition. Has it gotten better? I sure hope so.
Parker has eye problems too. She has optic nerve hypoplasia (under-developed optic nerve) and nystagmus (shaking of the eyes). It is likely she will be severely visually impaired.
Please give Daire a kiss from me and love from Parker. They are certainly special little ones. Daire is so lucky to have you as his mum. Please write more and let me know how you are. I am a bit worried about you. This should be a joyous time. xoxo

Dear Louise

I have you in my thoughts and prayers as I know you have been so worried about the c-section and the baby.
Both you and baby are in the best of hands and you have all the positive support from the mum's on the forum as we are all thinking of you.
Take care, stay relaxed and I can't wait to see this baba of yours.

Hi Louise
What a big baby! My first son was 8lb 6oz, he was long and skinny and is now 15yrs and is still, tall and skinny!
I split up with Nathan's dad when Nathan was just a baby so I am really curious now as to what size my wee boy will be as neither myself or Gavin are very tall, so far I have been told our little one is average size.
I think it's normal procedure for the hospital to wait 24 hours before shunting to allow for measurements to come down by themselves and probably to allow yourself and partner some bonding time rather than them just whisking the baby away and leaving you upset.
I have been having b-hicks on a regular basis every day now and they are lasting over 30 seconds so doc is more convinced that it's the real thing, I have another scan tomorrow but baby's head is fully engaged so don't know if they will get much of a reading on the head measurements.I think they may hook me up to a monitor tomorrow to see if I'm in early labour!yikes!I may need steroids to mature the baby's lungs if I'm gonna go early.
It is usually around this last stage of pregnancy that you start having anxious nightmares and getting scared, I'm the same and this is my second!
By the time your in hospital, I promise you that you will be fine, the midwives and doctors are really good at keeping you calm and at least with the c-section, you will have it all over and done with in an hour and feel nothing where as I will be walking about like a cowboy for a week!
Both you and baba are in the best of hands and those 5cm's will mean nothing to you when that wee one is in your arms. Can't wait to see a photo of baba and you never know, I might have this wee one too next week the way things are going with me.
I will keep you posted on my scan tomorrow. As far as the house goes, it's never ending but we're getting there.
Take care, Ally xxxx

turtlemom - Wednesday, 20 August
No nightmares! Everything will be just fine. I hear we'll be pretty groggy the first day, but should be okay after that.
The weight of your little one is good! Perfect, even! It sounds like the head size isn't too big. That is a blessing. They suspect my little one will have her shunt surgery 24 to 48 hours after birth, too.
I'm well. I am getting antsy, though! My thoughts are with you! XOXO!

Hi irishgal'
Hoping your OK as I haven't heard from you in a wee while?
Just wishing you good luck for your c-section and lot's of kisses for that wee babe of yours (XXXX) when he/she is born. I think it's a boy!
Take care and try not to get too worried about your section as it will be over in no time and you will have that wee precious bundle in your arms. Oooh am so excited!
I know it may be difficult to keep in touch over the next few weeks but I look forward to hearing from you when you do get the chance.

RuthB - Thursday, 14 August
Hi, things could happen for us any time now, since our baby is now a day overdue. So just dropping in to wish you luck and let you know I'll be thinking of you and praying for you and that precious little babe of yours over the next weeks. Although if I end up having to be induced, our little'uns could be arriving at the same time!
All the best, Ruth x
