It's a Boy!

His name is Aethon Thomas Nelson.

Tuesday, 11 Dec
5w+4d...This is my first pregnancy :) I am happy, excited and a bit scared at the same time! I am looking foward to doing this week by week and can't wait til my little one gets here!

Thursday, 24 Jan
11w+6d...On the 21st I had my first ultrasound. Baby wasn `t moving around but had an arm up and looked like it was waving at us and just hanging out. We heard the heartbeat, 167 bpm. It was so exciting! I measure accurate to my date 8/8/08. Just 2 more visits and we find out the sex! Keeping fingers crossed for a boy, but would be happy with a healthy baby girl :)

Thursday, 21 Feb
15w+6d...So, we had an appt. on Monday, the 18th. Heartbeat was 157. I need to drink more water, Dr. said like a gallon a day! I am used to drinking no water (except in my ice cubes!), so this will be a challenge. No movement yet, thought maybe once, but unsure. We scheduled the u/s for St. Patty `s Day, 3/17. I can `t wait to find out what we `re having!

Tuesday, 4 Mar
17w+4d...I never thought I would say this, but, I miss working! I have been so bored lately... I left my full time job with SEPHORA end of October to try freelancing & photoshoots for printwork on my own but it isn `t steady work. I am going to freelance for Prescriptives starting in April. I worked for them before, its a good line. I `m gonna need the spending money for baby :)We have 2 more weeks until we find out what we are having. We have a boy name picked out..... Aithen Thomas Nelson (Athon, Aethon~ not sure how we are gonna spell it yet?). We have thought of Nikki or Naomi for girl names.... I have a feeling its a boy though :)

Monday, 10 Mar
18w+3d...On the 17th I have my ultrasound to find out what we are having. I hope the baby lets us..... I am still having cravings that change every week. I want pineapple, strawberries and gummi bears and everything bagels! mmmmm..... Having trouble sleeping. I find I still wake up on my stomach sometimes. I am having the hardest time sleeping on my side b/c my arm falls asleep! I don `t know what I am going to do...

Tuesday, 18 Mar

IT `S A BOY!!! 19w+4d...We are so excited! Everyone has been saying `It `s going to be a girl ` because the heart rate was 167 & 157. The old wivestales aren `t always true!

Wednesday, 26 Mar

20w+4d...I can `t believe I am half way! It has gone by so fast! I have gained 16 lbs. so far :( I freaked out this past weekend because my feet were swollen like balloons, I was on them all day! I am also starting to get a little uncomfortable when trying to sleep.....Aethon (we decided on this name for sure) has been moving around more these past 2 days, and that makes me happy.... I also have been getting the spare room organized for him, and I have bought so many things for him! Baby clothes are too cute!

Friday, 9 May

27 weeks today...I am feeling a lot of movement. I am enjoying the pregnancy so far, but excited its almost over (less than 3 months!)... Its starting to get hot here, mid 90's already and probably going to hit 100 in a week. Thats what sucks about living in Arizona, but I would rather live in dry heat than humidity!!! I have my 3-D ultrasound and glucose screening on the 15th. I hope all goes well, I am afraid i gained like 10 more lbs. I have already gained 24, and i was pretty overweight to begin with.... The baby shower is set for June 21st. The theme is "Duckies".

yeah, what is up with those rude people???? I was just astounded. My husband said he probably didn't realize I was pregnant because i had a big shirt on. I don't think it should matter anyway, rude is rude. Although it did seem extra insulting considering I am pregnant! Who does that?!?!?!?!

mellowyellow - Sunday, 4 May
Gorgeous name I love it. My choice of name for a boy was to be Ethan. Having a little girl and I am set on Quinn. Goodluck!

jennifaye - Thursday, 1 May
Hey thanks for the comment! That's a good idea to get them done in the morning.

Hi Jenn,
thanks for your post.
Yes, totally thought my mum would be different.
Especially since she had six kids and I am sure she faced ridicule alot having us.
But then, my husband always tells me that I shouldn't be so surprised and that her ignorance should actually be expected considering she still can't accept or remember that this pregnancy has been a long time coming - as we have gone through 3 years of horrendous ups and downs in TTC. She just thinks that I am going to pop out another one straight away. She doesn't understand even though I have told her that once this baby is born and we want another child, we have to re-prepare ourselves emotionally, physically and financially so that we can again face the ups/downs of fertility treatment that we will be required to undergo again. Anywayz......So I guess his right.... damn it, I hate when his right. LOL

As for your name, I quite like it. you, know, I'll share with you that this happened to my sister inlaw. Little different but similar in that everyone tried to enforce their ideas and opinions onto her and my brother and this is how she handled it.... Firstly, she wanted one syllabol names that couldn't be abreviated. Her first child was Jude. Very simple. Then the second child was born and my brother chose Edan. didn't quite go with what she was wanting, but she liked it. BUt once the name was said naturally everyone was like "oh it can be called 'Ed' or 'Dan'". This fustrated her but it was thrown back at everyone that "NO, its just Edan"
Since the birth people have tried to asy things like "how's Eddie" or "whats little Ed up too" and every time they (my brother and sister in law) continually persist and show a very public display in front of others of their disapproval when anyone calls their kids anything other than what the children were named at birth. And believe it or not, I actually recently reflected on this occurance and to be honest, it works!!!! They have made those that make the mistake, feel little and personally thats all thats needed to have others see the lack of respect and actually have supported my brother and sister in law in changing others ways. So just one to keep in thought. If you want a name. No matter what it is, how its spelt or pronounce, stick to your choice and don't let others dictate otherwise. Eventually repetition will become a habit and they will have change theres. P.s Aethon is a beautiful name - and "IF" abreviation was your thing.... I would have thought shortening, would have brang about the names like Ethan/Ethon, Tony, Tone or Athol.... Not Satan!
Best of luck, and thanks again for the support.

You can definitely register for nursery decor, I have it on my registry. You're lucky you were given a lot of the necessities, that certainly helps!

mcpheefner - Thursday, 10 April
I think it is appropriate to register for whatever you think you might want. If people don't want to buy it, they don't have to! There are always plenty of things to register for even if you have hand me downs. I think there is a list of things to register for on Babiesrus.com! Good lucks, and congrats on the little boy!

Carmione - Thursday, 10 April
to me...just like a bridal registry- it's a wish list. It's not a list of demands. If you want to put it on there- then by all means, do it! For more expensive/pricey items your friends may choose to pool together resources and get you those nicer gifts. Don't stress too much about it though! :)

tetera - Thursday, 10 April
I think it's completely ok to register for things like nursery decor in your registry; pretty much everyone I've ever bought for has done that and I've never thought anything of it!

jennifaye - Thursday, 10 April
I think it's totally appropriate to register for things that you need in your nursery, I know I did. But I also registerd for bigger items like a stroller, car seat and things like that too.

rosie08 - Thursday, 10 April
Yeah, you can definitely register for decor. Congrats on your boy! :)
