Hey, nothing here yet!

Friday, 11 Jan Hello I am Jacqueline and I live in Scotland, I am expecting our second child and I am very excited about it, so far the pregnancy is going well just sickness for a few weeks and i am feeling bettter now though I have now got heart burn but it could be worse.

Sunday, 13 Jan Hi There, Here is my first scan picture taken on the 17th of December They dated me as being 11 weeks and 1 day at that time which was only a week behind my own dates so pretty accurate I think.I had a bad fall the other day and hurt my ankle and had to go to hosp, as i couldnt walk on it they were unsure if it was broken but were not keen to xray due to the risk of developement of the baby so I decided not to have an xray and if I still cant walk next week i will go back. I was worried in case I had hurt the little one but a mid wife told me it was very unlikely they wouldnt scan me as I had no symptoms to concern them and she said she wouldnt try to listen to the heartbeat as often at this stage you cant hear it anyway and she felt that would worry me too much but from reading comments from others on the site it seems as though lots of you have heard the heartbeat before 14 weeks so I was very disapointed. My foot is feeling a bit better though i am still using crutches and all seems ok with the baby as I am sure I am feeling occasional movement so fingers crossed. I will see my Doc at 16 weeks for my blood test and at that stage they will listen for a heartbeat and I get another scan at 20 weeks so I am really looking forward to that. I have bad heartburn now that i am feeling less sick I had no sickness with my little boy but real bad heartburn from week 13. !

Friday, 25 Jan Had my first proper doctors appointment today, Had blood pressure, weight (scary), Belly measurements, urine checked and Bloods taken. The best bit of all is I got to hear our little ones heartbeat i was so pleased as even though i have a little bump and i have been feeling tiny movements there is nothing as reassuring as hearing that the baby is there and alive ! The midwife said the heart rate was between 120 and 150 and it sounded good and strong to her. So now our next step will be our scan at 20 weeks I am so looking forward to that.

Thursday, 14 Feb Thank you all who responded to my query about the amnio, In the end we decided we would take the test and stay over in the city, even though the hosp said there was no need, So we had the test done on monday and amazingly the results of the rapid test were back on Tuesday afternoon and our baby does not have Downs , Edwards or Pateus so we are so pleased i felt a little achey and am still resting now at home, we will get the results of the full test for the rest of the chromosones in 2 weeks time but the hosp staff said it is very unlikely indeed to have any problems with them so they didnt go into any details about these results and what the could mean.

Sunday, 17 Feb Been a bit ill with a high temp, so was admitted to hospital for an overnight and one day, to assess me incase it was an infection in the womb due to the Amnio but doesnt seem to be so I am on antibiotics and back home to rest a bit more, I havent been to work at all this year as i hurt my foot in the first week in January and have on a doctors note from then until tommorow but I still am not well enough now with this I have no idea what they will say but now I dont care I will just leave if it is a problem as my baby is far more important and maybe after it comes I feel up to working night duties anyway with two to look after, i will find something to suit when they are older, the cash would be nice but healthy kids are more important than things, I cant wait until i have our 20 week scan on tuesday as i couldnt enjoy seeing the baby while the amnio was being done as i was in a state so roll on tuesday

Wednesday, 27 Feb We had our 20 weeks scan last week it was great, Baby is doing great all is fine with everything thank God. It has been worrying time and we still have to wait for the results of the full amnio test but I am sure it is all ok we are still trying to decide if we should find out the baby `s sex decisions decisions ! Monday, 3 MarAt last got the full amnio result and all is well, I feel I can truely start enjoying this pregnancy now.My work have offered me alternative employment doing paperwork and other lighter duties so everything is going great.

Tuesday, 4 Mar I have real strong cravings and have finished a whole big jar of gerkins in a couple of days, my Bro was going to get me some more but `FORGOT ` CAN YOU BELIEVE IT !

Thursday, 27 Mar

I have just found out about the peanut thing and feel really guilty as i have eaten half a jar this week, my midwife told me not to worry but not to eat any more.

Friday 4th April

Baby is soo active at the moment really kicking! It feels so great.

