Hi my name is Jo and I live in Vancouver with my husband Chris. 3 months after a miscarriage in September of 2007, I found out I was pregnant - 3 weeks 2 days. I was exhausted, famished and a little nauseous. At 6.5 weeks a change in my symptoms led me to have an ultrasound where we found out I was pregnant with TWINS! I was so excited as I had always wanted one pregnancy of twins - I would kid around all the time that I would have my boy and girl in one shot. However the happiness was shortlived, as one of the them had a slow heart beat at 6.5 weeks then even slower at 7.5. At an ultrasound at 13 weeks we were told that there was one healthy fetus and an empty sac; that the 2nd one did not make it and was being 'absorbed' - Vanshing twin sydrome is what they call it. I was pretty sad, and happy at the same time. I still had a baby, but there was still a loss there.

I was pretty plagued with nausea and it took until about 18 weeks to get over the 'gross nausea' part, but even at 25 weeks I have moments when I think I'm going to puke.

At our 24 week ultrasound we found out we are having a girl! We have named her Cadence. It took up to about 21-22 weeks before I could feel her kicks and movement, but now that I can she sure doesn't sleep much!

Through the nausea, worry etc... I still am thankful everyday that I get to have a baby!!!! It's all worth it to me and I can't wait to do it again! Everyday I am so thankful that she is in there growing and I just cannot wait to meet her! Pregnancy has it's pains and discomforts but to me it's all worth it! I love being pregnant and I love my little girl!!!

I'm really happy to have found this site - I think I'm addicted. I check it 2-3 times a day. I work from home most of the time so it makes it more tempting to get on here. Thank you too for all your posts, I love hearing what everyone else is up to and knowing other people are feeling what I am.

Heard the heartbeat today, yippee! Now I feel better about going for my ultrasound on the 21st. We have to pay $500 for the testing and I don `t want to pay to just get bad news! Was happy to find out I `m not hypothyroid, just a teeny hyper. Go for more bloodwork next week to check thyroid again as well as part of the Early Trimester Screening. I am sooo looking forward to 2 weeks from now after all the tests and the 1st trimester!

Had Ultrasound today. Baby is 13 weeks 1 day! Risks for chromosonal problems are very low! Only one baby, the twin did not make it. We are still very happy to be having one healthy baby and do be 13 weeks!!! sigh!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

May 6, 2008

It's a girl!!! yippee! Cadence Sylvia!

July 15, 2008

Had another ultrasound last week at 33 weeks - they estimate she is 5lbs 7oz already! big girl! I wonder what she will be by birth!???/ things are still going well. I'm starting to feel the 'weight' of it all in my knees and look pretty funny when I bend to pick something up and can't get up. Almost had to ask someone at the drug store to help me yesterday LOL! All in all I think I'm pretty lucky, no major aches and pains other than a lot of water retention. Definitely looking forward to meeting her!

September 2nd.

Good Lord I'm overdue!!!! Not sure why little miss muffet isn't coming out, but man I envy all the women who were a few days early or right on time! I have enjoyed my pregnancy, now I want to meet my little girl and hold her rather than feel her squishing around with no room to move. Doc has set an induction date of September 8th... her daddy's birthday, if she doesn't come earlier. Please Lord... help her come before that... before her mamma goes bananas!

I would be proud to be below my pre-pregnancy weight, but I was way too overweight before pregnancy! I seriously need to lose more than 20 more pounds. I LOVE cooking, and I really love eating!

cluster bug is an adorable nickname for Cadence!!

I hope you had your sea wall walk today. Russell, Rose and I went to the beach for the first time.

I hope you have lots of sleep.

eastern-Canadian-Lady - Monday, 6 October
I know that feeling. Abby's room and the livingroom are both filled with clothes, most of them hand me downs, but I really need to put them away! A sleeping baby doesn't seem to sleep away from Mommy, so how are we supposed to get anything done?!?! Abby is sweet, so I forgive her, LOL.

Bella has done some more modeling. She is the new face of cutie patootie tutus! Please check it out and tell me what you think... I'm so proud of her. www.cutiepatootietutus.etsy.com

LOL at farty pants!

Rose does clusterfeed sometimes, and at times she yells at my boob! Tonight's one of those nights actually. Perhaps the weather's getting to our little girls.

I'm lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight, but everything's flabby and sticking around in my middle (on and on the boobs!).

I'm watching a sappy romantic movie tonight with Russell. It's really nice.

Rose had a few fussy days this week, too. It seemed to be gas related. I hate to give her that mylicon stuff. It smells so chemically.

Did you and Cadence go for your walk?

I absolutely loathe my body right now. I've honestly never felt uglier. I don't know if it's hormones, the baby blues, or if I really am as ugly as I think I am. My stomach is hideous and my boobs are out of control! I got a 36EE bra and it's too small!!!!!!! I refuse to get one bigger, so I just stuff them in. LOL. I'm 6 weeks post baby and still wearing maternity clothes, too.

In order to make myself feel somewhat better, I got some really pretty tops, some jeans in a size up, and I got a great haircut. It helped a teeny tiny bit, but I still can't look at myself in the mirror and I try not to weigh myself too much.

