More.

I married my wonderful husband 2 years ago and he has no children, I have a 16 year old son from a previous marriage. We really wanted a child together so we tried for 9 months and finally conceived. I have lupus and arthritis in my lower back and with my age makes me high risk!

3-14-08

I went to the high risk doctor today and everything looks great we found out in our ultra sound its a boy! I really wanted a girl since I already have a boy but I will take what ever god gives me! Hopefully I can try for a girl but with my age and lupus its all in gods hands! I'm just so thankful that the baby looks healthy!!

5-30-08

I failed my glucose test, my sugar levels are so high that they are not even making me take the 3 hour test, instead they are putting me on medication to lower my sugar levels and I have to start checking my surgar levels everyday. They are sending me to a dietican to go over what foods I can and can't eat. I'm already high risk I really didn't need this to go along with everything else!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Wow! That's exciting. Thank you so much for your response!!

Hi Kathy24 - went to the doc today and she basically said it was nothing to worry about (of course, at this point it is almost not hurting at all - nothing like it did the first day). She said it might have been a clogged/blocked milk duct! Hope that is all it is for you and that it will clear up soon!

lacywalk - Monday, 7 July
The camping trip was GREAT! It was nice to get away and it was a beautifull park. The water was cool, so swimming made my body feel good during the day and the temp at night was in the mid to lower 60s. My house is not even that cool at night! I did go have accupunture done today to work out the little kinks from the trip but I do not regret going at all. My husband wanted to go to the coast in 2 weeks but I have talked him out of that. NO WAY! I do not want to look like a beached whale...and I do not think it would be as enjoyable. PLUS, I would be 35 weeks prego...thats just too close. Anyways, I have way too much to do before baby arrives, so these last weeks of pregnancy will be very important...time to nest. Hope all is well with you! Take care girl!

Hi Kathy
You are certainly being put through the paces with your little chap! I can't believe all the tests you have had to have done! Every time you write there has been something new. I haven't ever heard of a non stress test before. It sounds like something designed to make the mum to be stressed!! I think I would be going through all of those tests. You sound very chilled out about everything though, so well done! You seem to cope with things so well!!

The sports theme sounds perfect!! It must be nice to have everything ready for him.

We got on really well with our 'sorting out' jobs over the weekend. All the new furniture is installed in the girls bedroom and all of the contents are back in wardrobes etc as it should be. There is less junk in the spare room and the 3 pieces of furniture that were in Bethan and Kate's room have been transferred to the spare room, ready for the baby things to go into. We are going to decorate sometime next year and get new curtains, bedding, rugs etc, so for now the room has had a really good clean. It actually resembles a bedroom at last!!

I must admit despite feeling a bit tired after all of the work, it does feel really good to have got on so well, we didn't really expect to get so much done - and the house is beginning to look much better organised. I am trying to get as much done before the start of the school holidays in the hope that I can have 5-6 weeks of time with the girls at home without the stress of having to do too many large-scale jobs.

I hope it doesn't appear that I am stressing too much over preparations for this baby... afterall they don't actually 'need' all that much do they!! I think it is more to do with the fact that Kate starts school in September and I don't want too much to do last minute so that I have time to make sure she settles OK. Like you said though, even walking gets harder towards the end of pregnancy, so I must make the most of being able to move about a bit more freely!!

Only 4-5 weeks to go. That is no time now!! I will be so excited to hear about your little chap being born!!!
Take care, Valerie x

Cali Mama - Monday, 7 July
Hi - thanks for the reply. I have my regular Dr. appt. tomorrow so I will probably ask them then. It feels a little less sore today. I know what you mean about the worry though!

carriecouch - Monday, 7 July
I had a GREAT 4th! My in-laws came up and I couldn't have had a better 4th! My mother-in-law took me shopping and I got a couple new maternity tops. She also bought 3 onesies for the baby. One said, "Grandpa's little buddy" one said, "What happens at grandmas stays at grandmas" and the last one said "Daddy's little man" SUPER CUTE!!