We are just getting over a bad cold but otherwise feeling good, I have put on a lot of weight but I seem to have been lying around doing nothing for so long with one thing and another it is no wonder hopefully if we stay healthy and the weather improves I will get out walking, and also when the holidays are over I will get some time to go swimming.

We are concidering telling our three year old he is going to be a big brother but are not quite sure the best time or way to do it, I have been on amazon ordering some books suitable so we will probebly wait till they come unless he asks anything before then, Afew days ago he climbed into bed with me and asked if he could see where the baby was in my tummy, I was shocked as we have been really careful not to say anything so he must of been told by a friend but when I gathered myself together and tried to talk to him about it he wasnt interested and just went of to play instead.

We were watchin T.V with our son last night and saw some babies on it which he said were really cute so we asked him if he could have a baby brother or sister what would he like he said neither as babies cry too much and then we reminded him about his best friends little sister and said you like her and then he said yes if he could have one like her he did want one after all. So slight headway has been made. Hurray!

My craving for all thing pickled espesically gerkins seems to of dissapeared, In fact I dont seem to be too bothered about food at all at moment which is highly unlike me but a good thing as I have put on so much weight.

11th April

Had my checkup today, all doing good they are going to see me fortnightly now due to my pre eclampsia last time but so far my blood pressure is down not up so I am feeling a bit faint but ok, baby growing well and sounding good, had bloods taken for glucose and iron.

22nd April

Saw mid wife yesterday as my feet had swollen and when I used my M.I.L's blood pressure monitor it was a lot higher than my usual. But luckily it had settled but I am now on weekly checks for pre eclampsia. I am to put my feet up in the evenings and not get stressed!, as if you have a choice to get stressed or not HA HA!! blood results were back and all good.

Our little boy now knows for sure he is going to be a big brother now and is delighted and he came with me to my check up so heard the babies heartbeat which he said sounded like a train.

28th April

Had B.P check all still good, I will see both the doc and mid wife on Friday.

Mid wife has given me dates for parenthood classes starting from next Tuesday, so I am looking forward to them, as I had none with my first, I know we managed fine with the birth and the first few weeks without anyone telling us what to do but it is still good to hear others opinions and to meet some other Mums as I feel I missed out on that first time.

Take it easy girl. Long stays in hospitals don't look like their any fun. Especially when your so far away form home. B.P. is a crazy thing in pregnancy. I watch Birthday and all the other pregnancy shows. They tell you that it's not good, but they don't really go into details of what can happen.
I read a delivery story of what one lady had to go thew and it was pretty scary, but everything is alright.
I guess just one of the many things that can go wrong during pregnancy.
You know, I starting to realize that you only enjoy pregnancy once it's over. Because while your pregnant, your too busy worrying about all the things that can go wrong. It's not till everything is over and you forget all the pain that you went threw you realize that everything went perfect. And then for the next ump years you get to worry about the person you created.
Boy life is fun!

Thanks so much I was so happy tears instantly started rolling by the time I got to the car I was balling all over the place. It was such a calming feeling. How is everything on your end?

babygal187 - Tuesday, 22 April
I guess every place has it's own beauty. I just have to promise myself to travel ouside of the country at least once.
Did you ever get to ask you doctor about the blood pressure? I think I need to do the same also. It could be normal, or it could be the start of something that needs to be addressed. You n ever know.
Talk to you later.

Nickey610 - Monday, 21 April
Pre eclampsia is one of my fears. I have been very stressed and have had a few bad headaches. But I have been trying to rest when I feel this coming on. I pray your alright as well. Continue to rest like you have been and I am doing the same.

Nickey610 - Monday, 21 April
Hi!! Nothign much going on here yet. I go back to the dr. on Friday so we will see how the little one is progressing. Hopefully evrything is growing on track this time. I know he is okay in there cuz he is kicking me like crazy I might get a few minute break in between. My first son wasn't this active. How is everything with you?

babygal187 - Wednesday, 16 April
Ruined Castles! I take it your not in the states? Scotland! I bet you have a lot of scenery to look at out there. And I bet it beautiful.
That would be soo cool if we had things like that in the Midwest. He have Cahokia Mounds, and rivers, but no castles. Lots of woods though.
As a photographer, I would love to have something historic like that in my area.
You are soo lucky!

