I had my first ultrasound which changed my due date and put me back two weeks! Ugh! But we are both healthy and I am so thankful!

We heard the heartbeat this morning!! 160 and doing very well! I also found out that somehow I have only gained 2 lbs. Apparently, I lost a weight and have gained it all back just in my belly and chest! I had no idea! Thought at least 8 lbs! :) But we're doing great and next appt, Dec 4.

Its official! We are having a wonderful baby boy! He is doing very well and weighs 9oz!
Timeline (because I can never keep this straight):

January 7, 2008 ~ 20 weeks. I told my doc that I have not felt the baby move a lot and she told me to go home and concentrate. So I did and guess what? I felt him and it was wonderful! Now I know what to look for and feel so much better my little angel is growing so strong!
February 5, 2008 ~ 24 weeks and 17 pound weight gain! Feeling great, just some normal aches and pains... growing pains!
February 22, 2008 ~ My wonderful, fantastic aunt passed away today and I am devastated by it. Trying hard to stay strong. When I get too upset, I definitely feel it effects my little one. Trying to focus on our memories and what a wonderful person she is. I know my little baby has an angel looking after him!
March 4, 2008 ~ 28.2 weeks Wow! Time is flying. I wish I kept a better journal on here of how I was progressing and what I was feeling. Oh well. Next time:) Had my glucose test today. It wasn't so bad. I didn't really feel much different after drinking the drink so I believe I'm going to be fine with that test.
Have gained a total of 24 pounds! Feels like so much but I really don't have a say in it. I don't eat junk food and I never overeat, so I'm convinced this is just the weight I am supposed to put on. My little boy is doing great and I am truly blessed!
Just working on getting things set for our little boy's debut! Baby Shower March 29, 2008 - Can't wait! Invites went out and people are already buying things for my little one. Makes me feel so good that we will have everything he needs. So excited!
March 5, 2008 ~ I found out today I failed my glucose test, so I have to take the three hour. I'm a little down, but I'm hoping for the best. I feel like I can handle anything that is wrong with me, as long as my little angel is strong and healthy. And he is doing great so I feel blessed! Whatever I have to do to keep him safe:)
March 6, 2008 ~ I had the best day today! I went for a pregnancy massage and a manicure, and when I got home, my husband had baked me a cake! I love cake! He'd never made a cake before, and it was so sweet. He is going to be such a great father. I am so lucky! Tomorrow I go for my 3 hour Glucose Test and am so glad he is going with me.
March 8, 2008 ~ I was hugging my husband at the airport and our baby kicked him! Like he was saying goodbye to his daddy... it was a precious moment! He is getting so strong I can sometimes see my belly move! Loving it!
March 10, 2008 ~ Passed my 3 hour glucose test ... no GD!!! The very best birthday present.
March 11, 2008 ~ Today I had to go to the ER because of a marked decrease in fetal movement. We found the heartbeat, but it was difficult to get a constant reading. After a few hours, finally, we were able to get a satisfactory read. It was heaven to hear and feel my little angel moving and kicking the fetal monitor... music to my ears. We don't know what caused it, hopefully we'll know more tomorrow when I see the doc.
March 12, 2008 ~ Went to the doc today to as a follow-up from my ER visit. She recommended I stop working now because the stress is just too much and endangering Ethan.
March 17, 2008 ~ Based on my doc's recommendation, I now work from home. No more running around the tri-county area and running myself ragged. This was the best compromise and my bosses were very happy they still have me as I'll be out completely in just a short time. I already feel better and know this is the absolute right thing for my little guy!
March 29, 2008 ~ BABY SHOWER! Fantastic wonderful Baby Shower!
April 3, 2008 ~ We had an ultrasound today and my little (or not so little) guy is weighing in at 5 lbs! The average baby weighs nearly 4 lbs now, so we're either farther along then they think or he is a bog baby (like his daddy was:). I'll have to ask next visit. Total weight gain at 32.5 weeks = 28 lbs. Doc says I'm doing great with the weight so all is good!
April 14, 2008 ~ I went to the office today (I only go in about once a week and do most of my work from home now). They surprised me with a shower and had all chipped in and bought us our big boy Britex car seat! We also got Neiman Marcus outfit, rattle and blanket... so beautiful and soft! I was so blown away they did that for us. Just wonderful!
April 15, 2008 ~ Doctor's appt. Strong heartbeat and measuring well. Ethan weighs 6 lbs now. I've gained a total of 29 lbs. Doctor is starting to seriously consider a c-sect, he is just so big!
April 19, 2008 ~ Our best friends, Jeff and Toni's wedding. I was supposed to be a Bridesmaid but am just way too pregnant. Scott was a Groomsman. Jeff set Scott and I up on a blind date, and I set Jeff and Toni up and the rest is history! Sending them lots of baby dust! (And yes, I wore my green dress from my Baby Shower and just hope it holds out for one more wedding on May 3:)
April 28, 2008 ~ Well, its official. My engagement ring is going in to the safe until after I give birth. But I can still wear my wedding band because I never got it sized so it is a little bigger. So I guess I have fat fingers! :) But I know it is water retention, not weight gain, since I have not gained any weight recently so that's ok! Hopefully my band will hold out! I'm ready to meet you, Ethan!!!
April 30, 2008 ~ Went to the police station this morning to have our car seat inspected for installation. Daddy-to-be got an A+! He is going to be an amazing father!
May 1, 2008 ~ Went to the doctor's today. We are not dilated but she could feel his head. He has a little while to go. I might be ready, but he's not:) But I'm glad I have some more time to get things done. Also had the Group B Strep test, no big deal. We got some clarification that what I am feeling is in fact contractions so now I know to pay more attention. We go back next Thursday.

