Yay! Week 17 already. This pregnancy is flying by, and dragging at the same time. I hopefully find out the baby's gender in two weeks, but my loopy doctor forgot to tell us when she was making the appointment for, so if she doesn't call in a couple days, I'll have to check up on her and make she atleast MADE an appointment!

Tuesday, 11 Dec
I'm excited to be in week 18. Every week that goes by makes this baby deal seem more real. Less likely to become another miscarriage statistic. My doctor finally called me back, but she waited too long to make the appointment so I don't get to find out if I'm doing pink or blue 'til December 26th. Oh, well. It could be a good thing, because the later it is, the clearer picture they'll get! I've been getting a lot of headaches. I refuse to take anything for them, though, because I'm way too paranoid that I'm going to lose the baby. I read that headaches can be linked to boy pregnancies, so I'll keep my fingers crossed and think blue thoughts. ;-)

Thursday, 27 Dec

Week 20, wahoo! half-way mark feels like such an accomplishment. It has flown by and it won `t be long now until my little girl is here in my arms instead of my belly. Yes, I did say GIRL. We had our ultrasound yesterday morning and she `s definitely a girl! YAY! I went out last night and bought a bunch of pink stuff to hang up in my room. Looking up at baby stuff is a very happy way to wake up every morning.

'What to expect when you're expecting', and 'What to expect the first year', are very good books for first time mommies...

I saw yourpost on the weight gain section. You need to eat throughout the day. Baby cannot just live off of your fat stored deposits. Even if itis just a small amount of fruit and some yogurt, you need energy as well to continue growing your beautiful baby. :)

If baby isn't having any health problems, contractions, even real ones, should not stress her out...

snowwhite5thbabe - Saturday, 22 Mar
Hi! Don't Dr.s just think they are God at times?
If your contractions are regular and 5 minutes (or less) apart for a couple of hours, and especially if you can't walk through them, just go to the hospital. Your Dr. may miss the delivery! They'll have a Dr. on call...
Good luck!

Thank You So Much! I was beginning to worry.

Valeriescheller - Thursday, 20 Mar
Ok, so I went to my midwife.. she said no change in cervix which is awesome.. She did however do the fibronctin test. ( Fern test) which can tell if labor will be within two weeks. I'll get results tomorrow!!!

Valeriescheller - Thursday, 20 Mar
Thank you for your reply! I go to my doc in 40 minutes... I'll be sure to tell her I wanna make sure I havn't dilated any more.
I just don't want her to think I'm crazy if things r fine! LOL

kryban - Tuesday, 18 Mar
thanks for the comments - I hadn't thought about the risk of cord prolapse. I am sure it is 2.5-3 b/c I have been 1cm from the start and this was a change. I am going for an u/s tomorrow so will ask plenty of questions then. Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice I am trying to enjoy the pregnancy but left and right people are not used to me gaining weight and they make me feel horrible to where I am in tears...its just so frustrating. But I was cleared to start jogging again and I am going to start using light weights and repetitions not to lose weight but tone up my arms and legs are getting CRAZY flabby...lol and it bothers me more than anybody.

erica1174 - Monday, 17 Mar
every thing i have heard about eating while pregnant is that you absolutely should not diet and it's better to graze in small meals throughout the day because you feel full quickly when you're pregnant. there's plenty of time to diet and restrict calories after the baby is born why risk it's health? i gained a bunch of weight so far but i keep telling myself after it's born i'll be a goddes in 6 months between the dieting breast feeding and stroller pushing!

danish-girl - Sunday, 16 Mar
I think thats a vice choice - we worry enough through our pregnancies. I'm sure everything is fine! Let me know how you go if you get the time :-)

If I was you I would definitely share that with my doctor - tell him all your concerns (about induced, longalasting labor and such) - contractions like you say you are experiencing them can also be a sign of other things. You should talk to your doctor, but thats just my opinion,

I wish you all the best!!

If you feel like you are having labor contractions, I would get checked out b/c you may be dilating. If so, then yes, the docs will try and keep you from delivering too early. I have to take Procardia right now to control contractions and I have to hook up to a monitor twice a day to check how many I am having. I am also on bed rest. I have had a previous preterm delivery so they are being extra cautious. I am dilated 1cm already but hoping to stay put there with the meds controlling the contractions and me staying off my feet. I do understand what you are saying about letting nature take its course and let your body do its thing. I agree, as long as you really are not in preterm labor. Anyway, good luck, keep us posted :)

dimpledemon - Saturday, 15 Mar
ive been having increasing contractions also. but i havent yet lost my mucus plug. my doctor gave me a uterine relaxer to prevent early labor. maybe just ask your doctor what he thinks. my doctor says its too early to be having these frequent contractions.