I don't know what to think about the Avent bottles yet. But, at the time when I bought them I just thought there were 20 bottles in the bag at the garage sale and probably 50 or more nipples (with varying flows) for $10 or something like that. I couldn't buy 2 bottles for that!!! I know a LOT of people LOVE the Dr. Brown bottles. I think it's just your preference, and ultimately the baby will decide. I know one of my friends bought a WHOLE LOT of one kind of bottle, and her baby wouldn't drink out of them. The bottle had to have a specific nipple that only fit on another type of bottle. So she had wasted a LOT of money buying one specific type of bottle. Just see what works for you and your baby.

Hope you had a GREAT 4th!!! I would be packing a bag if I were you with the way things are going. I am not wishing an emergency C-section on you, but I'd prepare myself for whatever might happen. I know one of my friends had prepared herself for a drug-less, natural, vaginal birth and was completely devistated when the doctor told her that her baby was breach and they'd have to take her by c-section. Just prepare yourself to be OK with whatever they have to do to ensure your baby has a safe and healthy delivery. Good luck at your non-stress test and ultrasound!
**hugs**
Carrie

Hi Kathy,
I am very pleased to hear that you have had a better U/S this time. You must be very relieved! I hope that upir baby doesn't make too early an appearance though. It would be better if he stays put for a while longer!

I forgot to ask how your baby shower went? Did you have a good time and receive some lovely things for your little chap? It sounds as though you have got everything very well organised ready for his arrival. I wish I was a bit further along with buying things and getting everything sorted out. I am making good progress but there seems such a lot to do (mostly because our spare room has been used as a bit of a 'junk' room over the last few years and now it is needed - - eek!). We have also bought the girls some new bedroom furniture for their room as the wardrobes that they have been using are small ones that will be perfect for the baby, but a bit too short now for some of their dresses! We have spent the whole day today swapping furniture over and moving things around the house. Their bedroom looks really good now (although VERY pink!).

What is the bedroom like for your baby? I am guessing it isn't pink!!

Are you getting excited about meeting your baby now? It must be amazing seeing him so often at your scans. I have only had two scans so far through my whole pregnancy, and if we weren't planning on paying for a private one soon, then that would be it until the baby arrives!

I hope that you are having a good weekend. I have got another day of sorting out things in the house tomorrow! I am figuring it is best to get all of this done while I still can - I don't fancy re-organising bedrooms when I am 8 months pregnant!
Take care, Val x

Yeah luckly I go to a high risk or else I would prob never see my baby or know how much he weighs. I guess those reg docs do it some much everyday they do the min. I see girls on here who only get 3 u/s their whole pregnancy I would die!! Talk to youon tuesday and let you know how the doc went!

rkruegs - Saturday, 5 July
Sounds like you are doing everything right to have a healthy baby. Hang in there and your little one will be here before you know it.

lilcbabii - Friday, 4 July
Im pretty sure the high risk atleast wants me to keep him in until July 14th so we shall see! He should be fine and they are going to give me that shot for his lungs prob next time I go. I go to a reg baby doc and the high risk I really dont like the reg one. I asked her to check if I was dialted and she told me the machine would tell her everything... So then after I got my cervix checked I asked the tec if I was dialted and she said Ohh this machine doesnt tell you that!! I was so madddd I mean if Im effaced its only a matter of time before I start dialting and I would have liked to known. She also said the fireworks will make him jump so now Im nervous hes going to jump on my cervix and here he comes! Lol Happy 4th=)

lilcbabii - Wednesday, 2 July
I went to the doc today adn Im almost completly effaced but not dialted so she said it was most likely my babys head. He has been down for 4 months but I guess hes moving further south! Lol Hopefully we can keep him in until the 14th... He wil be 5 1/2 pounds by then

sparklyval - Tuesday, 1 July
Hi! How are you doing? I can't believe you are 32 weeks now! You are nearly there!! Sorry about your experience with the special ultrasound that you had to have done. I think that 3lbs 11oz sounds like quite a good weight for your number of weeks. I think I have read somewhere that babies put on most of their weight in the last month or so before they are born, so you will probably find that with your little man.
It must be lovely to have weekly scans, although I guess you are probably sick of having to attend medical appointments! I am looking forward to having a private 4D scan soon. I haven't booked a date yet, but probably will try and organise something in a couple of weeks time. The pictures from 4D scans look amazing. I think Bethan and Kate will enjoy the experience also.

