04/22/2008 8 weeks

It's Twins!!

I found out in the ER. I had a minor car accident and decided to get checked out since I knew that I was pregnant. When they took me back for the ultrasound the lady asked did I already know that I had two babies in there?? I said WHAT? 2?? I am so excited. They are identical and do share the same sac but do have thier own amnions. I have a four year old little boy named Dylan and he is very excited. He says they are Girls.....I find out Jully 11th the sex of the babies and I am super excited!! I am just very scared about the risks. I will keep everyone updated on each doctors visit. Keep me in your prayers. GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU MOTHER'S OUT THERE!!!

05/28/2008 13 weeks

Well....I went to see my ob today and I got see my babies, I was so scared because I had lost so many of my symptoms but he assured me that it was because I was now going into the 2nd trimester. They both looked great and there hearts are so strong. I was very excited to leave the dr with good news. I was scheduled to see a specialist because he can not find the membrane anymore but he has seen it he just wants to make sure. So I Guess thats okay I will get to see them more often and maybe when I go in three weeks they can see boy parts and I can find out early....I will keep you all posted, Good luck again to all mother and the ones TTC

06/03/08 14 weeks

I had my appt today with the peri and all went well.....they found the mebrane but it is very thin, so they are def identical and they are right on track with growth. The best part is that they did not see any penis and he said that if he had to take a guess they are GIRLS!!! Yeah!! I am trying not to get to excited incase they see a penis in three weeks...lol I have a four year old son so girls would be great!! I am just glad they look good and so far are healthy!!! God bless all you guys out there........

17 weeks

at my appt today with the peri he said that we are having two girls we have there names picked out and baby a is hailey nichole and baby b is alleya marie. they both weigh about 7 oz and look great but there were two things that caught his eye one was that it looked like the membranne between the two was collapsing and that one had a fuller bladder than the other,,,,,,ttts i am so scared he did not say that I have it at this point he said that it could be the start of it. He wants me to come back on sunday while he is on call at the hospital and he is going to do a quick us and determine what we are going to do to save our babies lives, I am praying that it has stabalized and never turned into ttts please pray for me and my family......all i want is my two little girls here and safe!!!

22 Weeks

Well....So far we are doing great! My peri thinks that my surgery was a sucsess. My babies are a pound a piece and seem to be doing wonderful. I feel movment all day long I can even lay on the couch and watch them move. I have started my shopping this week because the dr seems to think that I will not make it to 36 weeks but he say we will make it....So I am guessing around 32 to 34 weeks. With TTTS you dont go to full term with twins. well some do, I am praying that I am part of that some. I have learned through this preganncy that miracles can happen and do happen you just have to have faith in the good lord above. My girls are truly miracles. I was diagnosed with TTTS at 16 weeks and Had surgery at 18 weeks and I am now going on 23 Weeks.

Check out my blogs for more pregancy updates!!

They're doing really well. Growing and moving a lot lately. Last appt they were 1 lb 5 oz and 1 lb 6 oz. Both are still head down! They like to use my tummy as a punching bag now - and I love it! I'm starting to have a few more of the "icky" pregnancy symptoms - the bad heartburn, leg cramps (one almost made me cry last night) and shortness of breath (even if I'm not doing anything)
But nothing I can't deal with. It'll all be worth it in the end.

Woohoo - I love planning the nursery thats'my favorite part! Have u picked the bedding? We bought this set from Wal Mart I love it http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8587260
We did the 3D (you can check them out on my page). We were told between 21 and 24 weks was best for twinsand we went around 23.5 but I think I would have waited until 26 or so. I don't know why but I think when I see singletons that usually have it done later they look a little better but you can't wait too long or they say it is crowded. I would definitely recomment it though as we wouldn't have done it for 1 baby but thought what a neet thing to show them when they are older - how they looked in utero together.

I know hehe! I WANT THEM THE HELL OUT! HAHA! It is becoming really uncomfy. When is your next ultrasound? I have a growth scan tomorrow so I'll let you know their estimated weights. Unless they come tonight ...LOL - As if.