babygal187 - Saturday, 12 April
At least your starting to get stuff together so he knows that someone else is coming and he will have to share and the new baby will also be a part of the family too. It also helps that they are involved with planning for the new baby. Or at least they feel like they are helping you plan for the baby. My son thinks he had a hand in naming this one and that he is this one's daddy. It's sort of cute. I haven't quite got anything else together yet. Maybe I should start soon. It would be nice to have it all set of for a while before the baby comes. But them my first might get into the habit of constantly asking when will the baby be here. I know there's no way he can grasp the concept of time at his age.
My son had a bad fever at the beginning of this week. And my friend's son a few days before that and they haven't seen each other in months. So they didn't get it form each other. It must be the weather or something that's going around everywhere. My son was horse, coughing, lethargic, and running a fever. It was sad because he would bring his toys out to play with and then just lay there on a blanket and look at them. It was soo sad. You know their sick when they don't play with all their toys at least once in a day. I felt so bad for him.

babygal187 - Tuesday, 8 April
Well, at least he agreed to it a little bit. I think with kids you have to always put it in terms of playmates. They like that a lot better. Even though it will be a while before they can play. I think my son is just tired of being an only child. He's used to being at daycare and having other kids around. At home it's just me, him, and my boyfriend. I ask my son what he wanted this baby to be named and he said Captain Megatron! Jazzy, ZZ, or Little Phoenix, which Phoenix is his name. He's really in to Transformers. So it could be worse. I always said if he came up with a name that worked I would use it.

babygal187 - Monday, 7 April
My son just turned 4 and I've sort of been telling him the whole time he's going to be a big brother. I first started asking if he would like a little brother or sister. Some days it a brother, others it's a sister. Then I tell him that he's going to have a baby brother or sister once day and that it's in mommy belly. I think it helps that he's around cousins that already have brothers or sisters coming along. So I think he already understands what they are and that he will have a new little pay mate soon. I also like to ask him to pay attention when he sees babies because he has to help mommy care for the baby. I think that makes him feel like he'll be helping mommy and a part of everything. I don't really push it and make it like the baby is going to be the center of attention, but I just tell him from time to time that the baby is coming and what his name is.
I think it also helps that my son will be 4 1/2 by the time the baby arrives. He's pretty much so interested in his toys and doing his own thing that the only problem will be that the new baby can't get up and play right off the bat.
The only problem I'll have is cuddle time. I'll have to find time to cuddly all my boys. My boyfriend included. I already have times when my boyfriend and my son both try to crawl into my lap and see who mommy will give affection to. I can just imagine in a couple years adding this one to the mix.

Nickey610 - Monday, 7 April
I am glad I could help.....My son had been telling people that his Grandma (my mom) was having a baby so she finally had to tell him she wasn't so I had to go ahead and tell him mommy was having the baby and he actually was excited. He started telling me how he would change his pamper and feed him etc. I think I may have misjudged him. Now he is very aware of jumping on me and stuff, so far not annoying. Prayfully you will have the same luck!!

jenndmamma - Saturday, 5 April
Hi, I just saw your post about letting your three year old son know he is going to be a big brother. My sister showed her two year old son a picture of him when he was a baby and told him he was going to get another baby like he was in the picture to play with. He then would smile and look at her belly and say, "baby". There are no best ways, but if it helps any. Now that he has two siblings, the youngest who is two looked at my belly and laughed while saying, "she can sleep in my bed" when she comes. It was so cute.

Nickey610 - Friday, 4 April
Hello...I actually have not told him yet. I think he would handle it fine being an only child he is often lonely. But I know that he will drive me crazy asking when the baby will be here so this is why I am still holding out. I think I might wait maybe one more month then tell him. He's already asking questions about the baby stuff we keep buying. Blessings....