I have made a start at getting some of the baby things out of the attic to start the process of sorting out what we have and what we may need to purchase. I came across the steriliser and bottles, sling, baby towels, sheets and bedding for the cot and the moses basket, plus all of the bags of clothes that we have kept from having my two girls. I spent quite some time on Sunday sorting through the various bags so that all of the baby clothes are now grouped according to age. I think we have plenty of 0-3 months things, but will probably need a few newborn items. I am going to start washing them ready to put away in some drawers. There still seems quite a lot of preparation to do before October though! Only 14 weeks or so to go, seems quite scary!!

Hope things are going OK.
Take Care
Valerie x

That is nice that you can have the ultrasounds every week. I only get two the whole time and I have already had both of those. We can't wait to see our little boy. I am very fortunate to have had a very easy pregnancy. I am still able to workout and do mostly everything I did before.
So is there anything that you have to do differently b/c of your lupus or do they just monitor you more closely? Well hang in there not too much longer for you.

carriecouch - Tuesday, 1 July
Sadly to say, we don't have a Kohls terribly close to us. I think Norman might have one, Norman is about 30 min. away. Moore is probably as close as Norman.

Yay for baby showers! I'm excited about baby showers when the time comes. I bet it will bring a lot of onesies, bibs, blankets, and diapers for me as well. I've already got a few onesies from different people. I found a trashbag FULL of Avent baby bottles with all the different sized nipples bagged seperately at a garage sale. I got the whole bag for $12!!!!!! I haven't lost a ton of money if the baby doesn't like those bottles. I'm going to get a breast pump, in case I get a teaching job for the fall cause I'll have to pump so the babysitter will have milk for the baby throughout the day. I've heard from SEVERAL people that the "Medela Pump In Style" breast pumps are AMAZING! They're expensive, but they're the last one you'll ever have to have.

A pregnancy massage sounds GREAT! You definately deserve it! I'm SO happy for you that you're almost there! I'm envious!

rkruegs - Monday, 30 June
I know it seems like we spent so much time registering and not that many people even bought off our registry. We did get a lot of nice things though. I also am having another shower in a month with neighbors and friends so we'll see how that goes. Hope you are having a good pregnancy!

lilcbabii - Monday, 30 June
Thanks mann they were like lightning! My son has been head down for 4 months now so Im used the pressure but these were crazy painful only for a few secs though Thanks for your help=)

carriecouch - Monday, 30 June
I'm doing GREAT! Our house is going up quickly! I'm SUPER excited! We'll be able to move into it with plenty of time left before the baby comes! We picked out the tile and the shingles this weekend! It's really surreal! Our little boy is a LOT of fun, he's been REALLY active lately and it makes me happy!

I'm hoping I don't swell too badly! When did your swelling start?

YAY for baby showers! I can't wait, I'm having 3 or 4 that I know of so far! It's been exciting already just registering for everything with my hubby! People are buying things for him like crazy! My husband's grandma called and told me she got him a little Reebok outfit yesterday. I have been shopping a lot recently because stores around here have had some great deals! I got a little 12 mo. Nike OSU outfit for him for $10, it came with booties, a bib, and a onesie! I also got him a 24 mo. old Nike OSU outfit that came with a onesie and a pair of orange and black Nike windsuit pants for $15! SUPER CUTE STUFF! Enjoy getting the final things bought and relaxing before your little man arrives! Keep in touch!

How's it going? Having a great weekend?

-Brandy- - Friday, 27 June
I go in the 7th for my test. I hate the taste of that crap too, lol

-Brandy- - Friday, 27 June
Hi!! I went in an hour after I ate and I was at 114, which she said was normal. I guess it's a good thing, but I was kinda hoping that it would be high so I knew what the heck was wrong with me.

chesterkatie - Friday, 27 June
The nurse said i was right on the border of just being diagnosed with GD and taking the 3hr test. Basically it was up to me and I opted to take the test... she said it really can go either way. Hey, at least my blood count for anemia was normal... 1 less thing to be concerned about right? What is real weird about this whole thing is that my random GT with my prenat's was very low, hypogly actually - and i was told to eat more - well that and i kept losing weight at the beginning.. doc didnt like that very much.