Well, don't be too impressed lol. I can only get into one pair of shorts, my pj's and one pair of capris. Nothing else fits. I was wearing a SPANX...but it was a little too tight on the c-section...don't get me wrong...I am VERY impressed and think that I am doing great with the weight loss...but geesh! I guess we all thought we would be able to fit into things better. My feet and hands are still fat:( I can't wait to wear my rings again and all my shoes!!
Are you able to walk with Ethan? We got at sunset when it's not as hot. It's just beautiful!
Oh...today is you first day alone? WOW. Take it easy and try to take care of yourself when you can. Let me know how the pedi appt goes:)
What is your routine? How was Scott's fathers day?
Johnny is doing great. He is over his cold and is doing well. He has slept well since we brought him home...except while he was sick. I feed him on demand during the night usually he will wake up anywhere between 3-4 1/2 hours~ He is a little more fussy around 5am though.
Father's day was great. So special to see John getting to celebrate his first Daddy's day with his son. We had a great weekend with family.
I am doing ok. C-section, bladdder etc are all healing great. My tailbone is not fun, but it's the only thing that is bothering me...so that is great:)

Luckily the only change I've seen so far is he is eating more at each sitting and less often, about 4ozs every 3-4 hrs. He is getting more crying fits at night, before beddtime... I read it's normal, that they are just winding down from the day. He has his crib in our room, and the bassinet/changing table is in the living room. He has been sleeping better in his swing as long as hes swaddled so he sleeps in that at night and that's in the living room as well. It does help me to not have him right in the room all night, I don't get woken up by every little noise he makes, so I sleep better while I can.
I'm glad you had a nice fathers day. Jalen is waking up so I'm going to go fix a bottle. Have a nice day.....

Thinking about daycare was much more traumatic than actually taking him there; I had it hanging over my head for 4 months! I cried the first day (Will they love him up enough? Will they let him sit in a swing all day? Will the other babies get him sick? )etc...but he did fine on the first day and ever since. It has been 3 weeks, now. I do miss him when I'm away, but our reality is that I need to work so I try not to dwell on that too much and think about the positives. Babies love the stimulation of other kids, it helps them develop a strong immune system, it creates a flexibility and resiliency in the child, and unless you have a trusted at-home provider, I think centers are safer just because there is a system of checks and balances there that you won't find in a person's home. I call every day to check on Ian and they tell me he is very smiley and happy most of the time (i.e. not traumatized by our separation). They don't put the babies on any schedule at Ian's daycare..I tell them what I want and they do it, which is nice (I used to think they all slept at mandatory times and had a baby feeding assembly line). He is clean and happy when we pick him up. We stop in at various times and everything always looks good. They put a crayon in his hand and helped him draw his first picture for Daddy for Father's Day (we both cried when we saw it). That's about all. The good thing about starting a young baby in daycare is I think they really bond with the baby...I do think they genuinely care about him. Don't worry, kids usually do great in daycare. Look for a place where there is as little staff turnover as possible so your baby can hopefully see the same people every day. Also, don't get hung up on accredidation...they are all licensed by the state (or should be if they are up and operating) but accredidation doesn't mean that much, in my opinion. Good luck!

Yeah things are pretty rough over here. Brayden is great and THANK GOD my mom is here we have Brayden in cloth diapers are using a spray bottle of water to wash him every time we change him sit next to him or hold him all day so we are sure to change him as soon as he goes, wake him up every hour to change his diaper, let him have tummy time with no diaper as many times a day as possible and guess what he still has a diaper rash! We have spent a ton and have tried A&D, desitin, butt paste, tripple paste, trimeda...etc. As of this am it is looking a little better but I keep hearing people say I used one product and overnight it was gone. I can't help but think something else must be wrong. I have horrible skin and had thrush as a baby and really bad diaper rash. Also, at the hospital they gave me the wrong dose of antiboditics - about 5x what I should have had so now we are thinking it might be yeast diaper rash which needs a prescription. sorry to go on and on it has just been really stressful.
I was getting sad before my mom got here but now I am a lot better. It is nice to have the company. We were getting up and going to the mall at 8 or 9 (before it opens) to walk him and that was great. It was so nice to get out of the house and then we were going through the drive thru to get breakfast. Now with the diaper rash we are on that full-time so we haven't been taking him out for his morning walk. I was getting REALLY sad before she got here but now am a little better. I think our hormones are way off and we are too hard on ourselves. They only way they have to communicate with us is by crying so we should be prepared that they will cry sometimes. I am starting to know Brayden's crys so that has actually been a little fun. He has a cute little pissed off wine.
Wow it sounds like you guys are going to have a GREAT day. That is just what you need. A walk on the boardwalk and pizza that sounds awesome. Have fun at the concert it will be fun for you and scott to get out. Mike and I should do something soon. I am just so tired if I get time I think we just want to sleep.
For father's day I thought I would get mike some photos done at BRU we took brayden this am which is a big ordeal because of his rash and I am so pissed because it wasn't fun for Brayden and they lost 1/2 of the photos and the ones they wanted us to choose from sucked and then they actued like we wasted their time. We did some with the entire family on a white background and they looked great and then when we went to select the photos they had lost them.
So I am basically so tired and worried from this diaper rash. I had hoped that I would have time to work out and work on his photos and baby book yeah right. I pretty much sit on the floor starring at his but and changing diapers - ain't it fun to be a mom?
Well you will have to let me know how the beach and the concernt goes. I hope you have a great fathers day. My mom and i might run over to target and get some photos printed since BRU didn't work out this morning.

