Hi everyone! My name is Kara and I am 13 weeks pregnant today (12/18). I had my second doctor visit 3 weeks ago and had my first ultrasound. It was so awesome to see the baby, which looked like a skeleton or alien, but was so cute at the same time. The heart beat was great the doc said. I hope to get more energy soon since that is about the only thing that has been slowing me down. Lucky me, I had no morning sickness. I can't wait to go back to the doc at the beggining of the year. Until then, I hope all is well to everyone!

12/26/07

I am now out of my first trimester. I am excited about that. Quick update: everything is still going good. My next doctor's appointment is next week. I woke up a few mornings ago with a belly though. That was odd, but I am excited because now it doesn't look like a beer belly, it actually looks like a pregnant belly. Until next week. Hope everyone had a great Christmas! (We got our first pair of baby shoes!) :)

01/04/08

Yesterday I went for another check up. I didn't know we would do another ultrasound. "B" (what we call the baby for now) is growing at a normal rate and has a good heartbeat as well. I got new pictures and was told that next visit we can find out the sex. How exciting!! I can't wait until January 31st.

1/21/08

Ok, so I have a week and a half left to find out the sex of the baby. I am too excited and anxious that it is going by so slow. I have been feeling really good lately. Still pass out at around 9:30-10:00 every night, so no staying up late for me. I have yet to feel the baby kick. I am so worried that something is wrong, but I know that others have not felt their baby either so it makes me feel better. I hope it is soon though. Still growing and getting big and having a problem finding maternity pants that are long enough. Thank god it is hot down here and can roll the pants up into capri's. I had to buy jeans that were just a couple sizes bigger just to have a pair of pants for if it is a little chili outside. Anyways, can't wait till next week. I will update you then!! :)

1/31/08

Ok, I just got back from the doctor and we are having a baby boy!!! Little Mason Lee. It was so exciting to see him again. The nurse said he was one of the squirmiest babies she has tried to measure in years, so while she was busy trying to get him to move for about 10 minutes, I got 10 minutes of heaven just laying there watching him already starting trouble. Haha! He was growing at a normal rate, everything still on track, and his heartbeat was wonderful. I got some great pictures of him and can't stop looking at them right now. I can't wait to meet my little man!!!

2/29/08

Well, I went to the doctor yesterday and had a check up. We got the results back from our u/s of all little Mason's organs and everything looked great the doc said. We listened to his heart beat which was also good she said, she didn't tell me the bpm, but I was glad to hear it. As far as everything goes right now, everything for Mason is going wonderful. The only thing she said was to watch my weight. Me!!! I have always been told to gain weight. I have put on 20 lbs. Now, I was a little underweight when I got preggo, but I thought it was weird having someone to tell me to watch my weight. Honestly, I have no idea where it went. It does not look like I have gained 20 lbs. at all. I think it is all going to my thighs and butt. Lol! I don't care though as long as my baby is healthy, I will give him all the nutrients he needs. 6 months already. How time flies!

3/26/08

Ok, finally to the 3rd trimester!! Yeah! I had my diabetes test today which wasn't as bad as I remember it being with the 3 hour test. Hopefully nothing comes up abnormal so I have to do the 3 hour one, but I have this feeling I will have to anyways. Got a good face shot of the little prince today and man are his cheeks big. He definatley has his dads cheeks. I can't wait to be able to squeeze those fat cheeks of his. Right now he is feet first. Sitting indian-style right on mommy's bladder almost making her pee on herself about 5 times a day. It has been that way for about 2 weeks so I was not surprised when the doc said he was feet first. She didn't seem concerned about it yet so hopefully he turns in the next weeks ahead. As of everything else, we are doing good, we will go back in 2 weeks to get our blood test results. I will give the next update then. Baby dust to all!!!!!! :)

4/23/08

Went for another check up today and everything was great still. He is measuring just fine and his heartbeat is still the most beautiful thing to hear. Only 9 more weeks to go, (hopefully a little sooner) then I can hold my little man and enjoy being away from work for 7 1/2 weeks. Yipee!!!! My baby shower is this Saturday and I am so excited! Dylan and I just have the blinds and curtains to hang up in Mason's room, then we are done in there until we get our baby shower gifts. I am starting to get so ridiculously tired, my back hurts 24/7 and the only releif it gets is when I lay flat on my back. My RLS has come back 3x worse than before and I have got to constantly keep moving, so there goes resting. Leg lifts work, but some days I have to do alot more than others. I go back to the doc in 2 weeks, I am really hoping to have an u/s then so I can see his chubby cheeks again. Until next time, hope everyone can hold out a little longer. We are almost done!

