a not so brief synopsis of project baby:

i found out i was pregnant on july 3rd 2007. i had been on the patch for as long as i can remember and last year in august i took it off for good! my cycle had not returned for just about a year when i started feeling crampy and figured it was my body finally getting back to normal, hormonaly speaking. i went in to an ob just to give them the low down on my frustrating year without aunt flow and to see if everything was ok. i was also feeling very very tired for a few weeks prior, as well as achy boobs, hmmm. the first thing of course at the dr.s office was the urine test and the nurse said it was negative and then the lab girl grabbed her in the hall and did some whispering and the nurse returned with "actually, it's positive. you are definitely pregnant." soooo, i got one of those happy shock and awe waves and wanted to celebrate with everyone, although knowing i have to keep mum for a while. so i had a big little secret for about an hour while i went to trader joe's for the 4th of july bbq ingredients and then on to the grocery store for a two pack e.p.t. geoffrey, my darling, was in the city working and he couldn't get away for a while but i told him anyway over the phone and of course he was totally jazzed. floodgates opened. i was 6 weeks pregnant.

9/24/07- 18 weeks

i asked nicely for an ultrasound on today and i got it. there is actually a baby in there! it was pretty active doing the hand jive at times and rolling around. it looked perfectly formed with surprisingly long legs, and the dr. was very impressed with the look of it's spine, you could see each little vertebrae. the pictures aren't as clear as the live feed and besides his machine is old, they do however show it leaning to the right, head on top and the bottoms of the feet are together doing a yoga stretch, the hands are up by its head in both of the pics. i'm still scheduled for oct. 11th for the big ultrasound at the hospital that should tell all...
