Sunday, 1 June Pump after her last night feeding once she's gone to sleep. That way daddy can give her at least 1 bottle a day! NewBeginings -
Sunday, 1 June what we do is through out the day i feed her every 3-4 hrs then pump every 1.5-2 hrs inbetween feedings. I have to work so this inables me to have enough stored in the freezer for him to use while i am at work. Once you get a good pump routeen down you will stop getting engourged. I feed her about 27 oz a day and i store a good 12 oz a day on top of that and i hardly ever get engourged n e more. if you do feel engourged motrin helps with the ache.
if you dont want to pump again he can help with the little stuff so hes still involved my bf burps her brings me water and will set up the bobby or pillows. some times he will sit next to me and rub her back or her little head so she knows hes there too.
good luck lauren8681 -
Saturday, 31 May What I did was just started pumping once a day. I wait until the baby is asleep and then I pump, that gives me enough for one feeding. If you do that everyday, your body will adjust to jjust having an extra feeding, and then you can build up a supply in the freezer and dad can feed whenever he wants. Just make sure that when dad is feeding her, that you are pumping at the same time or you will get engorged. :) leahsmom -
Friday, 30 May If you are willing to try the pump again, that is the best way to let Dad have a turn feeding the baby without having to introduce formula. I pump in the morning on one side after she has nursed on the other. I usually get 4oz for the freezer and about 2 oz extra that I can give her in the bottle later on. If you could even get a few oz he could give it to her later in the day. The lactation nurse told me that the supply was up in the morning. I have been pumping every day since she was home from the hospital- Not my favorite part of the day and sometimes it is still uncomfortable. But, I am working on a stockpile of breast milk for her when I go back to work half time. My hubby is not as keen on feeding her the bottle because she is still getting used to the nipple and often refuses it. He will have her 2 days per week though, starting in September. So, it's in his best interest that she takes the bottle without much fuss. So, we just keep practicing. She is getting better at it. Good luck!
