27.3 hours ago Thanks Jen. You are so sweet and we certainly appreciate the prayers. She starts treatment on Thursday. Apparenlty there is some new pill for this type of cancer that works better than chemo and has hardly any side effects. The doc sounded really optimistic. Her hair will get curlier and she will have a rash over her body, but other than that, no real bad symptoms. On a positive note, I got a new job today as a Kindergarten teacher for this fall. I had to go to the interview with puffy eyes but blamed it on being sleep deprived from a newborn in the house :) I went out and had 5 margaritas last night after I found out. My inlaws came and got the kids because I couldn't stop crying. I hated being away from Brody over night this quickly but he was in a much better place with them. I was a total basket case and the margaritas and time with just my hubby helped me calm down, relax and now I am just focusing on the positive. She can beat this. She is a tough cookie and said she is not giving up, she's a real fighter! kay17 -
46.1 hours ago Just found out my mom has stage 4 bone cancer and its on her lung. Words can't describe how devestated I am. Would appreacite any prayers you can send up for her. kay17 -
Sunday, 18 May Hey! I know just how you feel about the breast feeding. I could never get Alexis to breastfeed. I tried and tried to get her to latch on and she never would. I cried for a week over it and was so upset, just like you. I recently took her for her first dental appt and the first thing the dentist said was--"you never breastfeed her, did you?" Come to find out she has a bad underbite and he said she would never have been able to breastfeed. There are just some things we can't control, but at the end of the day at least we tried our best. I have the opposite problem with Brody than you have, my boobs don't make enough to keep up with him! I took him for his one month check up yesterday and he is already weighing 12lbs 4oz!! He latches on sometimes, but for the most part I pump and give it to him in a bottle. The nurse practioner scared me at his docs office yesterday, she said he's pulling too hard to breathe. I am trying not to panic because last time she told me he had a weird heart beat and we went to the cardiologist and everything checked out ok. She is sending us back, so I have him and my mom to worry about! Crazy! Thanks for the prayers. I def need them! If Travis still acts gassy on the regular formula, they do make a sensitive one for fussy and gassy babies that doesn't cost more. I know Similac's version is Similiac Sensitive and Enfamil's is Naturalease or something like that. Check it out if you continue to have problems. May help. I finally just put Brody on the hypoallergenic one. He has the worst gas and is pretty fussy and its made a huge improvement. I doubt I'll be breastfeeding that much longer, its just hard pumping all the time and doing everything else. I will check out that site you suggested. Sounds good. I'll try to post some new pics soon, but I as I am sure you understand, things are so hectic. I just get enough time to logon and post and that is about it! My mom finds out her results tomorrow, so I'll let you know. I went and cleaned her house for her today because she can't so I am even mroe tired. I am about to go and take a nap while my hubby stays up with Brody for the next few hours. I'll talk to ya soon! K kay17 -
Friday, 16 May Yeah, its been busy and I am TOTALLY sleep deprived, but doing well. Brody is latching on much better so its making life a little easier not having to pump all the time. How is little Travis doing? As for the other site, I am kay17 so you can see my posts by my name. You can just read what everyone has to say or sign up and join the discussion. I love to bounce my questions off of everyone, because we all have kids the same age so are all going through the same thing. Its great. Talk to ya soon. Hugs to little Travis!

