This is our first baby and we're SO excited! We got pregnant after 2 months of trying, and I know that it usually takes longer, but I was so impatient that when we didn't get pregnant the first month, I wanted to go to the Dr for testing! Lol. I had no symptoms until the day I took the pg test & got a + ... and I only needed one test to convince me! ... After that my bbs started getting sore and I got a little crampy. I've had very little m/s, luckily. However, there has been a decent amount of spotting over the last few weeks. At our 1st ultrasound, though (7 wks,) the tech said we have an excellent heartbeat (131 bpm) and everything looked good. We're taking it day-by-day and hoping everything stays healthy-- I'm feeling optimistic. We have our 2nd u/s on 2/18, and I can't wait to see more detail!
This will be the first grandbaby for both sides of the family, so I think it will not have a lack of attention. Both of our familys will be living nearby so we'll have plenty of helping hands!
So as of today, 2/4/08, we're 8 wks, 5 days.
Congrats to all the other parents-to-be on the site!

Well, we had another u/s yesterday and -- Oh My Gosh! Our bean is not a bean anymore! It was bouncing up and down flapping it's arms like a little birdie! Lol! That was so amazing! It`s heartrate is 180 bpm now. We have pics of it's little feet and it's face! I'll try to get them posted here today. The nurse said she thinks it could be a boy, but it's way too early to paint the room blue. ;-) I've had it in my head that our "bean" was a girl this whole time, but ever since a dream I had of a little blond baby boy a couple weeks ago, I've wondered... it will be interesting to find out in a couple months! Even though I've been wishing for a girl ever since my parents never gave me a sister, I'll be so excited if it's a boy!

Oh, BTW, my spotting stopped a few days ago-- I think it's gone for good this time. I had asked my Dr to do a progesterone test with my bloodwork at my last visit. The levels came back at 15, which is on the low side of normal. I think that is what was causing the spotting. I think now the placenta has taken over making the progesterone and we're good to go! We're taking a trip up to Portland to see Grandma and Grandpa tomorrow. I'm sure they'll love to see the pics! ...

Hmmm... I should probably post more often so I'm not cramming so much into one! This is looking busy!

Sunday, 2 Mar

Well, we got back from my inlaws' up in Portland this week. They'll be moving down here in a few months so we were helping them pack and clean a bit. Wes' mom had a beautifil dresser made by her great great grandfather-- it was just sitting in the garage, and she asked if we wanted it! It will be perfect for the baby and will be a wonderful family heirloom, so of course I said yes! We've already had almost all the furniture loaned or donated to us, plus my mother can't stop buying baby clothes, so I don't even know if we'll need a baby shower (not that that will stop me from having one!)

We go in for another u/s on Monday-- I always like those. We'll see if the Dr still thinks it looks like a boy.

So, I'm finally starting to show a little at 12.5 weeks. Mom and I went and bought maternity clothes yesterday. That was fun because they have this little faux belly to wear when trying things on! Surprisingly, not all of it looks like maternity-- got a pair of pants that fit already!

Well, I'm hungry again, so I'm off to scrounge up something tasty. I hope everyone who has been so nice to comment on my page is doing well and feeling great. I'll check in soon!

Wednesday, 5 Mar
Our latest u/s went really well. Everything looks normal: Baby has a brain (thank god!) a stomach, bladder, heart, fingers and toes, and what still looks like a penis! He's 2.5 inches now, too! And still dancing all over the place. Now we just have to wait another 6 weeks to find out if he's really a boy... can't wait!

Wednesday, 5 Mar
I'm feeling creative with my text and background colors. Let me know if they're too obnoxious please!

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Sx

Hey, thanks so much for your comment and advice. Beleive it or not I am not TOTALLY stressing out, this is actually a lot better of a situation then I have been in for a long time although far from ideal, we're getting there... As for my Landlord THe rent is cheap but not cheap enough for me to excuse her pigginess. Also I don't know if the Welfare office could really do anything because she is on Disability through the state and is not supposed to be getting any extra income... and is renting out 'privately' so if the state was to find out she would get a chunk taken out of her disability check. And for Sam we talked about the dilema and we are going to make an appointment with my caseworker (if she could ever find it in herself to call me back an do her job). Those are the two things that I can get irate about 1. the landlord 2. the caseworker..... well, ABout you, Welcome into the second tri-mester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you've made it through the 'risky' part and the uncomfotable part for a while at least... hopefully u didn't have bad morning sickness previously, but if so it should clear up in a few weeks... next come the cravings, though you won't be starving so much anymore.... Please keep in touch.. so, do u want a girl or boy????

