Hi my name is Jo and I live in Vancouver with my husband Chris. 3 months after a miscarriage in September of 2007, I found out I was pregnant - 3 weeks 2 days. I was exhausted, famished and a little nauseous. At 6.5 weeks a change in my symptoms led me to have an ultrasound where we found out I was pregnant with TWINS! I was so excited as I had always wanted one pregnancy of twins - I would kid around all the time that I would have my boy and girl in one shot. However the happiness was shortlived, as one of the them had a slow heart beat at 6.5 weeks then even slower at 7.5. At an ultrasound at 13 weeks we were told that there was one healthy fetus and an empty sac; that the 2nd one did not make it and was being 'absorbed' - Vanshing twin sydrome is what they call it. I was pretty sad, and happy at the same time. I still had a baby, but there was still a loss there.

I was pretty plagued with nausea and it took until about 18 weeks to get over the 'gross nausea' part, but even at 25 weeks I have moments when I think I'm going to puke.

At our 24 week ultrasound we found out we are having a girl! We have named her Cadence. It took up to about 21-22 weeks before I could feel her kicks and movement, but now that I can she sure doesn't sleep much!

Through the nausea, worry etc... I still am thankful everyday that I get to have a baby!!!! It's all worth it to me and I can't wait to do it again! Everyday I am so thankful that she is in there growing and I just cannot wait to meet her! Pregnancy has it's pains and discomforts but to me it's all worth it! I love being pregnant and I love my little girl!!!

I'm really happy to have found this site - I think I'm addicted. I check it 2-3 times a day. I work from home most of the time so it makes it more tempting to get on here. Thank you too for all your posts, I love hearing what everyone else is up to and knowing other people are feeling what I am.

Heard the heartbeat today, yippee! Now I feel better about going for my ultrasound on the 21st. We have to pay $500 for the testing and I don `t want to pay to just get bad news! Was happy to find out I `m not hypothyroid, just a teeny hyper. Go for more bloodwork next week to check thyroid again as well as part of the Early Trimester Screening. I am sooo looking forward to 2 weeks from now after all the tests and the 1st trimester!

Had Ultrasound today. Baby is 13 weeks 1 day! Risks for chromosonal problems are very low! Only one baby, the twin did not make it. We are still very happy to be having one healthy baby and do be 13 weeks!!! sigh!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

It's a girl!!! yippee! Cadence Sylvia!

July 15, 2008

Had another ultrasound last week at 33 weeks - they estimate she is 5lbs 7oz already! big girl! I wonder what she will be by birth!???/ things are still going well. I'm starting to feel the 'weight' of it all in my knees and look pretty funny when I bend to pick something up and can't get up. Almost had to ask someone at the drug store to help me yesterday LOL! All in all I think I'm pretty lucky, no major aches and pains other than a lot of water retention. Definitely looking forward to meeting her!

Thanks for your reply to my post. I've been wondering about back labor. By the way, you're completely adorable pregnant!!!!

crazymum - Wednesday, 28 May
Thank you for the info. I think it must be the starches because I only drink water with the odd glass of milk. Oh well as long as the baby is ok I think I shouldn't worry.

Thanks! I will look forward to sharing pictures of my new daughter and birth story.

Hey, Thanks, I guess all embarrassment goes out the window when we are giving birth.

whitebaby2 - Tuesday, 27 May
Why is it that men dont get dimples like women? That really sucks!! Men should have to carry children so that women can stay looking good. I guess if men had to carry them, the world would be very underpopulated.

I cant help but look at my butt everytime I get out of the shower, and it scares me more and more every time. I didnt know that my butt cheeks could hang that low.

Well I put a bikini on last week and I cant even see my thighs, my belly is in the way. And I didnt bother to look in a mirror, so there is NO telling what was hanging out down there, ewwww, gross!! ha ha

I know...food is the only thing we can still "do"...and then we feel guilty eating too much. I can't wait to drink a big, fat, icy beer when I'm done being prego! That was another annoying thing about finding out I'm above average with weight gain - if I'd been eating bad and not working out, then I'd expect it. But since I've been really trying not to gain too much, finding out that I had was soooo dissappointing!

Anyway, enough crying about stupid weight gain! I like the name Jakoby Daniel right now...but we'll see if it sticks. Daniel is my hubby's name so that'll be the middle name for sure. Jakoby is different, but I like it...we'll see what happens. It's either that or a totally common name, like Derrick...I can't decide. I'm sure we'll call him Koby if we name him Jakoby and I like that nickname. We'll see what happens????...boy names are sooo hard!

THANKS! I thought it was lame she said anything, too...unless it is a real concern - like 15-20 lbs - I don't get why she'd say anything at all. I'm already hormonal and moody and my body has already changed quite a bit which is not easy...it's like, please don't bother me about being 4 lbs above average! haha! I feel better just venting about it actually. I know my lil' guy will be worth it. CONGRATS on your baby girl, by the way! Cadence is such a cute name!

rkruegs - Monday, 26 May
Hi congrats on your pregnancy as well, do you know what you are having? see you in week 26

whitebaby2 - Sunday, 25 May
Wow, that is crazy! If it snows here, it takes no time for it to melt, I bet that is fun. I wish we had somewhere like that around here. My poor kid has never even seen the snow, he wouldnt know what to think!! Come on Jo, you can get up there in your bikini now!!!

whitebaby2 - Sunday, 25 May
Brrrr, Jo, that looks COLD!!! We dont get snow like that around here!!!

readyforbaby - Thursday, 22 May

I really hope you are doing well and that your little Cadence is being a good girl!...did you get any heartburn yet?....everything i eat at the moment is setting my insides on fire.....with Xander it was so bad towards the end....prob gonna be the same with this one....yay!!....I'm craving fresh orange juice but it just kills...lol....I've started to put on the beef now aswell....roughly 20lbs...which doesn't sound too bad except that with the other 2 I put on stacks between now and week 36......anyway I hope you are having a really lovely weekend and that you are feeling great xxxx

joannemichelle - Friday, 16 May
Thank you (for the Vicks) I just hate calling my doctor every other day with these questions!

Mama2Miaplus1 - Thursday, 15 May
That was like Mia when we chose her name I knew no children around with that name yet there was a Mia and two Miah's in her nursery.

Mama2Miaplus1 - Thursday, 15 May
Thats a lovely name and unusual too I have not come accross that before I don't think. Our last name is Lutwyche so Sparticus Lutwyche umm maybe!

Mama2Miaplus1 - Wednesday, 14 May
My friends little boy Harry said last night the baby should be called Sparticus off Lazy Town! Have you chosen a name?

Mama2Miaplus1 - Wednesday, 14 May
Thats the trouble every one knows someone called each name you choose or just says they don't like the name and it does put you off. My daughter has said so far lets call him Annabelle, or boy, or prince!

Mama2Miaplus1 - Wednesday, 14 May
We still have no name we can both decide on for a boy but we had lots for a girl. I like Kian and Nathan but my hubby likes Brendan after his mom Brenda whi passed away when he was 21. If we can't agree on anything in particular then the baby will be named Michael which is my dads name. Do you have any names?

Mama2Miaplus1 - Wednesday, 14 May
I thought we were having a boy last time and the baby was a girl and I was really suprised when we looked and she had girl bits! It is lovely having a daughter but I reckon you spend more money as there are soooooo many cute dresses etc for girls you can't resist them. This baby is a boy and I am looking forward to haveing a prince now to join our princess xx

Halloween*Bean - Wednesday, 14 May