I'll bet you're beautiful. You were a gorgeous pregnant woman, intimidatingly so.

Hey Jo,How is Cadence? How are you? How are you enjoying motherhood? I am so glad you are home. I am exhausted today. The girls were up all night last night - UGH! Luckily they only do that about every 2 weeks but they are still up every 2 hours. They "just"(I mean tonight) slept 3.5 hours! Woohoo. They have been having this crazy nap for 6 hours during the day which I sometimes have to wake them to feed them so I have been desperately trying to keep them awake more and hopefully will move that long sleep to the night. They were cluster feeding last night and my nips are killing me - LOL! I guess I can't complain too much as they have been really good babies so far and letting me take them all over while I cart my son around to all his activities lately. I think I need a few days at home to slow down and work on their schedule. They hate to be put in their bed during the day, they wake up instanty and won't settle until they are in my arms. I am a huge believer in getting them to fall asleep on their own in their cribs so I need to get rid of this nasty habit before it is too late! They had their 6 week checkup today (can't believe they are 7 weeks already) and they are gaining really well, A is 8 lb 12 oz and C is 9 lb 2 oz. Other than that, my mom just left she was here for 2 days so I got out on Wednesday and went and got my hair done which was so overdue I left enough hair on the floor at the salon to make a few wigs - LOL! Now if I could just shed this 26 lbs off my body I will feel like a sleep deprived new woman. It is so nice to have wine again though - LOL! Anyway, hope all is well with you, Cadence and Hubby.

 Awww she's beautiful!!

adriennella - Saturday, 4 October
Because of you I'm watching the schedule. I was surprised to see that she was eating every three hours today. I guess I've not been paying attention.

We went out to a restaurant tonight and Rose was wonderful. Tomorrow we're going to a birthday party and to visit my nanny. On Sunday, we're taking our first trip to the beach. I'm so excited about this weekend.

What are you doing this weekend?

catka - Saturday, 4 October
 OMG...this is a super cute pic!!! :))

eastern-Canadian-Lady - Saturday, 4 October
I'm glad that you are getting caught up. For me, it seems like the old saying "the hurrier I go, the behinder I get" LOL. but things are pretty good.
it was nice to hear from you. take care and ttyl

adriennella - Friday, 3 October
I had wine tonight. I pumped so I could have two glasses! It's fantastic and I would highly recommend it, LOL!

I had two showers in the summer, but we have been getting gifts lately from friends and family. I'm having such a hard time keeping up with the thank you notes that I'm glad that we got most of the gifts this summer.

You are doing a great job with the schedule. I'm really impressed. I can't even remember what time it is most of the time!

Rose also doesn't like napping in the day. Maybe we just have smart babies that know that nighttime is for sleeping!

Do you have any new pictures of Cadence?

adriennella - Friday, 3 October
aww...cooing!!!! Rose grunts, LOL!

Rose doesn't sleep much at all during the day. She sleeps from midnight to 6, eats, sleeps again until 9, eats, and from then on she's awake a lot. She gets really short naps and wants to eat every other hour. My nanny wants me to stretch her to four hour feedings, but it's not happening right now. Selfishly I figure that I'm paying her to watch (and feed) Rose, so if the baby needs to eat every two hours for the next month or so, that's how it is. I'm a bit bitchy today.

When's your baby shower?

adriennella - Friday, 3 October
What's new with Cadence? Rose makes good eye contact and the occasional smile. That's about it.

shaunac - Thursday, 2 October
hhahahaha i weigh myself every morning too. lol. i was 144 this morning. im encouraged by that. u will be back down in no time. promise. im sure u look hot anyway;)

shaunac - Tuesday, 30 September
Totally it will help you lose weight. I'm losing like crazy. And Ariella is gaining. Yay...it means I must be breatfeeding right. She is up to 9.6. She weighed 8.6 and dropped to 7.15. I'm very happy with her gain:)

adriennella - Tuesday, 30 September
The Sea Wall is gorgeous! Whenever I come to Vancouver, I rent a bike and ride all along it. I'd love to go there for a coffee right now!

Ooh, you have another baby shower. WHen's that one? I can't believe how many gifts I've gotten and keep giving. I'm trying desperately to keep up with thank you notes.

shaunac - Tuesday, 30 September
soooo she is not sick. it's just nasal stuffiness that will take time to go away. annoying but I feel better about it. She also has some condition where her vocal cords are lazy and collapsing...totally normal and will resolve itself around 6 months.
how rude that your cousin brought sick kids around your baby! wow man. i'm sure cadence won't get sick. are you breastfeeding?...can't remember.
How are you today.

adriennella - Monday, 29 September
Wow, I started writing down Rose's feeding times today. I'm going to do that all week to see what her schedule is. Maybe next week I can stretch them a little bit!
Rose sleeps for a five hour and a three hour and then another three hour every night, but during the day she eats every two hours, I think.

Are you going out yet? I go out with the baby every day now. I can't stand to stay home. We went to an Italian festival which was wonderful. Tomorrow, I'm going to lunch with some friends.
