its a girl!

3-31-08
Our little girl is here!! I found out when I went in for my weekly Dr. appt. last Thurs. that I was 3 cm dilated and in early labor. I was only 36 1/2 weeks so I was a bit surprised but very excited. I was having contractions that were 2-3 mins. apart, but they were not painful, so I went home to rest and to pack my bags. I called my husband at work and let him know it was show time very soon! I thought we would be back to the hospital in a few hours, but we ended up staying at home all night Thurs. and all the next day on Fri. I was very nauseous all day Fri. but still did not feel any pain with contractions so we decided to go to bed Fri. night at around 10pm. At around 12:00 am I woke up feeling contractions 2-3 mins apart that were finally a bit painful. I woke up hubby around 1am and told him I was ready to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital at 1:30 am (Sat. morning) and found out I was 4-5 cm dilated and fully effaced. Contractions were getting more and more painful, and about an hour later I asked for my epidural. The epidural slowed things down a bit so it wasn't until 10:30 that morning (Sat.) that I was fully dilated and ready to push. I had my epidural so I didn't feel any pain, but I pushed for over an hour and a half, and it was exhausting after being on bed rest and doing nothing strenuous for months! She was finally born at 12:00 noon on Sat., March 29. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz and was 20.5 inches long. Yes, a very big girl for being 3 1/2 weeks early! I am so grateful she came when she did! She is perfectly healthy and did not have any complications from being pre-term. We stayed in the hospital for two nights and came home today (Mon.) We were very ready to be home. We are so in love!

Hi. I found this site b/c I have been on disability from work, and now modified bedrest, and I have lots of time to spend online now! I have had partial Placenta Previa and now have high BP, so I have not been able to do much during this pregnancy. I have an outside sales job, so I have been off work for two months now. The worst part has been the "pelvic rest" due to the placenta previa. It has been hard on us (I actully think harder for me than my husband.) This is my second pregnancy, but my son is almost seven, so it has been a long time since I have been through all of this! I have really enjoyed reading all of your entries, and it has helped pass the time while I am home. :)

March 14, '08 (34 1/2 weeks)

I had my u/s appt. with the specialist y'day to see just how big this baby girl is now. I do not have GD, but I have been measuring 4 weeks ahead. Well, she weighs 7 lbs. already! Her abdoman and head are measuring 4 weeks ahead. And she is gianing about 3/4 lbs. a week. With 5 weeks to go it is needless to say, I will most likely have to be induced early. But b/c of my pre-e, it will most likely come to that anyway. She is fully enagaged in the birth canal and I am 70-75% effaced. I would love to go into labor naturally, as I was induced with my first b/c of pre-e and never got to experience labor. But with being on this strict bed rest, I can't imagine I will go into labor without some assistance. I have another u/s on March 31 (I'll be 37 weeks) to check her size again and to have an amnio to see if her lungs are developed. If the test comes back that her lungs are developed, then I will be induced the next day. But that would be April Fools Day!

Feb. 26, '08 (32 weeks)

I was sent to the hospital L&D y'day b/c my BP was very high and wouldn't come down and there was protein in my urine. At the hospital they hooked me up to the fetal monitor and did blood work. The blood work came back fine and my BP went down while I was there. But, I am now on strict bed rest. I can only get up to use the bathroom or take an occasional quick shower. I was induced almost a month early with my son due to pre-eclampsia, and I see this heading in the same direction. The good news is he weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz at birth and was perfectly healthy. This baby girl is measuring a month ahead of my due date, so hopefully if they have to take her early, she will be plenty big and strong. :) I will be going in 3x's a week now for fetal monitoring and to have my BP checked. This also means we won't be having either of my two baby showers now. I am disappointed, but know what is important is to keep her in as long as possible, which means I won't be doing anything for the next 4 weeks or so. For now, we are both healthy and happy and doing well. We are just rest, rest, resting! :)

Feb 15, '08 (30 weeks)

I had my dr. appt. and my blood pressure was decent, but I did have some protein in my urine. I am on constant BP/preeclampsia watch. Also, I am now measuring 4 weeks ahead of my projected due date. I have an u/s in two weeks to see how big she really is. At my last u/s she was measuring 3 weeks ahead, so we will see if she is now 4 weeks ahead as we suspect. I don't know what it will mean, or if it will change any course of action, but I am actually happy she is big just in case the pre-e gets out of control and they have to take her early as happened with my first born. I was induced almost a month early with him b/c of the pre-e, and he weighed a healthy 7 lbs. 2 oz. So bigger is better just in case. Now if I go full term, that could be a different story. OUCH!

Feb 1, '08 (28 weeks)

I had an u/s appt. and a dr.'s appt today. They checked the location of my placenta, and it has moved up a bit again and is now 3 cm away from my cervix, which means I can have a vaginal birth now! The baby weighed in and measured at 31 weeks. And when I went to see my dr. after the u/s she measured me and I measured at 31 weeks too. According to the u/s she weighs 3 and a half pounds already. I'm not sure if she is just a big baby or if I am farther along than thought. I am going to get another u/s in 5 weeks to see how she is measuring. She is head down and facing my back, in the ready position. I hope she stays that way! Oh, they also said she has a BIG head! Yikes!

Jan. 28, '08 (28 weeks)

Ok, yesterday I definitely felt like I had lost by body completely. It started with not being able to tie my shoes. I had to ask my husband to help me. Then that made me laugh, and my laugh was so deep (my husband asks why being pregnant makes me laugh like Santa Clause) that only made me laugh harder at myself, then because I laughed hard, I peed in my pants a bit. I ended up on the floor laughing so hard with wet underwear. God, what has happened to me??!! Thank goodness my husband thinks it's funny too. We laugh together, which I am so thanful for. Time to work on my Kegels!