homebysunset - Friday, 14 Mar
I wouldn't feel the least bit comfortable with a doctor like that! Has she checked how far dilated you are? I'm at 2cm and they gave me tributaline (not sure on the spelling) but its the same stuff the give you as a shot in the hospital for pre term labor. I take one of those pills and the contractions are gone. If you're not comfortable with your doctor, ask to see her partner if she has one that way you aren't switching offices and have to start all over somewhere this late in the game. I'm in total shock FOR you! LOL Well best of luck on everything and keep my updated :)

whitty - Friday, 14 Mar
I lost my mucus plug last week and it was confirmed by the doc. They told me that it didn't mean that I would go into labor early but they did tell me to take it easy and lay down as much as possible so my body wouldn't get tired out. My doc also told me that as long as I wasn't having more than 6 BH contractions in an hour that it's normal at this point. However, if you are having painful contractions I would definitely contact your doc. Be sure to drink LOTS of water, it keeps the BH contractions at bay. Good Luck!

homebysunset - Friday, 14 Mar
Pass any info on you can to me about losing the plug, I lost mine about a week ago... A friend of mine lost her's at like the beginning of her 7th month and had her baby at 35 weeks, but her baby also had a 2 vessel cord and placenta previa... so really I have nothing to compare my situation to!

caracaya - Thursday, 13 Mar
You need to eat more food! You are not only starving your baby but you are poisoning it! Is it really worth looking like a model while pregnant that your child might end up being not only underweight and malnutritioned but also possibly poisoned? If you burn fat the toxins in the fat released are seriously harmful for your baby. Eat healthy and throughout the day. Don't gamble with the life of your child.

Angiepangie - Tuesday, 11 Mar
Try not to stress out over the weight gain... I gained about 38 lbs with my first pregnancy, and after a 4 day hospital stay I came home 20 lbs lighter! You'll be surprised how much of the weight is just fluid ( amniotic, and water retention). Depriving you and your baby of the vitamins and minerals you both need isn't wise. Remember, its only for a few more weeks, and if you breast feed, that is 500 calories every day that your baby will help you lose later!

mochas4me - Tuesday, 11 Mar
I saw your post on the weight gain topic and just thought i'd suggest talking to your doctor about it as well. 900 calories is not enough for you alone so not enough for you and the baby. women who are not pregnant and dieting usually cut themselves to a minimum of 1200 if they are not very active. they baby cannot receive nutrients from the mothers fat stores (they need vitamins, minerals, and calories to develop and these are transferred to them when you eat and are absorbing them yourself). this is probably why doctors won't let even obese women go on strict diets when pregnant. i would say when you can eat just pick the most nutritious items you can. i'm having trouble too. my stomache is so squished it does not seem like there's any room. i've been told just go with small frequent meals and snacks. hope this helps!

Throw your own freakin baby shower, I threw my own, and thank god, cause I got to do everything MY way, which is very important to me, lol, kind of a control freak- and mine was almost exactly 2 months b4 so right now I am buying everything I didn't get! If I had to wait until a wk b4 my due date I would have had a panic attack, especially because everyone seemed to completely ignore my registry. Not that I don't just love everything I got, but it meant there were alot of things I was left to buy for myself. Well, good luck with all this and Happy Pregnancy.

pinkb00h - Friday, 7 Mar
Not a problem. I just hope that you're able to get everything you NEED for the baby before it's born! Hopefully you'll get those surprise showers :) And good luck to you, too! Just 10 more weeks for you. I'm not too far behind ya. 12 to go for me! Well, 11. Since Monday I'll be 29 weeks. I can't wait :D

pinkb00h - Thursday, 6 Mar
Just read your baby shower post. Why not just throw it yourself? Or ask a friend to help you? That way YOU control what happens with it, and when it is. Having a shower 9 days before your due date is ridiculous. Your baby could be here 2 weeks BEFORE that! And you'd be stressing yourself out trying to put everything together and wash everything that needs to be washed. That's crazy. I'd help you throw a shower if I could! I hope you were able to eat your lunch :) Feel better!

AprilChristine - Thursday, 6 Mar
just read your post. I think you are completely right to be upset about the shower. I dont even have OCD, and I agree. 9 days before your due date is just not soon enough, for anyone I would think. I want mine at least a month ahead of time. My friend just had her baby, and she was a month early. Just had her shower, and didnt even have the car seats out of the boxes yet.

good luck with everything.

Heather-08-01 - Thursday, 6 Mar
Could someone else throw your shower? I completely understand - I a diagnosed OCD too (a little more O than C, but nonetheless). One of your friends has to be willing to help throw your shower - there is another way. I think it's selfish of your parents not to consider you in this whole process. Your guests will show up whenever the shower is scheduled - sounds to me like your parents are the ones tying to call the shots for their own convenience.