Hey, no shower this time around but I had 4 with my son!! They were all after he was born and we also didn't know his sex. That is very common here to have it after and everyone meets the baby etc. I think if I were having one this time I would have wanted it no later than 30 weeks I guess because there are often more complications/early arrivals with twins.

Non-Stress Test, they just have 3 straps around your belly, one to read Baby A's heartbeat, one for Baby B's, and one to see/read if you are having contractions. Basically they are just looking for normal accelerations/decelerations of their heartbeats and making sure they are within normal range. They can also tell if you get contractions that you feel or not and how the babies react to each one.

Awwwww thats not good! And yes 24 weeks is vaibility. I went into labor at 23.5 and they wouldn't even give me the steroid shots until the day I hit 24 weeks here! Your going to make it no problem Mama so don't worry. It went by faster for me when I had the weekly appointments because I used that as my focus for the week. And then even faster when I got to 28 and they started sending me for the NSTs a couple of times a week.

mommy2bmay08 - Thursday, 31 July
Way to go that is great news! I hope you are worrying less and time is going by quicker for you!!!

mommy2bmay08 - Thursday, 31 July
Nothing yet!! Started contracting worse again yesterday but they still never progressed into anything : (!! I swear unless my water breaks I am never going to know when it is really going to happen until it is almost near the end - LOL! It just sucks because we live 2 hours away and I need to know when to tell my husband he really needs to drop everything and get over here! Oh well, it will be soon and only 2 1/2 weeks to go at the most. HOw are your girls doing?

Thanks.......this is my first and a bit of a surprise, although a very welcome one!

I'm a year out of medical school and currently working in an acute medical unit. For the first few years you get placed in lots of different departments (at least you do in England) and its a year before I have to decide which way I'm heading. I'm thinking hospital medicine (as opposed to surgery or general practice) but not sure which specialty yet. You a medic too?

Wow, twins, that's awesome!! Nice to hear from you,

Hannah x

Hey,
Well I think I started at around 18 weeks as we found out at 16. Of course at the time I wasn't thinking anything was going to happen. I made a list of all the stuff we were going to need as we already had 1 of everything. Anything that was used only for a short while ie, swing etc I phoned and asked friends if I could borrow theirs. We bought everything new with my son and I lent my friends out a lot of stuff so most were happy to return the favor if they had what I needed and weren't using it. permanent things like bedding and crib we bought right away. I am really into decorating and kids rooms are my fav so I got on that as soon as I knew it was girls. Unfortunately the room has been 'almost finished' for a very long time so hopefully Sheldon can complete it this week. Some final touches I was going to do will have to wait until they are born. I found a girl on Craig's list who had twin girls a year ago and ended up buying quite a bit off of her and she has given me a ton of clothes for free! I have bought lots myself too when I see things on sale etc that is the nice part about knowing what you are having! Her and I have very similar taste and she takes really good care of her stuff so it has worked out great. We have actually become friends so I will be getting advice from her too. I figured most stuff can be resold on Craig's list to after. Basically I wanted everything done by 30-32 weeks as I knew I would be very uncomfortable by then and possibly put on bed rest : ) I may have gone a little crazy a little early, I don't know but hey, look where I am now (no shopping for me anymore - LOL) and I can honestly say these girls can come home right now and I would be prepared. I also started buying Newborn diapers and size 1 as I know they will go through a lot in the beginning so I thought it would save us from having to go shopping as well as financially hitting us all at once.

mommy2bmay08 - Sunday, 27 July
They have been feeding me. They sure wouldn't want someone this pregnant to go hungry or things would get pretty ugly pretty quickly LOL! Unfortunately though there is no vending machines on this ward and they won't let me leave my room! Buggers. mmm Chinese yum yum. Sheldon is bringing Brody by tomorrow though so I am going to make him bring me some good snacks. Just what I need to get fatter, is it even possible?