Jan. 26, '08

I have measured right on track all pregnancy, but now I am measuring a bit big. I passed my glucose test though! :) Was hoping that wasn't why I was a bit big. I have an u/s appt. next week to see if my placenta has moved up more. I may be in the clear for a vaginal birth if so.

Hey, nothing here yet!

Thanks!
So, I took my blood pressure in school today and it was 128/78 so I don't think that is too bad. I have a nurse visit to check it at the office today so I am curious to see what it is there! Hope your having a great day.

micahsmommy - Monday, 11 Feb
My husband is in medical sales too-he sells ostomy supplies. I have disability through the school so it may work to my advantage! I have been monitoring it closely at home and it is so much lower even after working out(just walking or yoga) and going to the store and things like that. I will just have to see what happens and get lots and lots of rest. Although I completely would not mind stopping teaching sooner (: I am excited you helped me with the picture thing. I have been waiting for my husband to come home and take a belly picture to put up!

micahsmommy - Sunday, 10 Feb

Thanks for the help with the photos! I am off to take some belly pics and hopefully post them tonight!

micahsmommy - Sunday, 10 Feb
that is helpful-thanks and now I am working on the pictures! I have been trying to get as much rest as I can but I know it must go up during the day- I teach fourth graders!
I like your doctors advice, it is frustrating because I love my doctors but I see quite a few because I go to a large practice so I think they all have some different ideas about things and since this is my first of course I want to be doing things correctly!

micahsmommy - Sunday, 10 Feb
thanks for the response. I have been monitoring it at home and it had been about 125/75. But, everytime I go to the ob it runs about 145/86. I have no other signs of pre-eclampsia (protein, liver enzymes, etc.) though so I kind of wondering if I am stressed about it at the ob and it is higher! they have not put me on bedrest or told me to stop working yet-they just want me to come in and have it checked by the nurse once a week. I think they are extra precautious because it seems to run in my family. They mentioned medicine to me-but since my pressure has been good at home I am a little leary to try them. Plus I know they cant prevent pre-eclampsia if it is going to happen. Good luck to you! Your pictures are too cute. I need to figure out how to post more on my page!

luvbugkw - Sunday, 10 Feb
im sorry to hear what you are going thru that. I dont know much about it. So u were on bed rest or just having to take it easy? micahsmommy - Saturday, 9 Feb
Hey! I have a quick question. My BP has been climbing the past few office visits, but I have no other signs for pre-eclampsia. I was curious to see if they gave you BP meds or just bed rest? Thanks for the help!

MoniL - Saturday, 9 Feb
Well Im not sure Why oatmeal is a diuretic, but I was told by a family member to eat it for water weight and that its also good for blood pressure. Something about the grains absorbing the salt and fat and digesting it better. My girls like oats for breakfast, I love the steel cut oats they take alot longer to cook and have a nutty texture, if you like regular oats & nuts you may like it too. Tastes good to mix them together.

MoniL - Friday, 8 Feb
IS THERE NOT ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO HELP OUR BODIES RELEASE THE FLUID RETENTION FROM THE SALT INTAKE? I SWELL BAD ALSO BUT ABSOLUTLY LOVE CHINESE. I HEARD OATMEAL HELPS- DO YOU KNOW??

luvbugkw - Friday, 8 Feb
how are you feeling? my back is starting to hurt a little, ive been walking everyday to try to keep from gaining to much but my little one is really doing a number on my back this wk. lol hope all is good with you.

levismom - Wednesday, 6 Feb
I am not exactly sure when i will go on disability. I only have short term, so they only allow 12 weeks pay at 60% of your salary. I would love to be able to at least have two-three weeks before he arrives, but who knows. I haven't discussed it yet... I hope you get out of the house soon...that would probably drive me nuts too!!

levismom - Tuesday, 5 Feb
Congrats on your baby girl!! I love the name Luke too!!! He's adorable! Do you have a name picked out for your girl? We are due around the same time. How are you feeling these days?

tleah70 - Tuesday, 5 Feb
YEAH!! That is great that you are off of bed rest. I can see where your husband would be a wee bit uncomfortable with it all. Just don't over-do it and I'm sure you will be just fine.

When you brush up, lol, let me know what worked best for you! We still haven't tried any of the suggestions. In all honesty, I think I lost my sex drive. More than likely because I'm not sleeping good.

Have you found a comfortable position to sleep in??

WaitingForMyLittleKitty - Monday, 4 Feb

So when do you go back to the DR???

MoniL - Saturday, 2 Feb
well that sounds like good news- congrats on your baby.
I got a kick out of your comment a few days ago concerning the advanced age topic LOL.. Ive got to admit this is the easiest pregnancy so far for me, Im 32. I feel so much more stable & secure- financially, mentally etc etc,.. How bout you??

mami.lovin - Friday, 1 Feb
and I have been on bed rest for the abruption... when I went to my dr appt tuesday he didn't say for sure that the placenta is over the cervix... the er dr in another city said that so my dr is calling to get the sono report and then he will decide and I will find out at my appt on monday... hopefully it will all just be betta...

mami.lovin - Friday, 1 Feb
I am having a boy... I was sending the comment on your page for you since you are having a girl...

tleah70 - Friday, 1 Feb
Again Bless your heart. It's amazing what the body does during pregancy. My sister in law had diabetes through her pregnancy, which was one of my concerns because I am on the heavier size (or like we like to call it 'Big Boned'). Well good luck to you.

Hey a few girls responded back about the 'positions' on my page if you want to read them. So far, I've tried them all...except the pillow thing. lol
