Hi my name is Jo and I live in Vancouver with my husband Chris. 3 months after a miscarriage in September of 2007, I found out I was pregnant - 3 weeks 2 days. I was exhausted, famished and a little nauseous. At 6.5 weeks a change in my symptoms led me to have an ultrasound where we found out I was pregnant with TWINS! However the happiness was shortlived, as one of the them had a slow heart beat at 6.5 weeks then even slower at 7.5. At an ultrasound at 13 weeks we were told that there was one healthy fetus and an empty sac; that the 2nd one did not make it and was being 'absorbed' - Vanshing twin sydrome is what they call it. I was pretty sad, and happy at the same time. I still had a baby, but there was still a loss there.

I was pretty plagued with nausea and it took until about 18 weeks to get over the 'gross nausea' part, but even at 25 weeks I have moments when I think I'm going to puke.

At our 24 week ultrasound we found out we are having a girl! We have named her Cadence. It took up to about 21-22 weeks before I could feel her kicks and movement.

Cadence was born after 42 weeks less a day on a sunny September day. Even though I was late and just dying to have her and meet her, I did on the most part really enjoy being pregnant, and felt a little bit of a loss a couple of weeks after she was born.

Cadence is almost 7 weeks as I write this - she is a cute baby who is a very good sleeper... so much that she doesn't stay awake long and shows her 'tiredness' by being a complete little cranky pants. It took me about 5 weeks to figure out that was why she was crying a lot! From day one I've trained her to go to sleep on her own so we are very fortunate that when we put her down she only squawks for a few minutes then goes to sleep.

I try hard to enjoy this time, however am looking forward to the days of a more awake and happy baby.

I'm really happy to have found this site - I think I'm addicted. I check it 2-3 times a day. I work from home most of the time so it makes it more tempting to get on here. Thank you too for all your posts, I love hearing what everyone else is up to and knowing other people are feeling what I am.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

We took her to the hospital today for an appointment to get weight and jaundice checked. She was 7 lbs 2 oz at birth, then 6 lbs 8 oz when we left. Today she is 6 lbs 14oz, so nearly back to birth weight. When we left, I stopped at the nursery. I asked if they would test her hearing again. I didn't think that they would, bc she isn't a patient there anymore. The nurse was nice, and even though she didn't have the chart anymore, she did the test anyway, just for our peace of mind. Abby passed the test right away with both ears. YAY!!! We still have to see the audiologist, but at least we are much less worried.
the tylenol 3 just kidked in. fallin asleep here, messing lup all my works. not slepping mluch so I better get to bed before baby waked up. ttyl

Big as a house...a small one, right? haha. I told Mary, I was 3 weeks late for my mom...thank God they don't let you go THAT long now! Silver lining. :)

Yes, gladly, add me on FB. All the merrier! Would love to keep up.

LOL. Thanks for the congrats.
Sorry that I didn't write sooner, Baby Abigail Claire changed all of my plans, LOL. H is off now until Sept 29th. Should be fun. Today we go to the hospital to do a recheck on jaundice and weight. I might ask, just bc I am curious and don't want to wait a month, if they can do a hearing test again. Hopefully!
Abby sleeps TOO MUCH. It kinda freaks me out. I get surprised if she is awake for more than ten minutes at a time. She has to be woken up to feed. Sometimes waking her up doesn't work. I will mention it today. I am in MEGA pain, and still bleeding bright red, and much more than before. I feel like I might have an infection. maybe they will check me today too. Well, I need to go. I don't think I can be on too much. Now that we're home I want to get some of Abby's room done. I couldn't do anything to get prepared before.
How have you been? I really haven't kept up on the board, did you have your baby?
keep me posted. I must run to the appointment now. ttyl

Jo- how are you holding up? Thinking about you.

roseyleee - Saturday, 6 September
Wasting away into a crumbling mess. Who ever mentioned that its like groundhog day got it spot on. It feels like precisely that. Everyday i wake up to hip ache, back ache and loose BM but nothing else.... Then in the evening i go for a walk, have a bath, have sex and go to bed. UGGGH. Yet still nothing. Really hoping this is your day today. xxx Maybe mine will come tomorrow. xx

Dani and Xander - Saturday, 6 September
Hey Jo!!!!!! Thinking about you!! I'm trying to get on but Bills home so its hard. Did you schedule an induction date?

adriennella - Saturday, 6 September
I'm trying to get motivated to clean today, too. I'm so drowsy. Rose and I partied too much last night and I'm paying for it for sure.

