January 3rd 2008 Thursday: Our AFP test came back positive for DS. We went for our level 2 ultrasound today and the baby is normal. The Doc used words like : perfect, solid and normal. He also said that the ultrasound looked so good he cant find a reason to recommend an amino. He told us that we didnt have to come back unless my OB/GYN wanted a follow up. Not sure how Im feeling about this AFP test. We wasted a whole month worrying about the health of our perfectly healthy baby.

NOVEMBER 26TH 2007 MONDAY: Went to my 2nd Dr. appt today. My husband was still at work so I took his Grandmom Tic. This was the first time I was gonna hear the heart beat. We saw it at our 8 wk ultrasound but did not hear it. Since Jim was still at work , I brought the camera which has video on it. The Doc put the doppler thingy on my belly and ... Nothing.. hmm.. she moved it around . Nothing! hmm So I put the camera down thinking.. well I dont want to record this (if it was bad news) She assured me that there was something there. Then she stuck it in my belly button and WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH... Thank you God! I thought it was up awful high due to the fact that im only 14 wks. but it was there and I was very happy. Tic (grandmom) says " Sounds like there is 3 in there". So the Doc ask me " You did have an ultrasound and there was only one baby.. right??"" lol yes there was only on in the ultrasound.. Love my Doc but she sure did give me a few scares..lol Plus it was really scary stepping on the scale.. WOW 10 lbs.. Good thing is We are all ok. We are getting our next ultrsound Dec. 21st to find out the sex. Gonna be a good christmas.

I wish!! That would be sooo nice. We just bought a new bed last year and it's a really nice king size mattress so I doubt my husband would be up to buying a new one so soon ha-ha. I could always try.

Thats awesome that your dr gave you the ok! How exciting. Now you just get to play the waiting game. Have you tried having sex? That put me into labor with my first. We have been cut off since I was 25 weeks so that is my plan the minute I turn 37 weeks...if I even make it that long. Keep us posted!!!!!

Well, it sounds like you and baby are ready! That is great. I hope that if she comes early, she will be perfectly healthy. I guess we are getting pretty close now so the risk is pretty slim. I have to say my biggest worry is cost (I think at this point are baby's chances of being healthy are really high) - we simply can't afford having a baby that has to go into ICU if we can help it. So I guess I'll take it easy for a couple more weeks. Then LET THE JUMPING JACKS BEGIN!!!

I had the same thing happen to me too. I have been having a lot of contractions and the day I went for a normal ob appointmnet my Dr sent me straight to labor and delivery. I am 50% effaced and 1.5cm dilated. My Dr put me on bed rest until Wed when I have to go back in. Since then I have lost my mucus plug and have tons of pressure and contractions. I HATE BED REST and I am not very "good" at it. SOunds like our babies don't want to wait until May!

OK, we are in the same situation, but I was put on bed rest. Last Thursday, I lost the plug, had bloody show, 50% effaced and dilated to 2. I am just measuring the normal size, though. I am supposed to be on bedrest now until April 20th. It always is so confusing why doctors handle things so differently. Let me know how you are doing. Could you tell me what your doctor said, too. I really would rather not be in bed for 2.5 more weeks. Thanks and I hope all is well.
