pregnancy week by week

Recent pics of Alexis and I :) Photo of daddy and Alexis below too :) One of these days I'll get someone to take a family photo of us together! :)

Welcome to my page. I am 30 years old am expecting my second baby next April and we are very excited! Morning sickness has been terrible with this pregnancy, but it is gradually gettting better. We are going to find out at the 20 week ultrasound what we are having. My husband is hoping for a son so he isn't outnumbered in our house full of women :) Doesn't matter either way to me! I look forward to getting to know all of you. Happy and Healthy pregnancy to all of you!

November 9th update: Went for our 3D ultrasound today and found out we are having a little boy! We are so excited. We now will have a little girl and a little boy. My husband and I are so excited and our little girl can't wait to help take care of him and feed him bottles :)

December 10 update: Went for our big ultrasound. Everything looked good and this little guy is growing perfectly! We are so excited!

December 29 update: I will be 24 weeks on Wednesday. I am so excited despite feeling like I am carrying around a bowling ball with me all of the time! Heartburn is SEVERE, what would I do without zantac? :) This little guy is moving around like crazy. My cravings are black cherry fresca, cherries and root beer right now. None of them especially healthy! Alexis is getting excited about her brother and we are gradually getting the nursery ready. It is so much fun to be doing everything in blue! We've decided on a name...BRODY, just have to figure out a middle name now!

Feb 6 update: I'm 29 weeks today. I guess this is the homestretch although 11 weeks feel like an enternity away! I am so ready to have this baby and get my old body back. I can't say I enjoy being pregnant although I am sure I will miss him kicking inside of me once he is born. My cravings at the moment are yogurt and diet orange soda :) I had some tightening in my stomache at 27 weeks but haven't had it again. I went for my 3D ultrasound and they said he is going to be a big baby. At 28 weeks, he was already weighing 3.5lbs. I can't wait to see who he looks like. The ultrasound was hard to tell, but he definitely has my hubby's thin lips. His room is almost finished and my baby shower is on March 1st. I am excited!

Feb 20 update: I'm 31 weeks today. Heartburn is SO severe right now its really limiting what I can eat. I am eating very small amounts and last night just skipped dinner entirely due to the fear of the heartburn it would case. I've gained 25lbs so far, so I'm sure me cutting back isn't the end of the world! Had lots of tightening in my stomache again yesterday and my heart rate was high...116. I am trying to just take it easy, but so much easier said than done with my nightmare schedule! If I have this baby at 38 weeks like I did my daughter, that means I've got 7 weeks left. I know it doesn't sound like far away, but it seems like this pregnancy is lasting forever. I think I'm just overwhelmed and tired and ready for the break from working and being pregnant. I know a newborn is lots of work from past experience, but at least I'll have my normal energy level back then. I've been reading 'Big Sister' books to Alexis and she is so excited about her baby brother's arrival. His room is now finished. At some stage I'll post photos, I'm just too lazy to download right now! Hopefully by the next time I update, I will be close to delivery! WOO WOO!

March 21 update: 35 weeks, 2 days today. I guess I can finally say this is the home stretch, although the time seems to be dragging by! Everything is ready for Brody's arrival now. His room is complete, I had my shower on March 1, all of his little clothes have been washed in Dreft, we just need him here now! I can't wait to hold him in my arms and to get to know his little personality :) I've had a lot of BH contractions with this pregnancy, whereas with Alexis, I never had a single BH. I guess what they say about subsequent pregnancies and more contractions ahead of time is true. He is sitting up high so I've had a lot of feet in my ribs lately as well, at least I hope they are his feet and not his arms! I go next week for my group B strep test and they will also check to make sure he is head down. I am drinking raspberry tea to try to get this show on the road. Working full time and having a child at home already to take care of is really taking its toll on me. I am hoping this little guy makes his appearance a few weeks early so that I can finally get a break from my long days and commute. I know I will be tired with a new baby here, but at least that will be a good tired as opposed to being tired from work. Well I am not sure if I will post again before delivery, we shall see. Here's hoping I have this little guy soon!

March 26 update (36 week check up): I am 1cm dialated and 50% effaced. Baby is in -3 station.

April 2 update (37 week check up): I am 2cm dialated and 70% effaced. Baby is now in -2 station.

April 8: False alarm this afternoon. BH contractions every 3 mins for an hour. I thought today was the day, but they seem to have tapered off for now. 38 weeks tomorrow.

