Patrick and I got married less than 3 months after we met for the very first time - that was nearly 19 (very interesting) years ago. We have 6 children, born in 4 different countries. They are each lovely and I am so proud of them.

Found out I was pregnant in February 2008. Unexpected, but hey...

2008

September 16th:
Had abdominal pains and eventually went to the hospital. I thought it may be heartburn or gas pains, as it was sort of a burning sensation, but down near my bellybutton. The midwife wondered if it might be bleeding from the placenta, as that's where it was apparently positioned. They transferred me to Cairns for a scan and for observation, but I went into labor on the way. Got to Cairns still only 2cm dilated and not effaced. Given a drip at dinner time, as my glucose level was very low by now, having had nothing to eat since toast and an orange at 10am. Not fish and chips, but got my BGL back up. I was still picking superglue off my fingers from fixing Tycho's toy shield when they came to tell me there was an opening in theatre, and took me in for c-sec at about 9:30pm. Penny born at 10:36pm. As she was born, they lifted her above the screen, but I really only got to see her butt, and they took her to check and clean her off. The spinal block was awful, affected my heart and had to get narcotic injection which made my mouth dry and head itchy, and was having trouble breathing by the time they stitched me up. I was shaking like I was freezing cold.

September 17th: Recovery took over an hour but then good. Her blood glucose was low at first testing, so they gave her 20ml formula, but BGL came good and she has taken to breastfeeding well. She's lovely!!

September 18th: Transferred back to Mossman this afternoon, where Pat and the kids finally came and met little Penny. Doctor was busy dealing with patients from a minibus accident where the bus had hit a horse, but finally we saw the doctor, and she discharged us. Home by taxi, without even paracetamol for pain. Very very happy to be home with Penny and pleased to have shared this wonderful journey with all the ladies here on this site.

October 6th: Trip to Cairns just for fun, with all the kids.

October 20th: Penny and I flew to Townsville for her hearing test. All is well!

November 12th: 2 month shots and check-up: 4.75kgs, 57cms, entirely breast-fed. (10.4lbs)

2009

January 14th: 4 month shots and check-up, 6.3kgs, 63cms (13.9lbs)

January 16th: 4 months old today; Penny's had tastes of lychee, banana, mango and sweet potato, but we're now giving her a feed of mashed banana every afternoon about 3 or 4pm. She doesn't need the extra calories; but does enjoy food!

February 2: Penny's first cold :( She's coughing and has a runny nose, but not too bad - lasts only a day.

February 9th: First little laugh :D So cute!!!!

March 25th: Six month check-up and shots; 8.2kgs!

April 3rd: Penny has a middle ear infection. Was very sad and grumpy, but good now that she's on antibiotics.

April 12th: Easter Sunday Penny's first tooth finally emerges!

July 12th: Penny crawls! She already claps and waves "bye bye"

August 4th: Swine 'flu :(

August 25th: first steps

September 16th: Happy birthday little Bumblebee!!

krissyRYEcarpenter - Tuesday, 17 November
we found out last friday it's a little girlll. we're soo excited. nobody in casey's family has had a boy after him. his brother has 3 girls and this is our 2nd. her name's makynli peyton faith. peyton after her big sister watching over her in heaven and faith that we have the strength to be parents so soon after losing peyton. the dr said she's in her 70th percentile for length and 20th for weight. no suprise as peyton was in the 110th percentile for length at 2 months old and 60th for weight...baby dust and good luck to all the mommies [:
