I've been thinking of you. Did you go for the MRI yet?

beanerz - 47.6 hours ago
I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you and wishing you the best for the MRI. I know how scary this must be for you as a few weeks ago I had to undergo a series of tests when they thought that my baby was at high risk for neural tube defects. Hang in there and keep us posted! xox

I never had a MRI. I asked about it and our High Risk OB said that his Level 2 ultrasound was going to show us as much as the MRI would. It seems like most serious cases get the MRI, but we didn't. Holoprosencephaly is a scary condition. I bet it was just noted because of the cleft lip/patate. It is a good sign that the amnio was clear! Maybe the MRI will give you a better idea and hopefully eliminate this as a possibility. Please let me know how the MRI goes. My thoughts are with you. I know exactly how you feel.

Hi there,

I saw your comment on lindsaymorrow's blog page. My daughter was diagnosed with severe Hydrocephalus at my 18 week scan. You can read the details on my profile. She is now 14 months old and is developing normally.

It seems like the prognosis for similar cases in Europe is not as good as in the US. I'm not sure why that is. I have several friends on this site in England, Ireland, etc that received horrible advice from their doctors (termination, etc). In the US, the doctors seem to be a little more optimistic.

Did they see any other anomolies on the scan? Normally isolated cases have the best prognosis. My Godson is 3 and acquired Hydro as a result of a brain bleed because he was a preemie. I quickly became an expert on the subject and then it happened to me. I'm happy to answer any questions. I know exactly how you feel.

Blessings to you and yours!