April 11: Started to lose my mucous plug today. Funny to be excited over something so gross, but at least it means progress! :)

April 14 update (39 week check up):

Ok, so I'm not technically 39 weeks until Wednesday but my appts are every Monday. Today I found out that I am almost 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced, baby is in -2 station. I was happy to hear that I've made some progress, although not much. Doc offered to strip my membranes and I eagerly accepted! Last time with my daugther, my water broke 2 days after having this done, so it gives me some hope. I was pleased to hear that my doc only thinks the baby weighs around 8 lbs, which I can handle. I was thinking this kid was going to be 10 lbs with the way I feel and look! Well that is my update. I continue to truck on and hope this little guy comes soon. Getting a little scared about the pain of childbirth. Although I've been through it before and don't remember it being as awful as some people say, I am still scared. Caught the tail end of that show "A Baby Story" and saw some woman screaming her head off and it freaked me out. Hopefully I can get my epidural pretty quickly and all will go well. If it was so bad last time, I wouldn't be here preggo again, so I must remember that!

My Birth Story!

Brody Ryan arrived on Tuesday 15 April at 5:32am. Shortly after writing the entry above (around 10:30pm on the 14th), I began having contractions. At first I wasn't so sure it was contractions, just cramping and I thought it might have been from the membrane stripping procedure that I had done at the doctor's office that day. I didn't want to jump the gun and was so used to false alarms that I tried to just take a bath and chill out to see if it would go away. I took a bath and layed down, but they continued on and started to hurt. I timed them and they were 3-4 minutes apart. I called the doc and headed to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital I was checked and they said I was 5cm dialated! I was so excited as I knew this meant I could get the epidural :) I was admitted and given a L&D room. Shortly after getting settled into my room, they hooked up my IV and epidural. At first it worked wonders and I didn't feel anything, but when I got to about 8cm, all of a sudden the pain started coming back. For some reason it just stopped working. They added some more medicene to it, but instead of it taking the pain away, it made me feel really really weird. I kept saying it didn't work, but they acted like there was nothing else they could do. I got to 10cm and was feeling everything by this point. I pushed for 7 minutes and Brody was born. Bad tear and I now have a crochet project of stitches down there. OUCH!!!!And my doctor was wrong and I was right all along, he weighed in at 9lbs 6oz, I knew he was a big baby! He is such a sweet little guy and we are loving every minute of this newborn stage. He had to go to the special care nursery for a few hours because he was grunting despite a perfect APGAR score originally, but the grunting resolved itself and he was soon in my room. Despite the pain I felt at the end thanks to the faulty epidural, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I look at him now and he was worth every horrible pregnancy symptom and complaint that I put up with along the way. I am in awe that I made this little guy in my tummy. My family is perfect now. I have my awesome little girl and now I have this wonderful little boy. We feel very blessed and are excited about raising them and watching them grow. I only wish they would stay little forever. That's my birth story :)

Really? I am def going to talk to the pediatrician about the carnation goodstart b/c yes he is still on the nutramigen and yes we are going broke paying for it! I am sooo scared to switch though (I dont want him to be in pain like before). How old is Brody now? Maybe I will wait until Travis is the same age as Brody is now to switch him (just to make sure his belly is mature enough). We are going to buy the swaddling blanket too (thanks for the tip) although Travis slept for five whole hours last night before waking up to eat HOORAY!!!

jen8282 - Friday, 13 June

jen8282 - Monday, 9 June
Isnt it crazy--the whole list of things to do to get the baby to sleep! We totally have a routine too! So I dont want to jinx myself but, Travis seems to be doing a lot better!! Last night he slept from 1:30 am to 6:30 am and after his 6:30 feeding he slept till 9 am so Beau and I actually got some sleep. My sister has been staying with us too so that she can take the 12-3am shift which is sooo helpful! I hope that Brody is getting better too! We are getting closer to the no colic age, we just have to keep our sanity a little longer!!

crazyno5 - Friday, 6 June
Hi feels like forever that I have spoken to you the days just seem to roll into one these days. Sam is now 6 weeks old but feels like I have been getting up at night to breastfeed forever. We don't have our checkup till next week but all seems to be going well. Sam is getting chunky thighs and seems to be gaining heaps of weight I will let you know how it all goes. I have tried him on the Bottle for a night feed but he seems not to be interested I am lucky if he drinks 40ml so he seems to be a Boob man. I still have no regular routine can change at any given moment. But he is consistent with the 9.30pm till 2.am sleep has a boob at 2.am then goes till anywhere between 5a.m and 6.am after that I have to stay awake as usually the other Kids are getting up. So still feeling tired thank god for coffee otherwise I couldn't cope. I am with you on the cleaning thing never seems to end. Don't worry about the sex thing it can be quite normal to bleed a little afterwards it should get better after a few goes. Its hard though cause I know most of the time I would rather be sleeping but I also have given in it was ok and I didn't feel any pain I like to do it before the checkup so if there was anything wrong I can talk to the Doc about it. So I guess I have to make a Decision about Birthcontrol what have you decided on if you don't mind me asking? Glad Brody is doing well. How about you are you doingok? I keep getting run down I am on my second lot of Antibiotics and now have a coldsore as well. Yuck. But am loving Sam to bits and so happy with him. Next week I will try to post more pictures so have to go take care and I hope to hear from you soon.