MamaE - Friday, 4 April
Hello! I have a 2 1/2 yr. old son whom I told very on about my pregnancy. He's been SUPER excited about it and rubs my belly and also talks into my belly button to his little sister. I think it's a good idea to tell them sooner than later and have them be a huge part in it. Make it exciting by playing up him being a BIG brother. Tell him all the things he can do to help with the baby. Also, my hubby and I say OUR baby instead of the baby. He thinks it great and he's soooo excited. Good luck, kids are so resilient and he'll probably except it wonderfully. Like I said, as long as he sees how happy you are about it he will be too. CONGRATS! ;-)

tylersmom - Friday, 4 April
I have a 3 year old son and we told him right away, he didn't understand right away, but now that my belly is growing he understands that there is a baby in my belly. We include him in everything, he comes to all my doctors appointments, he helps us pick out baby items and he feels the baby move all the time, we wanted to tell him right away so we all had time to adjust and so he wasn't left out of anything. I would tell your 3 year old soon so he/she doesn't feel left out and try to include him/her in the baby events so he/she still feels important. Good Luck

wendy1stbaby - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Thank you for responding and letting me know that other people go throught things like this too. Men are weird and I'll just have to understand that. Well good luck with your 2nd pregnancy.

smerty - Monday, 3 Mar
CONGRATS!!! That is great :0)!!! Yeah I eat blocks of cheddar cheese each day haha... and I must have pickles daily... and then there is the needing mustard as the one and only condament (which I typically do not like any of those items!!!) So I can relate in the weird craving department! It is funny to see the changes :0) I found that Tums are my best friend for heart burn... the doctor said they are safe and they work well... SHE WAS RIGHT!!! Hope the heart burn gets better! CONGRATS AGAIN!!! This sure is an exciting time!

smerty - Friday, 29 Feb
Thanks :0) We are stoked haha! I was convinced he was a little girl!!! I even had a bet going with my doc haha!!! I could not be happier that I am having a little boy first! You will have to post when you know what you are having (even if it is delivery day!!!) EXCITING!!! Congrats either way!!!

smerty - Thursday, 28 Feb
I use to hate sour but LOVE IT NOW!!! I thought I was having a girl from all the 'signs' that there were with carrying, cravings, gender charts, heart rate hahaha and so much more! But... I am having a precious baby BOY!!! We are ecstatic but it was definately a shock cause I was focusing on the signs :0) Best of luck to you!!!

jessiebee - Thursday, 28 Feb
Thats funny..Im kinda the opposite. I used to love sour stuff but during pregnancy I cant stand it and I go for sweet stuff more often and Im having a boy :)

oldie44 - Thursday, 14 Feb
By the way, did they do some visualization of body parts and took measurments? I think it is a part of procedure. My Dr. was not very talkative with me, but I called the office and asked to pull the u/s results and they told me that he saw brain and all the major organs and measurements were within normal limits. So, it made me feel better in terms of other possible structural abnormalities that could happen, not related to chromosmes. I am having more detailed, level 2 u/s in 2 weeks (that will be performed by the same Dr who did amnio), but my genetic counselor does not think that something bad will show up 3 weeks after amnio's u/s.

oldie44 - Thursday, 14 Feb
O, I am so very happy for you, don't you feel better after everything is behind!? My final amnio will, hopefully, be ready tomorrow. It was not ready after 14 days. My genetic counselor told me that she does not anticipate any surpirses, since FISH was good, but I am still a little anxious.

oldie44 - Sunday, 10 Feb
Hi, I did amnio twice, and would do it again. I am 44 and blood tests showed 1:500 for DS and I still went. I:200 risks for amnio are very outdated, it is more like 1:1600 if done by a specialist. I did not want to bring a sick child in the world, that was my position. To be honest, being 30 and having risk that high would make me worry for the rest of my PG. I did nuchal transuceny test, wich was good and still did amnio. I wanted peace of mind instead of stressing myself for 9 months.

talitha - Sunday, 10 Feb
I had the same test done. They said that I had a 1/31 chance. When they looked at the ultrasound they said that everything else seemed normal and that there were sertain sighns that would show the baby had DS. Like Cleft Lip, short pinkey finger on the hands, thick skin on the back of the neck, and that they would have some heart, kidney, and brain problems. And the baby had none of those problems. They also told me that the baby may come out just fine and the only way you can do anything about the baby having DS is to abort. I didn't have the amnio test done. And I thought it was to riskey. I'm Happy that i'm pregnant and If God wanted it anyother way he would do something about it. I pray that everything goes well with my pregnancy and I hope you stay in good Faith and everything goes well with you an the Baby.
