I had my first ultrasound which changed my due date and put me back two weeks! Ugh! But we are both healthy and I am so thankful!

November 6, 2007

We heard the heartbeat this morning!! 160 and doing very well! I also found out that somehow I have only gained 2 lbs. Apparently, I lost a weight and have gained it all back just in my belly and chest! I had no idea! Thought at least 8 lbs! :) But we're doing great and next appt, Dec 4.

Its official! We are having a wonderful baby boy! He is doing very well and weighs 9oz!

January 7, 2008 ~ 20 weeks. I told my doc that I have not felt the baby move a lot and she told me to go home and concentrate. So I did and guess what? I felt him and it was wonderful! Now I know what to look for and feel so much better my little angel is growing so strong!

February 5, 2008 ~ 24 weeks and 17 pound weight gain! Feeling great, just some normal aches and pains... growing pains!

February 22, 2008 ~ My wonderful, fantastic aunt passed away today and I am devastated by it. Trying hard to stay strong. When I get too upset, I definitely feel it effects my little one. Trying to focus on our memories and what a wonderful person she is. I know my little baby has an angel looking after him!

March 4, 2008 ~ 28.2 weeks Wow! Time is flying. I wish I kept a better journal on here of how I was progressing and what I was feeling. Oh well. Next time:) Had my glucose test today. It wasn't so bad. I didn't really feel much different after drinking the drink so I believe I'm going to be fine with that test.

Have gained a total of 24 pounds! Feels like so much but I really don't have a say in it. I don't eat junk food and I never overeat, so I'm convinced this is just the weight I am supposed to put on. My little boy is doing great and I am truly blessed!

Just working on getting things set for our little boy's debut! Baby Shower March 29, 2008 - Can't wait! Invites went out and people are already buying things for my little one. Makes me feel so good that we will have everything he needs. So excited!

March 5, 2008 ~ I found out today I failed my glucose test, so I have to take the three hour. I'm a little down, but I'm hoping for the best. I feel like I can handle anything that is wrong with me, as long as my little angel is strong and healthy. And he is doing great so I feel blessed! Whatever I have to do to keep him safe:)

March 6, 2008 ~ I had the best day today! I went for a pregnancy massage and a manicure, and when I got home, my husband had baked me a cake! I love cake! He'd never made a cake before, and it was so sweet. He is going to be such a great father. I am so lucky! Tomorrow I go for my 3 hour Glucose Test and am so glad he is going with me.

March 8, 2008 ~ I was hugging my husband at the airport and our baby kicked him! Like he was saying goodbye to his daddy... it was a precious moment! He is getting so strong I can sometimes see my belly move! Loving it!

March 10, 2008 ~ Passed my 3 hour glucose test ... no GD!!! The very best birthday present.

March 11, 2008 ~ Today I had to go to the ER because of a marked decrease in fetal movement. We found the heartbeat, but it was difficult to get a constant reading. After a few hours, finally, we were able to get a satisfactory read. It was heaven to hear and feel my little angel moving and kicking the fetal monitor... music to my ears. We don't know what caused it, hopefully we'll know more tomorrow when I see the doc.

March 12, 2008 ~ Went to the doc today to as a follow-up from my ER visit. She recommended I stop working now because the stress is just too much and endangering Ethan.

March 17, 2008 ~ Based on my doc's recommendation, I now work from home. No more running around the tri-county area and running myself ragged. This was the best compromise and my bosses were very happy they still have me as I'll be out completely in just a short time. I already feel better and know this is the absolute right thing for my little guy!

March 29, 2008 ~ BABY SHOWER! Fantastic wonderful Baby Shower!

April 3, 2008 ~ We had an ultrasound today and my little (or not so little) guy is weighing in at 5 lbs! The average baby weighs nearly 4 lbs now, so we're either farther along then they think or he is a bog baby (like his daddy was:). I'll have to ask next visit. Total weight gain at 32.5 weeks = 28 lbs. Doc says I'm doing great with the weight so all is good!

April 14, 2008 ~ I went to the office today (I only go in about once a week and do most of my work from home now). They surprised me with a shower and had all chipped in and bought us our big boy Britex car seat! We also got Neiman Marcus outfit, rattle and blanket... so beautiful and soft! I was so blown away they did that for us. Just wonderful!

April 15, 2008 ~ Doctor's appt. Strong heartbeat and measuring well. Ethan weighs 6 lbs now. I've gained a total of 29 lbs. Doctor is starting to seriously consider a c-sect, he is just so big!

