Hello all.

My name is Joann & I am pregnant with my first baby. My due date is Oct. 23, 2008. We are very excited but trying to contain ourselves as we had a scare early on. The Drs. thought there was a possiblity that it was a tubal pregnancy. It was a scary & long weekend waiting for bloodwork results & to have the sonogram, but in the end, it was good news. Next Dr. appt is 04/14/2008 & she said that if there is a good heartbeat on the Doppler, then it is safe to break the news (most family does not know yet).

Today we got to hear the heartbeat! Such an awesome sound. Today was also the day we decided to tell extended family, co-workers & friends. Such a relief to FINALLY let it out. Probably ended the work gossip about how big my 'gut' was getting. lol Almost 1/3 of the way there!!!!!!!

Another Dr. appt today. We got to hear the bun's heartbeat again. Was in the 150s. Other than that nothing monumental, besides my weight gain. YIKES!! 17 lbs total gain so far & not even half way there. Also scheduled the sonogram, so hopefully on the 30th the little one will cooperate so we know how to do up the room.

Today was the sonogram. As you can probably tell by the change in the color of text -- IT'S A GIRL!!! The tech showed us all of her 'parts' & assured us that everything was healthy & normal. She told me that my placenta is on the front wall & wraps around to the left, so I may not feel as many kicks as others would. All of the kicks that I have felt so far are on the right side. The tech also did some 3-d shots of the baby & they are so stinking cute. She had her hand up to her mouth like she was going to suck her fist. I also think that she resembles my dad's baby pictures. I cried the whole way through the procedure. I sincerely did not care about the gender. I was just praying for a healthy child. We will get to see her again at 35 weeks. I feel so blessed today.

Another Dr. appt today. Not too much to tell. Had a medical student do an evaluation before the doc came in. I liked her alot. She was very thorough & answered a lot of questions that I had. The doc went over the triple screen tests. Said that all results were below the average & that the baby appeared to be very healthy. Also discussed the sonogram. I asked how certain they were it was a girl. She said if thet were not sure, they would have marked- unknown-. I said was still going to hang onto receipts in case the baby grows a 'stem' by Oct. SO- all signs point towards a healthy pink bundle. SO excited to meet her!! Poor thing is still nameless ( & roomless as of yet).

Saw a new Dr. today. She just joined the practice. I think she is my favorite so far & I kinda hope she is the one who will deliver for us. The heart rate was 147, she said was right on track. I am thinking the baby did not like the Doppler, because she kicked it at least twice. We are getting started on the room. Heading to Lowes to get paint as soon as Mike is done showering. It is becoming more real now & am getting a bit nervous, yet so excited to meet her. The poor nameless thing. :)

Todays Dr. appt was quick. In & out in uder an hour which is pretty much unheard of. Another good heartbeat ( I still LOVE to hear it!!). Also I found out that I passed the glucose test. Yay! What a relief. Now I also start the 2 week check ups, which only means one thing-- the end is near!! Exciting yet frightening at the same time. Anyway- Mike & I are off to the beach tomorrow AM for our final alone time. I call it the babymoon. : )
