Hello,
my husband, Troy, and I have been happily married for 6 years, born and raised in New Zealand, we now have settled in Brisbane, Australia. Have two cats and one dog.....and one little angel not on this earth.........
Unfortunately i suffer from Anitphospholipid Syndrome (diagnosed 1999 after a mini stroke), and during pregnancy had eclampsia.
Right from 6 weeks prego I had high blood pressure, tiredness, visual disturbance like fireworks going off in my eyes, headaches. I was taking aspirin, started on methyldopa at 6 weeks, and then labetalol at 16 weeks and then clexane self injections at 16 weeks. At 21 weeks i had an eclamptic seizure, the outcome of this was not good.
Not only did i come close to losing my own life I lost my baby, Jamie Rose at 23 weeks. The eclampsia stopped the growth of Baby and oxygen flow was poor due to blood clotting in the placenta from the Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome.
Chances of this scenario happening in future pregnancies is 40 - 50% for me. Scary thought! and it is daunting to think I have to possibly go through this again....
I look ahead now , the difficulties with pregnancy next time around and how nervous I will be! from losing my first child i have realised just how many women have also lost their loved little one.
Information on Antiphospilipid Syndrome and techniques to minimise symptoms i would appreciate Any treatment information , relating to Gamma Gloubin transfusion would be extremely helpful. - has anyone out there tried this transfusion for APS sufferers during pregnancy???
Any advice as to surrogacy within Australia and New Zealand would be also be helpful, legalities, cost etc etc.
Thanks for reading!