5/7/08

Well yet another check up and everything is still great! He has got a strong heartbeat and I actually lost 2 ounces. I know not much, but when you go from gaining 5-8 lbs everytime you have been to the doc, it was kind of a shock to me. Doc says I am all baby. Thank god! I did not want to have too hard of a time losing baby weight. After next appt. I will go every week. They will check my cervix next time which I am excited about, but then again I hear everyone saying that it is painful, so I am inbetween. I hope he starts dropping soon so I can breath again, but my luck he won't drop until like 2 days before. Lucky me!

Hi... congrats on your little miracle.I do have people who are ignorant that tell me my pitbull will get jealous and look at the baby as competition or prey. I just know how we've raised her and how gentle and kind she is. I don't let it bother me, I just speak up and let them know that the kind of dog you hear about attcking people or kids aren't your average housedog- they're dogs who have been mistreated or fought. It's all in how you raise and treat your animals. I just sort of let her do the talking for us- she's very friendly, well mannered, and sociable- and people don't get to see that side of Bulls. How old are your Bulls? Take care--- Jenn P

Oh, I know how you feel! I really really hope that the baby cooperates! I will pay the tech a little on the side to look until I find out. lol, thats how desperate I am! This trimester, and last trimester is going very well for me. Sharp pains through the belly but other than that I am doing ok! My last pregnancy was a breeze, and I am hoping this one is a breeze as well. Although, I dont remember taking so many tests, blood work or any of that. Mind you, that was 9 years ago, so I am sure that things have gotten alot stricter.

Hey! I just got your message about being a vet tech and wanted to get back to you. I am right now a receptionist and am being trained to learn the tech position also. I've worked in veterinary hospitals (2 different ones) for almost 2 years now and my experience has been that you don't even necessarily need to be certified to be a vet. tech. The first vet I worked for was a private locally-owned practice. Most of the techs there were hired with little or no experience and trained completely on how they wanted things done there. They informed me that even if techs were certified, they wouldn't make a whole lot more money, and it didn't necessarily make a big difference in getting hired, because they wanted to train people to do things 'their way' anyway. In fact, out of the techs there, even the head tech who made good money and had been doing it for 10 years or something, none of them had gone to school for it, and they told me when I was htining about it that it was a waste of money. However, now I work for a vert that is part of a national chain, and our head tech did go to school for it. I think she makes pretty good money, but I'm not positive. I know she does get quite a bit more responsibility and respect from the doctors than the other techs and probably makes a littl emore than they do because she is certified. So in her case I think it was worth it. However, they do all get the same benefits and what not whether they're ceritifed or not. So I guess my advice would be that it depends on which type of vet you would like to work for. I do LOVE my job though. It never really gets old or boring. It makes you feel good and you get to learn a lot and know you're helping people...and be around animals all day! I would call around to some vets in your area that you might want ot work at and ask them if ther require they're techs to be certified and if it makes much difference in how much they get paid before you decide. And also my advice would be to work for a private, one-of-a-kind vet rather than a chain. It's more personable, not so business like and not so many 'rules' and formalities that you have to follow. So I hope that helps! Best of luck to you and feel free to ask me any more questions you may have!

13 more days girl till I find out, and 16 more days for you! Man, I hope this baby cooperates seriously! If not, I am doing the 3d/4d like a week later!

Thank you for your opinion; I'm glad you agree. Good luck with your pregnancy too! :)

Thank you for the support! I think you're right...once the baby is here, I don't see how it could not be accepted and loved by my family. Hopefully it all will work out okay. It helps to know that other people have been through it too and that everything turned out good. Congestion is so frustrating huh? But I guess if that is the worst of it, it's not so bad! We're both lucky we didn't have any morning sickness!Good luck with everything and thanks again for the support!

JKs-Girl - Friday, 11 Jan
Well maybe you will get your girl, and I will get my little boy. I really feel as though I am having a little girl though. Lol, my appointment was Feb 15, then Feb 1st, now it is Jan 28th! Now I think that it is time to stop right there and be patient! My daughter is 9, so she has been waiting to have a sibling for about 6 years now! I am in the process of adopting my sisters son, but she wants a baby baby in the picture. Her nephew is almost four and we got him at age 2, so she has never experienced the baby part of it. But now she will get too and could not be happier! I have never seen her slow so much! Kind of like I am glowing! Well hun, keep in touch. Write when you can!