Thank you for checking up on me.
Well! It's truely amasing what can happen in a week! I haven't received the cream yet (it's enroute) but I have seen a new Dr. She's here in Canberra and USED to be IVF but left that. She was expencive BUT the appointment was very long and conprehsible and BOY does she give you the full work up! My Ob couldn't help me and said that progeterone was ONLY available if you were ON IVF program( which is COMPLETELY OUT OF THE QUESTION FOR US). And he felt that it was only 3% effective in people like me and 18-20% effective for those that had never had children. He then refured me to this lady Dr ( fertility specialist) in hopes that she may know something that he doesn't. WELL that's the trueth! I don't feel baddly towards my Ob because, as he said , this isn't his specialty. And he was speaking of the synthetic progesterone in tablet form. My lady Dr wrote a perscription for the suppositories NATURAL Progesterone immediately and said to get them now and keep them in the fridge and start taking them IMMEDIATELY once we fall pregnant( she has no doubt about our fertility, which is clearly not our prob' :-). And said that even thought the 'rules' are that I have to be on IVF, she's thinking that the pharmacy that these are available from, may not question it, as they were used to seeing her name before. The pharmacy that they are available from is in SYDNEY, so I was going to go up and get them (4 hours away)( you do what you have to right?) and so I rang them to get there opening hours and told them that I'd come up and they told me not to bother because THEY WILL SEND IT TO ME!!!!!! How GREAT is that? All I had to do is fax them my script! But by golly they are expensive! $5 each!!! So they will arrive on tuesday. I'm also going for a SQUILLIAN tests. I'm rather jittered by this thought as I don't fair well with needles but again, you do what you have to. Well now that I've filled your page up. I should go but NOT BEFORE SAYING 'HOW WONDERFUL that the spotting stopped for you and that the ultra sounds went well!' I like the background. I had the same for alittle while but I was having trouble adding 'sparlkys' without it being WAY too busy. Well 'till next time. Happy trails and keep well!

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion. I think I am going to have her over for dinner and tell her. I still want to do something special for her like a reading, or design and handout the programs for the wedding (I am good at that stuff!). I have been told be several people that have been pregnant before that the last few weeks are VERY uncomfortable. Thanks again for the feedback.

I love your u/s! The funny thing is it looks just like mine! lol They are so darn cute! Good Luck with everything!

So how are you feeling?

lisauk - Tuesday, 4 Mar
hey i will try get on here tomorrow to have a chat hope you are ok

Vikki - Thursday, 28 Feb
Thank you soooooo very much for that information. I'll have a look. I too have done tonnes of resurch but as things are harder to get here I haven't been able to as yet get anything over the counter, I started to look for the just in case and then when I got the positive test I too insisted on being tested and wanted the progesterone. But I couldn't get the appointment for the Dr till 3 days latter after the test and it was too late by then. I too figuer that the 'risk' is minimal compared with loosing a healthy child. In previous losses, when we have scaned prior to loosing, the babies have been healthy. It's heart breaking when you know that It's your own body mucking up. Well I'll have another look around on the net. :-) Keep well.

SURE ILL LET YOU KNOW I HOPE ITS A BOY.

Vikki - Thursday, 28 Feb
I just re erad what you said to me and realised that you got the cream over the counter and not online. So I was wondering what it was called so I can look for it on line specificaly. Thanks :-)

Vikki - Thursday, 28 Feb
So you've had a scan since the bleed stopping and everything is alright? Well I see by what you've said on your page that that is the case. I too agree with people not self perscribing but if a simple use of cream can help, truely what worse can happen? Thank you so much for the hint. Where did you get your cream from, which online link did you go to? By the way ( just to cover bases) I realise that your telling me what you did and in no way TELLING me what I should do. I apreciate causion.:-) Thanks again. I'll keep in touch and see how you're doing. :-)Vikki

Thank you so much for checking on me...yes the spotting has stopped for a couple of weeks now...so i am very happy about that...i went for an ultrasound yesterday but the tech was horrible he laid my bed all the way down so i was not able to see the screen (so i was not able to see my baby this time) he was also a lil rude...I did not even get to hear the babies heartbeat...I asked the tech how come i did not hear my babies heartbeat and he was like oh its like 160 something bpm your doctor will explain the results...i got really worked up and gave him a piece of my mind...I don’t think he realized how important it was to me to hear my babies heartbeat...but im better today i will call my doc 2morrow to get the results...how are you doing?
