More.

I married my wonderful husband 2 years ago and he has no children, I have a 16 year old son from a previous marriage. We really wanted a child together so we tried for 9 months and finally conceived. I have lupus and arthritis in my lower back and with my age makes me high risk!

3-14-08

I went to the high risk doctor today and everything looks great we found out in our ultra sound its a boy! I really wanted a girl since I already have a boy but I will take what ever god gives me! Hopefully I can try for a girl but with my age and lupus its all in gods hands! I'm just so thankful that the baby looks healthy!!

5-30-08

I failed my glucose test, my sugar levels are so high that they are not even making me take the 3 hour test, instead they are putting me on medication to lower my sugar levels and I have to start checking my surgar levels everyday. They are sending me to a dietican to go over what foods I can and can't eat. I'm already high risk I really didn't need this to go along with everything else!

How`s my pregnancy doing?

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Hey,

Just a little update on my end - went to the doctor yesterday. She said that I have a grade III placenta. She's not too concerned as my last ultrasound showed a perfectly healthy and growing baby.
She is taking precautions however, as I now have to go to the hospital once a week for a biophysical, and chances are that they'll induce me at 38-39 weeks. Personally, I hope they induce me as soon as the baby is viable as I hate the thought of the placenta tearing away from the uterine wall. But every time I have a bad thought, I do my best to replace it with a good one...like my placenta is still doing it's job, providing all the nutrients my baby needs

How are things going with you?

Hi Kathy
Thanks so much for your messages. Yes, the 3D scan was a fantastic experience and I am glad that we managed to find the money so that we could go. The girls enjoyed seeing the baby, but to be honest got bored about half way through the appointment. The baby wasn't lying in a great position so sometimes the view wasn't so good and I think the girls got fed up with the start/stopping of the ultrasound. However, it was a wonderful experience for Antony and I!!

How are you doing? You are well past 35 weeks now, so your baby must be being co-operative at the moment! I know you will be happy to get past the 36 week barrier. I hope that you have been feeling ok and that all your regular tests have been going well. It says on your profile that you only have 30 days until your due date, which is nothing!! It's amazing to think that you will be a mummy again before very long!

I hope you are OK. Drop me a line if you get the time.
Best wishes, Valerie x

I love the name Blake Ryan...sounds like a hockey player! I am sure your oldest will be a great big brother. As for you, just as I will, cherish your little miracle. As far as my Uncle, it is hard...I always tried to make sure he knew I loved him and enjoyed spending time with him whenever we got the chance to visit in Michigan. I know he will be watching from above and keeping us safe. So, how is your day going? I feel sooo tired lately and unmotivated. So many women are on a cleaning binge...I myself am on a lazy one; I really wish I fealt more motivated. It sort of freaks me out that our baby will be here in just weeks. I remember having such a difficult time with our daughter Bailey and not knowing how to deal w/ an infant. I had always been around toddlers and older. Now, I have the experience, I am just nervous. I question the whole breastfeeding thing, she only lasted 5 weeks due to cholic and me stressing out. I question my emotions...I had a bit of post partum last time. I just hope I am able to embrace each day and really enjoy it. How about you? Are you feeling any nervousness??

LilMamaC - Wednesday, 23 July
Hey~ Just came back from the Dr. My blood pressure was back at 116 and there was no protein in the urine. I'm allowed to go another week of working 4 hours a day but have to maintain my level of rest. I go back next Weds for my 1st pelvic exam where they check the dilation, efacement and position of baby. Gotta love good news!

I too am having a boy! We are naming him Michael Lee-Ray. My Uncle Mike was an amazing man whose life was robbed from him by severe schizophrenia. He was finally having a decent years in about 40 of them and died of the flu. It was tragic, so in honor of him our baby will be named Michael. Lee is our family's middle name and Ray was my husband's father's middle! I am sooo excited, but nervous...our daughter will be 7 and even w/ that gap I feel brand new! I hope both you and I make it to Aug. 1st. I have had lots of movement and pain this past couple of day's. Also, my parent's live in Las Vegas and are closing on a house and the movers will be there 7/31...so they are clear to make it on the 1st and thereafter! Sorry to hear about you having Lupus. I always donate to the Lupus foundation when they call me for a pick up. What a strong woman you are w/ the mix of not so fun hurdles. Your son will def. know his mom is amazing!