BreeCole - Friday, 11 Jan
aww you and your boy are wayy cute together!! anyways. I know I absolutely hate morning sickness. My dr. said itd be gone lol i just hope its for a VERY small time. I drank some ginger ale.. how ever you spell it lol and it helped me today so i think im going to the store and stockin up on that. nothing else has helped. people tell me crackers and jolly ranchers blah blah.. i think you just gotta find something for yourself. Good luck

Yeah don't feel bad I've gotta work too and I can't bring my baby - even though my boss did...but it's her fathers business so that's another thing. We don't have a maternity leave policy here but I do get 5 weeks of disability at 60% of my pay. Which is good but I've gotta pay the insurance for the 3 months I'm out and it's $1,300 a month! Can you beleive that one. SO we've been saving for a while and I've saved all my vacation time and stuff so we should be ok. I am showing now – but I am a little bigger so it took a while longer to show. I love wearing maternity cloths they are soo comfy. What about you – you look like a small girl so you musttt be showing :) Other than the not sleeping, nausea, no alcohol etc lol...I love being pregnant!!

Hi! My next appt. is the 28th of this month and I can hardly waittt. I'm getting a 3D ultra sound. I guess they are going to be checking the baby’s spine. Apparently diabetics tend to have babies with spinal problems - whatever I'm trying not to think about thatt to much. I was told that they could check the sex for me at that time (or at least they better) :) I'd love to have a little girl but between my husband’s family and mine there are 5 baby girls and the youngest boy is 15 and he is 1 of only 2 boys in both our families! SO with that being said it would be pretty cool to have a boy - for the family’s sake! Just thinking about it makes me so anxious and excited! I already have plans with a g-friend to go baby shopping the second week in Feb. so hopefully they’ll be able to tell. I know lot women that are able to bring their baby's to work. Are you bringing yours to work with you? Assuming of course your working after you have it. I unfortunately have no choice as much as I'd love to be that 'stay at home mom' I've gotta work :( bummer. But that's life I guess.

angelof08 - Thursday, 10 Jan
Hi Kara! I did get a little more sleep last night. However, anytime I need to roll over I wake up and then I'm like wide-awake for a while! UGH but I feel much better today. My stomach isn't hurting as much either. I did a little research last night and I beleive the pain in the lower stomach is just ligaments stretching and nothing really serious. I have an appt. next week with my OBGYN figured I’d just double check with her then. I'm jealous you’re in warm weather!! It's about 35-40 here in VT today!! It’s warmer than usual but still cold. Take care and keep in touch!

angelof08 - Wednesday, 9 Jan
I went out with a girlfriend at lunch and vented so feel a little better. I was thinking the same about how I was going to feel in 3 months if I feel like this now!! UGH! I soo wanna enjoy my pregnancy and not dread it! We'll see - but somehow I think the next 162 days are going to be long ones!! lol.. HEY my name is Kara too! :) Take care I hope you get some rest tonight!

heathersprk - Tuesday, 8 Jan
Thats so funny we had the same dream! Cool about the same due date too! When I had my last ultrasound the baby was actually measuring small so I highly doubt it will end up at 11 lbs! My son was born 4 lbs 9 oz and that felt big enough lol. Dreams can really be crazy! Keep in touch, nice to meet you!

Hi there. I live in the Houston area...pretty far from Katy though. I laugh at the belly thing. I'm a week less than you and I have one too! This is my second pregnancy and I've only gained a pound but it sure looks like more!

Jillian217 - Thursday, 27 Dec
Yeh Im going to have to talk to my doctor about it tonight. I just got a cold, so Im hoping the lack of energy has been stemming from that. We'll see what happens when the cold is gone!! Hope everything else is going well for you!

JKs-Girl - Wednesday, 26 Dec
Call me crazy, but I wish I was showing. I used to weigh 131 before pregnancy and now I weigh 127. I am losing weight and not gaining anything. My doctor said that was normal. I hope so! I so badly want to be wearing maternity clothes. I told my fiance' he better watch out, cause I am going all out on clothes for this pregnancy! lol. He is ready. I am glad to hear that your pregnancy is going smooth like mine is. Its nice, but it is also scary. But he/she is still in there! Yay. Well write back if you get time! Have a good day!

on-cloud-9 - Wednesday, 26 Dec
Than you so much Kara. How funny is is that we have the same due date? Best of luck with everything, and take care!

kirstin - Friday, 21 Dec
Hi! It will be cool to have a June baby! My daughter was born in April and that was good too, tho!! Congrats and hopefully we will both get some energy soon. I am constantly feeling drained. I look forward to seeing how many of us due on 6/23 will actually stick with that day!!

JKs-Girl - Friday, 21 Dec
Hello there! We are not too far apart! I live in the Houston area as well! How is your pregnancy going? Mine is going by very smoothly! I sometimes forget that I am pregnant because no signs of it, but the ultrasound says different! Our baby was just a moving. Well, keep in touch! Congrats on your pregnancy!