mommy2bmay08 - Sunday, 27 July
Nothing yet still waiting and being bored! I keep losing heaps of mucus but the doctor said I would continue that as I am so dialated. ARGH! I just wish I knew when! It is driving me nuts - LOL! Oh and I want chocolate - OK now I am just feeling sorry for myself - HAHA!

mommy2bmay08 - Saturday, 26 July
Hey, Glad I keep you positive! I don't know how but that is good - LOL!
I know it is so crazy because I feel like the innocence of pregnancy has been taken away and I will never look at it the same. My h/b talks once in a while about having a 4th AND LAST kid as he wants another boy. And at this point I am reluctant to even think about it. I could never have a normal singleton pregnancy and sleep at night with just a 20 week u/s and thats it, anymore. I will go nuts. At least it will be quite a while before that is even considered so maybe I will have mellowed out about it all by then.
My docs told me they thought it was a success 12 hours after the surgery and then for at least the 3 weeks after that. Because their fluid levels looked great for a month after the surgery. They still feel it is a success, especially because I have 2 healthy babies still cooking, even with the ups and downs, low fluid and growth, those are all the lesser of the evils that can be managed and monitored.
Is your son 4 (I can't remember)? It would likely be a little tougher for him than mine as mine is almost 3 and if somehting were to happen he probably wouldn't entirely understand, but who knows. I think kids understand more than we think but I also think they deal a lot better than we do.
I am in a great hospital (the best in Canada for high risk preg) so I feel that I am in the best hands. They are very well trained here (My babies will be born under the control of my perinatologists) and they are quite happy to let me go vaginally as long as the girls don't get stressed. So far with everything they have done very well no signs of stress at all. I was quite happy with that because it at least looks like I will get to birth them the way I want, at least we will try anyways. there will be 2 neonatologists present, a cardiac specialist, 2 nurses for them, and then a whole team of docs and nurses for me. They have alrady warned me so I don't get overwhelmed with all of the people present when I am about to deliver. It actually just makes me feel safer.
I am off to bed, have a good night try to relax - that is great news from the doc!: biggrin

mommy2bmay08 - Saturday, 26 July
Hey great news on your girls!!! Crazy fluid eh? I just had a scan today too and my one has 10 cm and A whose is always too low had a 2.4 cm pocket and a 3.5 cm pocket! Go figure they scare the crap out of you and then they are perfectly fine! I was 24 weeks when I had the surgery, so I am now exactly 10 weeks from the day I went into labor that led to our TTTS diagnosis. I swear I would have switched places (cervix I mean) yesterday as they kicked me out of my room in delivery because another lady came in fully dialated with twin boys. I was like I wish I was her. Now I know better, carfeul what you wish for, hers were 26 weeks . I wish I could have given her my 4cm and taken here fully dialated one for her. Her boys would have a much better chance had they even had a couple more weeks.
I am 33 W 2 D right now. I am just waiting for the NICU doc to come chat and let me know what will happen if the girls come in the next week or 2. Lucky for us they will likely not need NICU at all but be in the special care nursery as growers and feeders. I don't know about their lungs right now but I think they should be pretty good. Especially if I make it to 34 weeks. I doubt they will do an amnio to check as they would rather leave my uterus alone, especially now when it is such a fine line and there is such a small chance of them needing anything major.
My son is very excited and wants his mommuy home. He is doing real well though and when I got the hospital the other night he kept saying Charley and Abbey want to come out! It was too funny. I am very happy the end is near. Even though I complain right now I know it is best they are in there but its ok if they come out too.
Are you still on bed rest? Keep those girlies cookin'...

mommy2bmay08 - Saturday, 26 July
Hey, how did your scan go? I am in hospital now until the end whenever that is. I went into labor on Tuesday night, got to 4 cm dialated, got my epidural etc and then everything pretty much stopped : ( I am now still contracting every 5 or 6 minutes but they are not painful and not progressive anymore. They won't help speed up the labor until I hit 35 weeks or start making some progress on my own. So who knows. I just got my laptop today so will be on here so let me know how you and the girls are doing. I AM SO DONE - LOL!
