This is my first lil' bub and hubby and I are excited after our miscarriage last year, but cautiously optimisitic. Hubby is Canadian, I'm from Texas, and after almost 5 years of marriage, we're finally having a baby!
Of course, we found out we were expecting 2 weeks after we told relatives at Christmas that we were planning on waiting another year or two. Oops!

Found out that the baby has a high risk of having Down's Syndrome. I'm much calmer today than I was yesterday. Hubby used to work with Down's kids and adults, and his cousin runs a program for special needs kids. So, if the baby does have Downs, it'll be okay. We'll be prepared. But there's still a good chance that everything will be just fine and normal, and healthy. That's what we're hoping for. Either way, the Lord never gives us anything that we can't handle. I just wish that the Lord would make something easier. But... really, I have a very blessed life. I have a wonderful husband, great friends, and a fantastic family. I have a roof over my head and plenty of food for my belly.
Life has been so challenging for the past few years, it really does seem like I have to fight for everything I want. Yet, everything I have, I am so grateful for, I can't say that I'd be who I am today, without those struggles. Whatever doesn't kill me, makes me stronger, and I have to say, it really has.
On the positive side, as a diabetic, I was fully expecting to fail my 3 hour glucose test, which I had to have after failing the 1-hour test. Funny... It came back completely normal. Huh? I don't know, but I'll take it. Thank God, see he did make something easier!

Things are getting a little easier. I had the Ultrasound and things so far look great. I got to see her little heart upclose! It was pretty neat. She also was nice to the technician this time and threw the University of Texas Hook 'em horns hand sign (we were at the UT women's health clinic). They of course took a picture of that!
Things so far are progressing nicely, but they did say that Olive was measuring a little small. hmmm. Grow Olive... Grow.
So we've decided to name her Olive Papillon. Mom and the rest of the family initially hated the name, but they've mentioned now that it has started to grow on them and now they rather like it. Good... because I'm not changing it. Of course, they are all hoping that she has red hair so that they can call her pimento. My family are a bunch of nuts!
Other than that, I managed to find a Medela breast pump at a church sale for $40. Sure, it's used, but I tossed anything that I couldn't throughly sterilize (or wouldn't fit me anyway... this lady must have been an A cup! Not going to fit my Ds!) and bought replacements. That pump sells for $300! I did good! Wee!