Best wishes this weekend!

I WILL come back! I go up to Seattle to see my favorite aunty often. I take day trips up to BC and last summer I drove from here to there by myself...what a wonderful trip it was.

Yeah the work thing makes me so sad. I'm taking two weeks without pay, but that's all that's feasible. I have to pay a lot for insurance, so I can't really afford a lot of time off.

Are you all ready for the baby? Is everything set up and organized? Have you packed and repacked your bag?

GOOD LUCK GOING INTO LABOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

adriennella - Friday, 5 September
The restaurant I love is called The Alibi Room. It's pretty minimally decorated, but I just love the food. Every time I go to Vancouver, I go there. I agree that that part of town is pretty seedy. Last summer I got stuck there because I was staying on Davie (?) street and it was the big fireworks festival night. I had made the mistake of leaving my hotel and couldn't get back for hours and hours. I saw lots of drugs and stuff that night in Gastown. Since I was alone, it wasn't my favorite experience. Still, I love Vancouver.

I do really hope to have her sleeping but as she'll be with a nanny and I have to go to work at 7 when she's 8 weeks old, it might be harder for me to have a strict schedule.

Rose now weighs 7 pounds and one ounce. She was 6 and 13 at birth but dropped to 6 and 2 in the hospital (really normal). The breastfeeding works, but it hurts more than I expected. It's a real committment!

adriennella - Friday, 5 September
I love this restaurant in the old part of Vancouver, Gastown I think it is. It used to be owned by the X-Files people. The food is incredible.

So you only have three more days at most. You must be so excited. How are you feeling about the induction? I had pitocin after I delivered and I didn't care. I wanted to go naturally, but when it came time for delivery, I put myself in the hands of the doctors. All the worries that I'd had before the baby just went out the window.

Are you bottle feeding? I've heard that it's much easier to establish a 4 hour feeding schedule if you formula feed. What sleep book are you reading? I NEED it! Yesterday the pediatrician recommened a book to me but said that sleep training doesn't really work until 3 months. If that's so, I'll be a total zombie at work!

adriennella - Friday, 5 September
I thought that Mary was also awaiting her little one. Has she popped?

I'm sure your baby is thriving in there. She's warm and snuggly. I'm amazed at your patience and positive attitude. You're my pregnancy hero!

I'm enjoying motherhood so much. Rose is amazing. I have had a few healing and breastfeeding issues, but the doctor fixed me right up. Although all of this seems so natural, I feel like I'm constantly learning so much that I never knew. I read the pregnancy books like a maniac, but I didn't touch my baby books...LOL. Now I'm too delerious for anything to sink in!

Are you doing anything with your weekend? I wish I could come over for a visit. Vancouver is an amazing city. I'd take you out to lunch at a place I love in the old part of town.

dossfirstchild - Friday, 5 September
It is frustrating...and I'm sure I would be more frustrated if I were in your situation (no tests)...I'm sure if you call L&D and ask to have and NST that they will do it...all they do is hook you up and make sure the heartbeat is still normal...and make sure your not having contractions...

I love it...not working that is....I've been a lazy blob and it feels great...i was getting sick of getting up so darn early every single day...man...i feel so good right now...i'm even going to take a walk at like 130ish...just for shits...i know it doesnt work...lol...

I plan on taking 2 months off of work to spend time with my baby girl...usually its 42 days...but i figured that since i have alot of vacation time that i would take and extra 16 days...woohoo...better than nothing...

I'm so ready to change dirty diapers, and wake up every couple of hrs to nurse...LOL

How has your day been so far?
