Not long to go and very excited. Had a few hurdles along the way. Diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes which is controlled by diet, have a couple of fibroids and my baby was in breech position from week 33 but at week 36 has moved back which is a nice surpise!

Been told she is a girl so we have named her Emily Josephine.

Just been told I am being induced on Wednesday, 26th March, 2008

Thanks for the message about GD and induction on my page. I saw the doc today and she checked my cervix. It was NOT favorable, and I discussed my concerns about induction and c-section with her. She agreed that a c-section would not be a great thing for me ( I am a plus sized woman and the incision site may be more prone to infection and a harder recovery). So, she is not going to induce me next week, but rather check me again and continue with the bio-physical ultrasounds that I have been getting twice a week. She even said she would let me go 2-3 days past my due date, but if baby didn't come on her own by then, she would have to induce. I can totally understand that theory, and believe me, I'd be ready for anything to get her out of me if I end up being late haha. I do feel much better now though, knowing that my body is being given a chance to do its thing on its own without a ton of medical intervention. I hope you can talk with your doc about the same thing. Good luck with your induction, I hope it goes smoothly and safely for you! You must be so excited to be getting ready to meet your little one.

Good luck on Wed!! Just curious, I have GD too, diet controlled....any idea on how big they think your baby is? I start going for weekly ultrasounds next week.

also....if you are 2.5 cm already I think they would break your water at 3cm not give you more gel, I was 2 cm dil with my 2nd when they did the gel and they said that at 3 I can have waters broken...anyway It sounds like your body is starting to get ready...I wouldn't be surprised if you went naturally before wed!!!

Hey Juliet! I just didn't want to think of any one being frightened by that ladies post!! I had the Gel both times and only needed it once each time....It can be uncomfortable when they put it in and you might get some intense contractions immediately afterwards which go away again then return later on when labour starts properly....I found that standing up and putting my hands on my hips and gently swaying my hips round and round like doing the hulahoop helped to bring on the labour...and walking around also....don't stay in bed...like I say, I delivered 2 big baby boys after inductions and I'm not worried about doing it again...the hospital will be taking very good care of you esp since you have GD....and you are the one in charge...always remember that...I'm very excited for you it's such an intensely amazing time, I wish you all the best and I will be thinking of you! If you are up to it let me know how you get on! lots of love from Scotland...Heather xxx

Yes, I have had the choking on vomit in your mouth experience - thank god you wake up from it, but it really shakes you up and is horrible to have to deal with when you were fast asleep 5 seconds earlier..it really is very unpleasant..I just grab the mouthwash and try and take the taste away asap, but it does leave you shaken!

Good luck on your induction! I'm sure it will work for you. It's very rare that nothing happens from a dual cervodil/pitocin induction. Just make sure you're flexible with pain management. :)

my little ones not engaged yet either, its so frustrating i just want a little progress. my midwife is not seeing me now untill friday 28th when they will give me a membrane sweep to try and bring things along, but i'm so hoping it will all be over with by then, good luck on your induction

Thanks for your response about induction. I figured most people were being induced because of GD, high blood pressure or some complication. Hope all goes well with you! Best of luck!

heatherography - Sunday, 16 Mar
thanks for the comment about your situation. i'm just scared the baby's going to be too big, none of my doctors seem too concerned about it, even though i am absolutely huge! the baby feels really big too. i wish i was you and could have been induced early! haha. well, good luck with everything! thanks again :)