Sounds just like mine. I also slept in his room for the first few nights and he woke up every 2 hours. The first night I left him alone he slept 4 hours right through as has ever since. Itīs like I was bugging him or something, LOL

i just think its gas...i'm goin to use the gas drops, she is such a good baby though i can't complain, i'm fine today i did nothing i slept when she slept because i don't know how tonight will be, my dr's office was closed at 12 and i called at 1 so i can hopefully stick it out till monday, i mean hope she can, i am trying all the advice from everyone and i think its slowly working, my friend thinks its the colic reflux , he son had it till just now and he's 3 months!
she's not crying non stop its just when she has to poop, i need ot burp her better too she NEVER burps!
a few times but hardly ever..
i also get sick belly aches after i eat so i knew of course she'd have my insides! ugh!! i'm trying to not eat bad! i hardly get to eat , i just wish there was a meal plan and then i would be great, i can follow things like that!

i wen tto lunch yesterday at my work with her, i know its super clean there and noone touched her so and its a tiny deli/specialty place so i was nervous as hell at first esp driving BUT we made it
tonight we are going to the relay 4 life cancer walk..the weather should be cool by 8 or after so i JUST got showered and noe her and brian are passed out on her bedroom floor! she sleeps better on her little leaf boppy mat...maybe she has acid reflux?? idk!!

We are doing ok. Michael has been home from the NICU for 4 weeks now, and we have a routine going. We have also figured out a lot of his crying is realted to Acid reflux. We are trying different medicines and formulas to fix the problem for him. How are you?

I'm doing pretty good. I've been sick since Saturday though with a pretty bad head cold. Now I can't stop coughing, and it makes my head hurt soooo bad. I've been taking Robitussin cough syrup, and I'm sucking on cough drops like candy, but I don't think it's helping! I'm really avoiding going to the doctor for it, cuz I don't want an antibiotic. I was told most are fine while breast feeding, but I'm allergic to 6 different medications, and I try as hard as I can not to take them when I don't need them!
Alyvia is doing wonderful :) She's growing so fast. She feels really heavy to me today for some reason. She's got her nights & days mixed up, too. And because I'm up most of the night with her, once she does fall asleep for about 4 hours, we end up sleeping in until 11 or noon. I actually just woke up around 1pm.. haha. I wish there was something I could do to get her schedule switched around!

I know how you feel! It is completely overwhelming when you can't fix the problem. Don't blame yourself though, or expect yourself to be the perfect mom. Just do what you can and try to not let the screaming bother you. I feel liike as long as I am holding him while he is crying he knows I am trying to help. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about your night. It is so frustrating wanting to do EVERYTHING for them and take care of every need and not knowing what they need. I think there is a lot with motherhood that NO ONE prepares us for and it's tough...but worth it. I am glad that Ethan is so supportive and together you guys will figure this whole thing out. It sounds like you are doing a great job, you just want to have all the answers and we just don't. Johnny is ok. He has had a cold, so he has bene upright in a bouncer almost all the time and is feeling better today!
I am doing ok with my recovery...I'm out walking! My tailbone hurts SO bad, but other than that everything else is healing very well. The pounds are shedding off, and I just can't wait to be back in shape!

Hey there mama!
How are you doing? Is baby treating you well? Isnt it so crazy how much time we used to have just sitting, waiting, wishing and now we areso busy!!! Between pumping, feeding sterilizing, changing and so on, i very rarely get on here anymore. the breastfeeding is so painful, as im sure you can relate. pumping is working well though...so far.
we circumsized baby on monday, i was sick about it, but he handled it well, barely a cry and a nurse took him away to do it, so that was a relief. how about you???
im still flying high, i imagine ill hit the wall soon. im living on 4 hours night and ive been fine so far. have a daily cry, for whatever reason. LOL
Cody has been amazing with baby, he picks him up takes him downstairs and cuddles with him on the couch.
i feel so lucky and in love, life is good.
how s your body recovering??? :)