April 19, 2008 ~ Our best friends, Jeff and Toni's wedding. I was supposed to be a Bridesmaid but am just way too pregnant. Scott was a Groomsman. Jeff set Scott and I up on a blind date, and I set Jeff and Toni up and the rest is history! Sending them lots of baby dust! (And yes, I wore my green dress from my Baby Shower and just hope it holds out for one more wedding on May 3:)

April 28, 2008 ~ Well, its official. My engagement ring is going in to the safe until after I give birth. But I can still wear my wedding band because I never got it sized so it is a little bigger. So I guess I have fat fingers! :) But I know it is water retention, not weight gain, since I have not gained any weight recently so that's ok! Hopefully my band will hold out! I'm ready to meet you, Ethan!!!

April 30, 2008 ~ Went to the police station this morning to have our car seat inspected for installation. Daddy-to-be got an A+! He is going to be an amazing father!

May 1, 2008 ~ Went to the doctor's today. We are not dilated but she could feel his head. He has a little while to go. I might be ready, but he's not:) But I'm glad I have some more time to get things done. Also had the Group B Strep test, no big deal. We got some clarification that what I am feeling is in fact contractions so now I know to pay more attention. We go back next Thursday.

are u nursing? most of the time your doc and pediatrician will tell you to continue prenatal vitamins as long as you're nursing, and to help your body through healing (i think) but i don't think i ever stopped taking them even after nursing with my others, but i was usually pregnant again when i stopped nursing lol. but it is good for you to continue with them. anyway

Well, my doctor asked me to keep taking the vitamins. Part of it because I was having some bleeding due to some fibroids they found when I was pregnant. I think it's safe and even recommended. But I think you should ask to the doctor to make sure.

My DR told me to keep taking the prenatal vitamins for 6 weeks. There is nothing wrong with taking them, they are a "strong" vitamin. Many DR's will tell you take them if you are trying to get pregnant to. So they are perfectly safe to take when you are not pregnant!

I was told to continue to take my prenatals until 6 weeks if not breastfeeding and until I stopped breastfeeding if I was. They said your body is trying to repair itself and the uterus doesn't return to normal until 6 weeks so the vitamins help.

i know a man- my brother in law- who takes prenatals because he loves what it does to his hair! prenatals are great vitamins, you can take em whenever, if your ar nursing you NEED to keep taking them :) hope that helps

I was told to continue taking pre-natals, but not told for how long. They have lots of extra iron and thing are bodies need, as it takes a while for our bodies to recover. Congrats on your baby boy!!

hey just read your post bout the prenatal vitamins. i actually asked my doc on my last appointment when i should stop taking them because he told me when i had the baby, to keep taking them. he said we can take them as long as we want. they're just basically a STRONG multi vitamin. hope that helps ya! xoxoxox

im actually in kendall .. but w/e its still miami .. sorry for taking so long to write back . its hard to get on here when my baby is stuck to my boob :) your baby is beautiful btw... and yes the weather sucks i have been stuck home too and all my outings have been quick cuz i dont want him to get sick .. miami sucks! i delivered at baptist in kendall you>? and yea very happy im still not prego cuz the heat is fr4eakin rediculus i swear i think it gets hotter every year , hows the baby ?

I can't believe how fast time has gone since having Ashton! - he's doing great - such a joy, he's started smiling and he holds his head up well, and is very alert!
Are you getting much sleep? - ashton is pretty good, waking up twice in the night for feeds but he settles well afterwards. My hubbie is also a great help - very hands-on (when he's not working).. he stays up with ashton sometimes so i can get some sleep! (i express milk for him to give ashton)..

I'm sorry that he wasn't doing so hot. I know that it is terrible when they fail their arms and legs, face gets all red and they scream blood murder...and you have no idea what is going on. I am glad that he seems to be doing a little better. What times of day does he cry? What makes it better?

YAY for your 6 week appt! Have you been on iron and eating lots of iron enriched foods? I lost a lot of blood with my surgery and they put me on all kinds of iron...but it's constipating and the Percocet is very constipating as well...so they aren't a good combo.

I need to go back and read your birth story again...because I forgot about your epi. Did they get it in ok with your spine? I think I do remember that it didnt' work like mine. Did they have problems though?

Walks are wonderful. I think that it is a bit scary taking them out alone. What are your worries?