Monday, 5 May Hey! I remember when we first got preggo, you like sushi too, don't you? Well go and have yourself a spicy tuna roll. I did and let me tell you, it was wonderful! :) The wine cooler was great too by the way! :) I had to switch Brody to the super duper expensive formula--the hypoallergenic one. Crazy price, but I am hoping it will stop him from hurting so much. He has so much gas and I can't stand to see him in so much pain. Mylicon drops were helping a little but not great. He curls up his little legs and is just miserable, so hard to comfort him. He does fine on my milk, but like I said, this kids eats so much, my boobs can't keep up! I got him to latch on again today for 10 minutes but like Travis, when he came off, getting him back on just wasn't happening. He just knows that a bottle is so much easier, I guess. I am going to continue to pump everyday and try to get him to latch on everyday because I want it to work so bad, especially considering the price of the new formula, I save myself a ton of money every time he gets a bottle of my milk! When I pump, I am making between 4-6 ounces in 10 minutes, so pretty good. It took a while for my milk to come in for me too. I have that super fancy medela electric pump but it is no comparison to the Avent manual pump. I have both and the Avent pump makes more so much quicker, its weird. $50 vs $250 and the cheaper one works better for me, go figure! Too funny, I know what you mean about the squirt bottle. I just stopped doing that a few days ago. I kept doing it for a good while. You are lucky not to have any stiches. I have so many, its crazy! What helped me feel better was taking a bath with Epsom salts every day. Might help you too. Yay on the 15lbs and just watch as the swelling goes down, even more will come off! I have like 8lbs left to lose now and he's only 3 weeks old. I am so happy. I thought I was going to be HUGE this summer, but have some hope now! Hang in there and I'll talk to you soon. Hugs to you and little Travis. (())) K kay17 -
Monday, 5 May ps-he is a little clone of your hubby! Looks just like him!!!!! kay17 -
Monday, 5 May Hey Jen! I am just getting on here for the first time all weekend. Hubby went on his annual guys river trip so I was home all weekend by myself with both kids, its been a little crazy! Yay Yay Yay! I am so glad that Travis is here! I know you must be so glad to finally hold him in your arms! He is a handsome little guy and looks like he has a nice head of hair like Brody! :) Nice size too! Not too little, not too big, just perfect! So did your epidural work? LIke I said, mine worked wonders with Alexis but completely wore off with Brody and I was in agony! :( If they worked during the delivery, its wonderful, but this time I felt every stitch going in! :( How are you doing down there? Did you have to get stitches or are you ok? I am still suffering. Going to the bathroom is still pretty painful. I look at his huge head though and am not suprised it still hurts ! :) Still can't believe I pushed out almost a 10lb baby! So how is Travis doing? Is he pretty content right now? Brody is starting to get colicky :( I am pumping and he does so well when he drinks my breast milk but I had to switch him to Similac Sensitive because he's just so gassy when he's taking the formula. I can't seem to make enough to feed this hungry guy so I am having to supplement with formula. He's latched on a few times, but breastfeeding just doesn't come easily for me. They gave him a bottle in the hospital because he had low blood sugar when he was born and I guess he figured out from that point on, that a bottle was much quicker! Oh well, I've written a novel here. I am so excited for you though!!! I am about to go and enjoy a wine cooler for the first time :) haha. Isn't this nice to not be preggo anymore?! :) mybundleofjoy -

Wednesday, 30 April I can't imagine b/c you know how miserable I was and I was just shy of hitting 39 weeks :( Have you tried some at home accupuncture tips? This may help, I am posting my notes that I found on the web that I was doing. Stripping the membranes worked for me, but maybe this will work for you:
Step 1: Push on the hoku spot which can be found on the top of your hand. It is located in the webbing between your forefinger and your thumb. Massage this area at an angle to stimulate contractions. It may feel slightly tender in this area. This affects the large intestine which surrounds a portion of the uterus.
Step 2: Rub the area called spleen 6 for one minute. To find this area, place four fingers above your ankle bone on the inside of your ankle. Applying pressure to this point helps ripen the cervix and strengthen weak contractions.
Step 3: Find the bladder 32 spot by tracing one finger width above the buttocks crease. You should feel a small indentation at this point. Massage this point for one minute.
Step 4: Apply pressure to BL60 to help the baby descend toward the pelvis. You can find this spot between your ankle bone and Achilles tendon.
Step 5: Press and rub these spots in a circular motion. It should feel sore or tender but not painful. Remove pressure when you feel a contraction. Continue with the acupressure after the contraction has subsided.
Step 6: Repeat applying pressure to these spots. You can repeat up to six cycles per time. Apply less pressure if it becomes painful.
Good luck Jen! Just remember if all else fails, you've got your induction date! Brody has his days and nights mixed up and is a little night owl. Soon we can talk about sleep deprivation together! :) mrsjcarr -
Wednesday, 30 April LOL to your comment! Trust me I will be saying the same thing in a few days. I am due May 3, but I doubt I will have her by then. My profile will read negative 6 days before I have a chance of being induced. Take care and I feel your pain. kay17 -
Tuesday, 29 April Hey Jen! Well darn, saw that you were on here 6 hours ago, was hoping that membrane stripping had worked! :( He must be cozy in his mommy's tummy :) I'll check on ya in a few days. I know you've at least got your induction coming up. Yay! MamaMissy -

Monday, 28 April Hi! Is baby here yet???? kay17 -
Friday, 25 April Don't give up hope, I didn't have any bleeding either with either of my kids. With Alexis my water broke 2 days later, with Brody I started contractions about 9 hours after the procedure, but not a single symptom before just like you. Glad that at least you have an induction date in sight though! I'll keep checking on ya! You are in my thoughts. Hugs and hang in there (())) K kay17 -
Friday, 25 April Ok, keep me posted. 39 weeks, I know you are miserable! :( Hoping Travis isn't as huge as Brody was! Here's hoping for a 7lber that comes quickly and painlessly for ya! Hugs (()) K excitedmom2be!!! -
