It's Twins!!

I found out in the ER. I had a minor car accident and decided to get checked out since I knew that I was pregnant. When they took me back for the ultrasound the lady asked did I already know that I had two babies in there?? I said WHAT? 2?? I am so excited. They are identical and do share the same sac but do have thier own amnions. I have a four year old little boy named Dylan and he is very excited. He says they are Girls.....I find out Jully 11th the sex of the babies and I am super excited!! I am just very scared about the risks. I will keep everyone updated on each doctors visit. Keep me in your prayers. GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU MOTHER'S OUT THERE!!!

05/28/2008 13 weeks

Well....I went to see my ob today and I got see my babies, I was so scared because I had lost so many of my symptoms but he assured me that it was because I was now going into the 2nd trimester. They both looked great and there hearts are so strong. I was very excited to leave the dr with good news. I was scheduled to see a specialist because he can not find the membrane anymore but he has seen it he just wants to make sure. So I Guess thats okay I will get to see them more often and maybe when I go in three weeks they can see boy parts and I can find out early....I will keep you all posted, Good luck again to all mother and the ones TTC

06/03/08 14 weeks

I had my appt today with the peri and all went well.....they found the mebrane but it is very thin, so they are def identical and they are right on track with growth. The best part is that they did not see any penis and he said that if he had to take a guess they are GIRLS!!! Yeah!! I am trying not to get to excited incase they see a penis in three weeks...lol I have a four year old son so girls would be great!! I am just glad they look good and so far are healthy!!! God bless all you guys out there........

17 weeks

at my appt today with the peri he said that we are having two girls we have there names picked out and baby a is hailey nichole and baby b is alleya marie. they both weigh about 7 oz and look great but there were two things that caught his eye one was that it looked like the membranne between the two was collapsing and that one had a fuller bladder than the other,,,,,,ttts i am so scared he did not say that I have it at this point he said that it could be the start of it. He wants me to come back on sunday while he is on call at the hospital and he is going to do a quick us and determine what we are going to do to save our babies lives, I am praying that it has stabalized and never turned into ttts please pray for me and my family......all i want is my two little girls here and safe!!!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

I can't see why a back rub would be a problem. I would LOVE one right now - LOL! Hope your feeling better soon!

I'm so glad to hear from you! We are leaving to go to the beach tomorrow so I will be out of pocket for a week. I'm glad to now you did well before I leave town. They told me I never really felt like I was out of the woods until 24-28 weeks. Just a heads up, I had some fluid that leaked out around the amniotic sack just from the surgery itself, which is normal. But, that fluid leaked out the next week and in the ER they were telling me that my water broke and were preparing me for the worse case scenerio until my specialist got there and did another U/S and he saw that their fluid levels were fine and that it was just that fluid leaking out...not that my water broke!!! So if anything happens always make sure that it is YOUR doctor that sees you!! If mine hadn't come by and done another U/S they would have done a D&C on me at 18 weeks and I would have been devestated!

I really wasn't too uncomfortable. I will say that the best thing I had was one of those foam mattress toppers you can buy, which was my lifesaver for the 3 1/2 months I laid in bed! I highly recommend that you have someone go out and by you one. It will be worth it's weight in gold!!!!

I will be thinking of you and check back as soon as I get home, or if I can get my husband's blackberry to cooperate I will check the site sometime during the week!

Sorry, no luck on finding the study I was looking for but I stll think it was preterm labour that was the critical issue. Hope you're doing well.

mommy2bmay08 - 25.6 hours ago
I think they said the week was mostly due to going into preterm labor/ruptureing your membranes because your uterus has been through a lot. I think it was more that than the babies themselves. Is your stuck baby "unstuck" with fluid now? I am assuming so if she has a bladder. I really can't think of why it would change all of a sudden for the babies if they have improved that much already. I am going to google the eurofetus study that was done on TTTS right now and I'll get back to you on that in a bit.