I took Johnny out by myself for the first time to go to the ortho doctor on Wednesday. It went ok...just stressful. The carseat is still painful for me to pick up...plus we have a big Yukon and he is in the middle of the back seat. I was SO annoyed at the office EVERYONE all these strangers were trying to grab/touch him. One guy asked me if he could take him out of his carseat. UM NO! We bought one of these mirrors at BRU's. If you don't have one...get one. It will ease your worries a lot. You put it on the backseat. You can just look in your rearview mirror and see their faces. This way you know what is going on and how he is while you are driving:)

Why don't you try to take him to BRU's first and just take it easy. Do you need to buy any other major things for him?

What are you doing this weekend?

This weekend...we had a wedding last night. It was beautiful. They got married in a meadow up in the mountains. It was STUNNING. They came in on a horse drawn carriage. This family has been friends with ours since my dad and their dad were 20! Anyhow, one of the brothers just had a baby June 1st so it was great to be with them. It was a small wedding so we weren't worried about exposing him. John will only have one day off in two weeks:( BUT...my dad is coming over today! Not much else planned this weekend.

He is great! He was already 10 pounds, 7 ounces on the 11th when I had his first month check ... he is an eating machine... the boy eats every 2 hours during the day but only wakes up once to eat in the middle of the night,,, he has slept throught the night a few times...it's getting easier now... is your boy sleeping on his crib already? Mine still on the bassinet since I am still nursing once in the middle of the night.... so what are you doing when you go back to work? I just started interviwing babysitter this week and I think I found somebody... It breaks my heart to think I will be leaving him but I am dying to work again... I feel a bit bored at home all day!! I go back to work on august 4th... how about you?

WoW! 10pouns 2 oz? Impressive~! That is so exciting:) What was his birth weight again? DRINKING FIVE ounces? OMG. WOW. Are you bottle or breastfeeding? That is so impressive.

Johnny is doing great. He is getting bigger. He is still wearing the preemie outfits, but they are snug and I think they ran big because he can wear 5-8lbs outfits they are just long on him. I am seriously more in love every day!

This week we bought a great Pack N Play and a swing! Do you have those yet? We are STILL working on the nursery lol.

Yes, actually John had to go to work the day after we got home from the hospital. WE did NOT expect to be in the hospital into the 6th day. He has been working 6 days a week since then...BUT...my parents live an hour away and for a couple weeks they were coming as often as they could. Once I was able to pick up the baby from the bassinet I didn't need as much help. Now my parents and my in laws will plan on coming once a week each to see the baby and help.

Alyvia's getting real alert too. I love it! She's also awake a lot more during the day, too. She's actually passed out in my arms right now though.. I've been up with her since 6am, and we only got an hour nap since then. Had to take her to the dr this morning - apparently she has acid reflux! She's been spitting up/throwing up more than normal, & it's causing her to cough a lot, too. I feel so bad :( Hopefully she'll wake up later and stay up, so she'll sleep tonight. I went to bed around 2am this morning. She was passed out in her daddy's arms when I went up to bed, but woke up around 3am then 6am, so I've only gotten abou 3 hours of sleep today! I think I'm gonna take another nap with her - I don't need my body more sleep deprived so I get sick again!

Hope you're sleeping well whenever you can, too! It really is true when they say once you have a kid you'll never sleep again!

aww thanks,,,, she was screamimg today boy! WOW! i had a stomach ache and headache so maybe she had the stomach ache too, i was ready to say forget it i'm not BF anymore i hate seeing her in pain, but then my friend gave me a pep talk and i feel better continuing to BF, i just hate seeing her sad! she was up from like 9-2! dosed off maybe half hour in there somewhere but she wasn't happy the whole time, then BAM gas came out and she was fast asleep! shes on her belly though because i figured she'd sleep better and she is so far..

Yeah I go back to work soon, and I know it has benefits (money..lol) I just havent been away from him since he has been born, I need to, just so I dont go in shock when I go back to work, he will be going to a sitters house I work Sat. Sun Mon. 12 hr. shifts so we only need care for one day, and the day care centers wanted more days then one day, so I found a really nice lady, but it still makes me nervous.....

hey!i amnot going back to work, i can always go in one day if i want, i worked for close family friends so its easy, and brian doesn't work in winter...he owns a hardscape buisness so most work in warm weather....his family lives in fl! i hope to go in sept!!!!
i am not tired yet like evewryone says they get, wierd i thought but i;m use to not sleeping the last few months anyway, hard to type with one hand sorry, lol, 10lbs!!! thats great!!! can't wait to take her!!! adding her to insurance today got her ss# on friday!!!! yay
shes been up since like 1030, holding her now, we played on fllor but that was short lived lol..not much to do with them yet...read, shake a toy, she likes this mirror thing my mil got her so that kept her occupied for a while....
