December 7,

Hi everyone, I am expecting my 2nd child on 8/6/08. I have a wonderful husband of 4 years and a 2 year old son. I can't wait until my son has a sibling to share his childhood with. Good luck to all you mothers to be & those whom are trying to concieve. I hope to meet new friends here and share our pregnancy ups and downs.

December 12,

My husband and I were planning for baby #2 so I decided to try and concieve on my birthday. Sure enough on Nov. 30th I took the digital test and it read pregnant. I have a doc appointment on Dec. 18th. I hope all is well and that they do an internal u/s to see the baby. Lately I have been craving tomatos and veggies. I really think its going to be another boy but I will not find out the sex (I love suprises). Also my husband and I are waiting to suprise the family with the baby news on Christmas. Its so hard to hold all this good news in when I talk to my family everyday... I feel like I'm bursting at the seams.

March 26,

Well Today I reach week 21! How exciting to feel this little one punch and kick alot more. I have not had an ultrasound yet :( Most people have had 2-3 already by now. My last pregnancy I had 4 ultrasounds done, but also I had a cyst on my ovary that ruptured and caused alot of pain. My husband and i have decided on a few names: Boy- Gabriel (Gabe) Girl- Avery or Gwendolyn (Gwen). I am pretty sure on gabe but the girl name will probably be a struggle until I see a baby girl in front of my face. I really don't care what sex the baby is this time.

Hi there, it's been a very long time since I have been on here. Hope you are doing well. i read the prev. comment abot cytotec, OMG I would have flipped if my doc even suggested that. If you are into going natural and stuff and you haven't yet check out Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, it was an incredible, empowering book, I have totally made the decision to go natural and I was goign to do hypnobirthing but being stuck in a hospital I figure they're going to bug me every 20-30 min anyway so what would be the point, lol.

Hey, the more I think about what you said about your Dr wanting to induce you with cytotec, the more upset it makes me. Have you considered reporting her? There has to be some sort of misconduct for a Dr to knowingly use a drug like that knowing the repercutions. Apparently the drug company does not recommend it for that type of usage and hasn't since 2001. I think not trying to check into the legalities of her behavior could be a disservice to all the pregnant women in her "care" who might not be as knowledgible and astute as you. It just makes me so mad thinking about a Dr with her kind of cavalier attitude.... I'm so glad you are finding someone else to look after you and your precious little one.

I think the book MissyNY is talking about is the same one I just finished: Hypnobirthing the Mongan Method. You can go to hypbirth.com and they have a training cd set, which is in essence what you'd do with a practitioner from Mongan. If you go to hypnobirthing.com, you can do a search for practitioners in your area. For instance, our doula just got certified as a practitioner. Doesn't have to be a doc... could be a doula, psychologist, nurse, etc.

It takes a lot of practice and quite a bit of commitment from dad. I suggest you both read the book through before deciding what sort of time commitments you can give. You CAN do the training on your own using only the book. Our doula self-trained for her birth and used a stop-smoking relaxation tape to train to go "deeper" (explained in the book). All the breathing is described in the book, too. And when you do the "Rainbow Relaxation" part of the cd, make sure you're doing NOTHING else. I put myself under while updating paperwork in the lab where I work. It was like waking up from a half-hour time-warp!

Hi June! I am reading the Hypnobirthing book now, since I can't find any classes near me. (I live in Queens, NY)
I LOVE this book. I spoke to my Dr. about it yesterday, and told him I am against all labor inducing/speeding drugs, as well as painkillers. He was totally in agreeance with me, and told me that since I am having a normal healthy pregnancy so far, he sees no reason why I can't have it my way! I also told him I get very nauseous and sick from painkillers, so I don't want anything stronger than probably really srtong Tylenol, he said that was fine. I got the Hypnobirthing book at Barnes&Noble. If they don't have it, you can order it. It comes with a relaxation CD too. I love this book and it's philosophy. It has made me much more relaxed and ready for a natural birth. Good Luck! :)