Kathy,
Love the reply; yes, life is crazy! I am sorry to hear about your complications! What all is going on? I often wonder if I am going to make it to the first as well! For your sake I hope you make it; just a little more time. Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl? I am sooo ready! Nights have become a bit difficult...bathroom, sore legs, major heart burn. I tell ya what, having my daughter at 27 was a lot easier. The shower was great! We had a "bring baby home w/ a Home Depot baby shower"...now we have the finances to get our daughter's/son's room revamped (sharing).I hope you have an awesome day~ (:

preciousjewels - Friday, 18 July
Good Morning! I am so emotional as well. I know life and coincidence or fate are hand in hand. Another odd thing, my husband, myself and our daughter all have August birthday's. Well, we have been trying for onother baby for over 3 years and then I finally gave up. I had prayed that if I ever got pregnant I would have another August baby. Low and behold, here we are. I found out 7 years to the week that I found out I was pregant with our daughter that I was pregnant with our son. We told our family right at Christmas time just as we did w/ Bailey. In fact the due date is on her birthday 8/26. Unfortunately, I had a long labor and Bailey was too big in the end so she came c-section. I really wanted a vbac w/ Michael, but the doctor told me this week that I am measuring a month ahead....so with lot of contimplation I secheduled a c-section for 8/22 (our daughter Bailey's original due date). Maybe I can talk the doctor into 8/16 my husband's fathers birthday (he passed away in 1996). I really do hope I go into labor earlier, strange but true it is something I will never experience again and I want that feeling just one more time. Well Kathy, I could blab all day...my house is a wreck and the baby shower is here tomorrow YIKES! My cold sore is aweful...but oh well, I guess us pregnant women can get away w/ it(: I just might call my doctor today though to get that cream...it is so painful and usually they never hurt. Have an awesome day (:

lulizzle - Friday, 18 July
I just went for the ultrasound yesterday and my lil man is weighing in at almost 6 pounds! And they thought he was small! Ha! I hope I go into labor soon...if I go full term Im going to have an 8 pound baby! And yes, my ob sent me for all these tests bc of the methadone. I just wish she would have been honest with me about it so I didn't worry so much. BUt everything looks good and he's healthy...I was soooo relieved! How are you doing with the lupus? My bf's mom has it and she has some days that are pretty bad. Is there any risk that it will somehow effect the baby? What are you on to control your pain? I hope all is going well!

crystalkm - Friday, 18 July
HI, I am also at the end of 34 weeks, so have they measured your baby? I am very nervous my baby is weighing in at 5lbs 9 ozs and we where only 33/6, this is making me very nervous, they just said we would cheat alittle and take her early, but I thought I was doing so well controling my sugars with my diet, but she still seems to be getting bigger than norm. She was in the 77 percentale. I was just curious to see what other babies around the same gestational age are weighing also! Thanks for responding! Happy Pregnancy!

sparklyval - Friday, 18 July
Hello Kathy, thank you for your messages. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. It has been such a busy week!

I bet it is a great relief to have got everything ready for the baby now. I am making good progress also, although I still have a bit more time to go, so I am not stressing (YET!)!!

Sorry to hear about your high blood pressure. I guess the medical staff are keeping a really close eye on you now as you have passed protein in your urine too. I will keep my fingers crossed that you can last out for a bit longer before having your baby.

Are you able to get plenty of rest? It is probably best not to do too much at the moment. Are you feeling excited that you will be meeting your baby very soon?

I have finally booked an appointment for the private 3/4d scan. We are going on Sunday at 1pm. It will be great for my two girls to see the baby....we are all looking forward to it.

