Hi my name is Jo and I live in Vancouver with my husband Chris. 3 months after a miscarriage in September of 2007, I found out I was pregnant - 3 weeks 2 days. I was exhausted, famished and a little nauseous. At 6.5 weeks a change in my symptoms led me to have an ultrasound where we found out I was pregnant with TWINS! I was so excited as I had always wanted one pregnancy of twins - I would kid around all the time that I would have my boy and girl in one shot. However the happiness was shortlived, as one of the them had a slow heart beat at 6.5 weeks then even slower at 7.5. At an ultrasound at 13 weeks we were told that there was one healthy fetus and an empty sac; that the 2nd one did not make it and was being 'absorbed' - Vanshing twin sydrome is what they call it. I was pretty sad, and happy at the same time. I still had a baby, but there was still a loss there.
I was pretty plagued with nausea and it took until about 18 weeks to get over the 'gross nausea' part, but even at 25 weeks I have moments when I think I'm going to puke.
At our 24 week ultrasound we found out we are having a girl! We have named her Cadence. It took up to about 21-22 weeks before I could feel her kicks and movement, but now that I can she sure doesn't sleep much!
Through the nausea, worry etc... I still am thankful everyday that I get to have a baby!!!! It's all worth it to me and I can't wait to do it again! Everyday I am so thankful that she is in there growing and I just cannot wait to meet her! Pregnancy has it's pains and discomforts but to me it's all worth it! I love being pregnant and I love my little girl!!!
I'm really happy to have found this site - I think I'm addicted. I check it 2-3 times a day. I work from home most of the time so it makes it more tempting to get on here. Thank you too for all your posts, I love hearing what everyone else is up to and knowing other people are feeling what I am.

Heard the heartbeat today, yippee! Now I feel better about going for my ultrasound on the 21st. We have to pay $500 for the testing and I don `t want to pay to just get bad news! Was happy to find out I `m not hypothyroid, just a teeny hyper. Go for more bloodwork next week to check thyroid again as well as part of the Early Trimester Screening. I am sooo looking forward to 2 weeks from now after all the tests and the 1st trimester!Thursday, 21 Feb
Had Ultrasound today. Baby is 13 weeks 1 day! Risks for chromosonal problems are very low! Only one baby, the twin did not make it. We are still very happy to be having one healthy baby and do be 13 weeks!!! sigh!

Had another ultrasound last week at 33 weeks - they estimate she is 5lbs 7oz already! big girl! I wonder what she will be by birth!???/ things are still going well. I'm starting to feel the 'weight' of it all in my knees and look pretty funny when I bend to pick something up and can't get up. Almost had to ask someone at the drug store to help me yesterday LOL! All in all I think I'm pretty lucky, no major aches and pains other than a lot of water retention. Definitely looking forward to meeting her!

Hi Jo what is Purelan? a cream? My nipples were only really bad for about 2 weeks and oh my goodness it is like 1000 hot knives going into them when the baby latches on, I had to bite my finger to try and overcome the pain. After 2 weeks though they went back to normal thank heavens. I have heard putting your own breast milk on them and then letting them dry naturally in open air is good (ok unless you have visitors lol..).

I hope that things dont get completely miserable for us!! I feel pretty good so far though! I really dont come on much now because I get so tired of hearing/reading the people complain about everything under the sun...no one ever said it was a picnic, but its well worth it! Actually, I moved my desk last weekend (actually, nephew and hubby did!!) into a different room, and I am starting to get used to how it looks in here..Hubby is re-insulating the walls of her room as we speak, and going to re-drywall them today. (Nothing is too good for the Princess). We ordered paint samples from where we are getting her crib quilt, room decor, etc and those came, so we painted a bit on the walls and picked our colors (a really pretty soft lavender and a soft sage green), and last night we bought a really cute ceiling fan/light for her room...its sooo girly, but whats so funny is that hubby HAD to have this one!!
Yours will get done soon enough too...We have time.. I dont know about you, but I keep telling the baby, Erin, to stay inside, we will come get her when its time!! Maybe its the nurse in me? Take care of yourself, and I'll be in touch soon!!!!! Patrice Justjill - Friday, 20 June

Just stopping in to see how you have been doing... Everything over here is good...Baby is laying on my bladder, so I am not really happy about that!! To date I have only gained 10 pounds, and the MD is ok with that... BTW, your belly looks so cute!! Pregnancy suits you Jo!! Camden is wonderful. Thank you. He is SO much more active than my first was. It is crazy to think that with my last pregnancy he was here in only like 7 more weeks. I was induced early, but still crazy to think they are already that big. Time flies. Seems like only yesterday we were all trying to just feel a little kick every now and then. Crazy huh!

AHH a maternity massage. I've heard they're great, but I hate people touching me, so I figured I should not try to get one. LOL. Yeah, I consider myself very lucky, too... I feel good! (albeit, if I tried to put together furniture I wouldn't!) I don't feel moody either. Sometimes I get a little weepy if my husband and I fight about something. But I was WAY more miserable and mean when I had PMS than I am now. Hope you enjoy your massage. :)

I loved the advice you gave to "firstkiddoforme". Great to see women out there being so supportive, and knowing what to say in certain circumstances. My hat is off to you for saying what you did. I hope she takes our advice.