WOOHOO! You are doing great! I have been on modified (not strict) bed rest since and that may or may not have helped but so far so good. I also drink lots of water but don't know if that has helped either - LOL! I say REST, REST, REST and keep those girls Cooking! (this was supposed to show up under your blog)

OMG I am so glad you are home and your babies look well for first 24 hours! THAT IS GREAT NEWS!!!! You poor thing I am sorry you are in so much pain. I only recall pain for the first 8-12 hours and I think they gave me something to sleep. I just felt bruised around the incision site which was only about 5 mm long and it was just below my bellybutton. I only had one incision but they had to laser 12 vessels and were able to do it all from one spot. I had more vessels than they had done before but the location of my placenta and babies made it very easy for them. I am so glad they said it looks like you don't even have TTTS now -that is great, that is what happened for us too. Just so you know the worrying gets better with time but NEVER GOES AWAY! That being said though the worst is over. Give it a week post surgery and if all is well in utero you will feel a lot better. The first week for us was the worst. I think I told you before that we bought a doppler on ebay and it has given us so much piece of mind! How often will you be having u/s now? Are you on bed rest?

everything went well at the appointment today, i didnt get the amniocentesis done. based on the blood test and the genetic screening and counseling, i opted not to risk a miscarraige, because everything seemed to be well. they took about 100 pictures of the baby, even each individual finger! and counted the bones in them! girl i was there from 830 til 330! whew im tired!

Thank you and you are in mine.

Hey that is great. My Peris told me that was a huge bonus working in our girl's favor. They also said if they were the same size that was great too. Did they explain this to you? Basically it means they are each getting equal amounts of placenta which is very important. Because if one had 60% and the other 40% then they go into laser some of each and after donor baby ends up with 25% (these are just numbers thrown out there for examples sake) and then you end up with what we have IUGR. Which isn't a big deal if she had her 50% in the beginning but if she only had that 40 and now you cut some off she may not end up with enough to survive for very long. In our case our girls were equal so donor baby could "afford" some to be cut off as she still has enough to survive but how sever the IUGR is depends on how long they can survive the IUGR for. Hope that makes sense.

I am so sorry you have to endure this. But keep in mind Hopeful has 2 healthy babies in her ARMS and I have 2 healthy babies still in Utero very close to the 32 week goal and past the 28 week goal. The surgery is on your side!

mommy2bmay08 - Tuesday, 1 July
Sorry, forgot to add no we don't have TTTS anymore!!! What we do have is intrauterine growth restriction in our donor baby. Basically from the surgery when they lasered the vessels now there is an unequal placenta share and she is not getting as much as her sister. This is a possibility of the surgery however IT IS THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS!!! The surgery has saved her this long and she is still healthy. I may not make it all the way because she may run out of placenta before hand but I am 2 weeks from having perfectly healthy babies (32 weeks then) and even now if they have to come. I just have to monitored every other day to make sure her blood flows don't change. She can stay in longer even if she doens'nt grow as much as her sister and she will be fine.

Yes we were told about the same thing however you have to keep in mind the variables that go into that to give such a low result. For instance, your babies are HEALTHY, many go into the surgery at stage 3 or 4 and the outcomes aren't as good. Did your docs say your babies are still the same size?

mommy2bmay08 - Tuesday, 1 July
I just got your message and I want to tell you everything will be OK. Stage 2 is good becuase the babies are still healthy and strong. It is all very scary but I can't tell you enough how important it is to stay positive.

Let me know if you have any questions about the surgery. I was put on modified bed rest after and still am on it but it is not very strict. Do you have someone who can help you with your son? Mostly my bed rest was because I went into labor before the surgery (that is how we found our TTTS) and I continued to contract afterwards for quite a few days but very irregularly. I barely get them now.

So let me know how it goes. I am sorry it took so long for me to reply I was hospital/docs appts yesterday all day and will again tomorrow but will be on today as well as after I get home tomorrow. Just know I am thinking about you and your girls.

Take Care and best of luck tomorrow!
