I am 17 weeks right now and doing great. I have really been feeling the baby move more which is exciting. Also when I lay on my back I have this hard little bump that sticks up. I have another appointment with the midwife on the 5th and then hopefully we will schedule our first ultrasound. It's been hard waiting this long, especially since I work in the Labor ward and the ultrasound machines are right there! Went for a walk with the dog today and the sun is out! Can't wait for summer!

22 1/2 weeks! I saw my midwife today and my husband surprised me and showed up for the appointment! His mom came too and I am so glad they were there cause the baby was sooo active. The midwife found the hearbeat right away and while I was laying there it kicked so hard that everyone saw it (except me!) :) The heartbeat was in the 160's and the midwife thought it might be a girl. That bummed my husband out. I am still waiting on an ultrasound. My GP wouldn't do it so I have to wait for my appt. with the OB on the 26th. I can't wait to see the little face! Well, off to work I go!

26 weeks! Woo hoo! I finally had my ultrasound on wednesday! Josh and I debated on finding out the sex. After going to babies r us to resgister ( and getting totally overwhelmed) we were starting to wonder if it wouldn't be easier to pick things out, knowing which colors to choose! Anywho, we resisted and so it will still be a surprise. The Dr. we saw was really nice and spent a good hour with us. She is supportive of home birth and it feels so nice to have a back up who is such a good doctor. She did the ultrasound and we got some really fun pics. The baby is vertex, yay! We got to see it's face and heart and hands and feet. It was so cute how it was covering it's face with it's hands and how it was playing kick ball with the umbilical cord. The only yucky thing about the appointment was having a pap smear and pelvic, but I guess it gets me ready for what it will be like during labor! I worked the night after my appointment and I think my cervix was tender cause I had never felt the baby kick it before but I sure did that night. Baby has been awfully active ever since the ultrasound. Too fun! Almost to the 3rd trimester!

I appreciate your message. My doctor has not told me yet if that is going to be the case. I go for my ultra sound tomorrow. I just have not thought of a c-section as an option, so the thought makes me a little scared. I have hips, so I know I can handle it.

Thanks so very much for sharing the Bradley class info. I was too late reading your message for the birth expo. Then, found out we may be moving for Dave's work, ugh. Hope you're enjoying this time. Baby Zach kicking & moving all over the place. We're excited. Have been exercising regularly and feel great!

By the way I read your journal and I think it's great having an at home birth I wanted to have a water birth but my hubby is to paranoid and I don't want to scare him more then what he'll already probably be maybe on the next one if i'm lucky. the heartbeat for my lil girl is always 160 and around there too so maybe it will be a girl!.

Thanks I did talk to my midwife and she told me to stay away from the sugar which is hard I love ice cream, but I'll do anything for my baby. My appt is in 1 week so hopefully everything is ok once I go in. Thanks again!

Overwhelmed? Who's overwhelmed? That would be ME!!!!! I finally started just registering in bits and pieces...I couldn't take it anymore, and I worried about everything I scanned...hehehe! I even emailed all my friends and asked them to tell me about products they hated/loved so maybe I could avoid getting some junk!! I also get online and review the products to see how others like (or hated) them. That has helped. Also, you can get a list online from BabiesRUs telling what things you should register for, so I am going through a section at a time to break it down and keep it less overwhelming. Hang in there...once we're done, it will be a real accomplishment! Good luck! :)

YES! for overwelming registring!! we went just to target and there was so much baby sutff to chose from, I finally started leaving it up to my husband to do the scanning, I told him if its cute and blue just scan it!! :)gives everyone more options!!

I didnt get too overwhelmed while at the Babies R Us, but it was kinda shocking how much stuff there is out there, but it was when I got home I started freaking out, wondering if I had made good choices! So I have spent many hours at their site online, reading all of the reviews (which are VERY helpful) and switching things around..adding this, taking off that...lol I decided that they should have a snack bar in that store! Were in there forever looking at stuff, they KNOW were going to get hungry! I think they would make a bunch of money :)lol

thank you for commenting I've always been there for everyone in my life its part of who I am, and then I realized the other day, its ok not to know everyhting or have an answer for everything. I'm just grateful for the ladies out there who are being a big suppport with my paranoid overly emotional thoughts of all the 'what if's' thanks again.. :)

that seems weird to feel the babys hiccups way down there...??

1stbaby81 - Friday, 7 Mar
That is so funny because I was about a little over weight and I had the same issue through my first trimester. I lost 8 pounds because I was not hungry and morning sickness. So hopefully I come out thinner after she is born...wouldn’t that be funny. Have a great weekend.

Don't worry because I am small too. I have only gained 11 pounds and I am just starting to look like I am pregnant and not chubby...You look great just think if you don’t gain the extra weight you don’t have to lose it. That’s my goal...to gain only what is needed to have a healthy baby no extra weight. Hope all is going well. Do you know what you are having?

araya-sunshine - Friday, 7 Mar
I think your baby bump is just right for 23 weeks. Not too big and not too small. Your baby is coming along just perfect! Everyone says I look really small for 23 weeks but I'm about the same size as you. Those people just don't know what they're talking about!

Thank you so much for the re-assurance, I really have not felt any serious, and hard movement since Tuesday. Peoples personal experences make a big diffrence and are very helpful. Thank you very much. =) God Bless,
Jacquie

Hello! I saw your screen name and had to click on your page. My husband's name is Joshua too and I am due the same day you are!! Have you found out what the sex is yet? We won't find out until Feb 20th.... so 1 week and 6 days until we find out. Seems like everyone on our week has found out already. Best of luck with everything!

HerselfTheElf - Tuesday, 5 Feb
Yes, thanks! I have been drinking so much water all along. My dr. said that lots of pregnant woman have them from the hormones and that it's ok to take a dose of tylenol every day if need be. After a couple weeks, they went away for whatever reason.

Sulli679 - Thursday, 31 Jan
I saw your reply, I work 12 hour shift during the day on a med/surg floor. Quite crazy, not sure how long my pregnant body will be able to keep up with it. I will try to work as far up to my due date as I can, so that I can have more time off with the baby afterwards. I am working full time right now, hopefully I can convince my husband to let me do part time after the baby is here. Hope all is well with the baby!

Sulli679 - Wednesday, 23 Jan
Just wanted to say Hi and congrats. This is also my first baby, I am in my 11th week. Just thought it was interesting my hubby's name is also Josh and I am also an RN. Congrats and have fun!

Congrads!

HerselfTheElf - Wednesday, 23 Jan
I have an appointment tomorrow so I will talk to my dr. about them. My blood pressure always seems to be normal, but there must be some other reason.