It has been a good day here. I have just been for a nice lunch with my husband as it is my birthday today (I am 37 - eek! Getting closer to 40!!) and it is also my Wedding Anniversary. I got married to Antony 16 years ago today. As we both work at the University we could meet up for lunch easily - so we went to a nice restaurant for lunch without the children. It was very relaxing! The only downside is that I have to work today....only a couple more hours to go until I can go home!!

I hope that things are OK with you. I will try and add some images once we have had the scan done on Sunday. Take care and get plenty of rest. Have a great weekend
Love Valerie xx

LilMamaC - Friday, 18 July
That must have been just nerve racking! I did have a pretty good day- went out to lunch with my mom and some of her friends, floated in the pool, watched The Holiday and had dinner... I think i could get used to having to rest. I'll let you know how i do on Tuesday afternoon. Do you have to watch out for anything new/on more rest/ or can you function as if all is ok?

tdotali - Thursday, 17 July
I totally understand wanting the baby to room with you. I really want the same thing:)
I'm also really hoping for a vaginal delivery, I'd really like to avoid a c-section. Prior to getting pregnant I worked out frequently. I miss running and my aerobics classes and I was really hoping to get back into them as soon as possible, but a c-section would definitely delay that! I soooo want to talk to my doctor, it's very frustrating.
Pregnancy certainly teaches you two things..1)Patience and 2)going with the flow!!!

Everything will be fine, I know it!! We'll soon have out boys in our arms

tdotali - Thursday, 17 July
I'm not on bedrest as I haven't seen my doctor since my ultrasounds. Ironically, I had an ultrasound done at 31 weeks to check for a dilated kidney (which is now normal) and the ultrasound clinic requested that I come back...which I did on Tuesday where there proceeded to tell me the reasoning behind why they asked me to come back...aging placenta.
So now, as I mentioned before, I have to wait until next Wednesday to talk to my OB/GYN to get any answers. Would I be considered high risk now? I wasn't before...fortunately I have very good health, I don't smoke; so I have no idea why my placenta isn't co-operating.. From what I've read, I'll probably be induced at 37-38 weeks, which under these circumstances I understand...in fact, depending on what my OB/GYN says, I might even push for it.
Right now I know that my little man is fine, as he still moves frequently!!! Thank God!!

I hope that you and your little one can hold on as long as possible, but if you guys can't, 99% of babies born at this time are perfectly healthy Let me know how your app't goes on Monday and I'll let you know about mine.
We must try to relax, and not stress out:) I believe that our babies can feel our emotions, so we need to be as positive as possible.

TTYL!!

preciousjewels - Thursday, 17 July
Thanks for your help! What timing I have. I sort of laugh. My husband and I went on our first date 7/19/05 and I have a huge fever blister from the sun on that date. Well, our baby shower is now the exact same date 13 years later and I have a fever blister from the sun in the exact same spot~ Talk about silly!
Thanks Again (:

LilMamaC - Thursday, 17 July
Good job! Keep up the good work! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow- hope you have more great news!

tdotali - Thursday, 17 July
Thanks so much for getting back to me. It is a scary thing. I have definitely had my moments of panic too, but it seems like your doctors are keeping a close eye on you and your baby
Is your doctor going to induce you if you reach a certain point? How many weeks 'older' is your placenta than your baby?
At 31 weeks mine was more like a 35-36 week placenta. I don't know if the aging continues at a regular pace but if it does that would mean it's at 38 weeks now, which means I have at least 2-4 more weeks to go before it breaks down. That means that he could easily make it to term! That's my logic that's keeping me sane.
It's an awful thought that our placentas could give way, that's why we need to think as positively as possible.
Please keep me up to date with what's happening with you and your baby. Please tell me what your doctor's say as I'm not seeing mine for another week

We'll be in New Orleans from Friday through next Wednesday! I am really excited to get my husband all to myself. The only vacations we've gotten recently have been to see his parents, which means I have to share him the whole time. Here I have to share him with work. I guess when we're in New Orleans I'll have to share him too, because he'll be in conferences most of the time. Oh well...I'll go baby shopping hopefully while he's in conferences. It should be fun. Last trip before the baby arrives!

Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy! At least 36 wks. isn't THAT far off. Keep in touch!

LilMamaC - Wednesday, 16 July
Let me know how today and tomorrow goes. Hoping you can make it to August 1st- that will give me hope too!

LilMamaC - Wednesday, 16 July
I'm nervous now! Ha! I feel fine overall... I have had swelling in my legs and ankles the last few months and the ankles, even when they aren't swollen feel, like they have been bruised at the touch. I did have stars in my vision this morning in the shower... But I've had stars in my vision from time to time even when i wasn't preggy. I'm praying that we can wait out delivery until Aug 1st- that's when my new/better insurance kicks in. It looks to be standard that once you 1st start showing signs of preeclampia, that they have you deliver within 2 weeks. Crazy to think that our baby can be here soooo soon! Thanks for the tips on what to look out for. Looks like I'll pack my over night bag in the car for my next Dr appt just incase they make me check into L&D. How are you doing with bed rest? I had my 1st half day yesterday and couldn't believe that i was laying on the couch from 1:30-5pm- there are so many things i wan't/could be doing!

carriecouch - Wednesday, 16 July
I'm FANTASTIC!!! Our house is getting done! They will probably be done shingling tomorrow! SUPER AWESOME!!!!! It's SO exciting! They installed the windows and doors!! The air conditioning and heating will be in tomorrow; as well as the home entertainment center! I can't believe how FAST it's going up and getting done!!

We're going to New Orleans on Friday! I can't wait!

I had federal jury duty yesterday! I was a juror on the first trial of the day, and the trial started at 10am and was over by 5pm!!!! I can't believe how quick it went! They told us if we didn't serve on a trial yesterday we were on call until August 8th!!! Which means I couldn't have gone with my husband on our New Orleans trip! I'm SO glad it's done and over with!!!!

I can't believe your little one is almost here! It sucks that you little one's going to have to come so quickly because of your health! I hope my health stays how it is now! I am feeling VERY fortunate!!!

Keep me posted! Good luck!

lulizzle - Tuesday, 15 July
Why are you considered high risk? Has everything shown up ok? They are concerned for me cus baby is measuring a little small.

sparklyval - Friday, 11 July
Hello!
Thank you for your message. I can completely understand that you must be ready to have your baby with all the testing you have to keep going for! At least there are not too many weeks left to go for you now! Keep smiling!! I hope your blood pressure is back to normal. I am sure it must be the stress of all the tests!

I have been continuing with the preparations for the arrival of the little bundle in October. The weekend was very satisfying as I finally have somewhere to start to collect the baby things together. I have now washed all the newborn baby clothes and they are put away in the drawers. I even bought a pack of nappies today! I have made a list of things that I need to buy over the next couple of months - there are not too many things, nothing major, but as my memory isn't so great at the moment, the list will be a help!!

I survived an (almost) major disaster a couple of days ago when I nearly set fire to our kitchen!! I left a pan of pasta cooking for a few minutes and when I returned I was shocked to see fairly big flames!! I panicked and threw a jug of water over them, which calmed it down, but didn't quite put out the small fire, so then I covered it in a wet towel. The fire had been caused by the plastic handle of a utensil melting as it was too close to the heat. It must have got so hot it caught alight. Thankfully there is no real damage done, other than having a lot of clearing up to do from the melted plastic, water etc - but it was a big shock and quite scary at the time! It just goes to show how easy it is for these things to happen as I was only away from the cooker for a few minutes!!

I have only got 2 weeks left at work now. I am really looking forward to finishing. Things have been quite busy at work as well as at home, so it will be good to have a little less pressure on my time.

I hope you are OK
Valerie x