jen8282 - Thursday, 5 June
Thats terrible that the nurse is always worrying you. I would just plan on not really taking any info from her very seriously at this point. Not very considerate since she know you are already having a hard time. I dont think that you can overdose on the colic ease since it is just herbs, I would just watch him and make sure he seems okay. Let me know if it works for you. It is so funny how some things work for certain babies. it does seem that the formula is helping some but, of course we are still having our bad days, with lots of gas and lots of screaming. Its terrible to say but, I cant wait for him to not be a newborn. It is nice to hear that your mom has so much support, I know it is very hard for you right now, I hope things start to get a little easier for you. I will check into that blanket, I have been swaddling him at noght but have never gotten five hours out of him. Everyone keeps telling me to put some rice ceareal in his bottle but, I did once and it constipated him so bad and now that we are having so many problems as far as gas and formula, I dont want to add anything to it! You are right- It never ends!!

mza - Tuesday, 3 June
Hi you, Glad your mum doin ok, Glad you all feeling positive about it.
The house really is disgusting - we have programme over here HOW CLEAN IS YOUR HOUSE. i know they made a US version - did you see it? Thats how bad this house is. YUCK!
Every floorboard will be sanded back and walls and ceiling plastered, new kitchen and bathroom and then i'll be happy to move in. Doors skirtings and colour on walls will have to get done one at a time. Going to concentrate on girls room and try get it done before we move in. They'll just share and have a toy room. We'll really need to get stuck in coz want carpets and flooring down asap. In between organising wedding and house stuff my head buzzing!
much luv xxxxxxxxx

jen8282 - Sunday, 1 June
Well we just switched him to the Nutramigen but, of course no results yet. Travis weighed in at 10 lbs. 8.5 oz.I cant believe how big he is getting so quickly! The doc says he is gaining above average but, I swear I am not doing anything to make him such a chunker LOL. So we are at a new pattern of screaming every morning at 8 am LORD when is his going to get better? I am telling you-as horrible as this may sound-this is all the birth control my husband and I need. We will def not be doing this again for a looooooong time. In fact we arent even at the point where we can get it on and we have already invested in condoms LOL (sadly)!

mza - Friday, 30 May
Hi, how's things? You're mum doin ok?? Whats first with the treatment? You're in my prayers hun - i'm so sure she's going to come thru this.
How's Brody and Alexis? oh and Mike of course? We're all good - found a house so i'm hyper - got it renovated in my head already. Won't be able to move in straight away coz it needs everything doing! but great house in good area and 6 doors from my best friend! YAY wine nights here we come haha!
Anyway lots of love to you all xxxxxxxxxx

crazyno5 - Friday, 30 May
Hi glad to hear from you thanks for the well wishes I am feeling better. Good to know Brody is doing well. How is the feeding sessions going are we still struggling with getting Brody to latch on or are you still expressing? Sam is doing well on the Boob but gets really cranky at night I have to give him 1 Bottle at about 8 or 9 at night otherwise he screams the place down as that time of night I don't seem to be able to satisfy him. He then has the Boob at about 2.am and 6am and so forth all in all I don't think we are doing to bad. I love seeing him smile and goo makes it all worth while. The routine thing is still hard work but he is staying awake longer during the day and then having a couple of good sleeps so I feel like I get some things done but the days are just rolling into one and going so fast its amazing talk about busy I hardly ever get time to think about myself I am lucky to get dressed and eat so I look awfull mind you other people say I look great but I don't believe them. Anyway Sam has woken up better go. Take good care of yourself and we will talk soon.

jen8282 - Thursday, 29 May
I get the colic ease from the doctors office, its 18.00$ a bottle there and online I think its 20.45 so not much difference. the website is http://www.colicease.com/index.html
I have Travis on the gentle-ease but, I think we are going to switch to the Nutramigen and see if it helps b/c al though the colicease helps he still seems fussy. I am so tired of hearing him cry, I feel like he is never happy and it kills me to think that he just hates it here! I am at a loss at this point about what else to do if the formula switch does not work!! I am taking him to the doc today b/c now I think he has a clogged tear duct. I swear I cant catch a break!
I am glad to hear that your mom seems to be doing fine. I will keep her in my prayers.
Travis weighed 9lbs. 12oz. at almost 3 weeks and they will weigh him again today so we will see! Brody is about 6 weeks now? Is that right? I am sure travis will be up there in wieght too at that point since they are saying he is already gaining above average. But what can I do, all he wants to do is eat! Is Brody sleeping at night. I swear Travis barely ever sleeps!

crazyno5 - Wednesday, 28 May
So very sorry to hear the news of your'e Mum my thoughts are with you at this difficult time and I wish you all the best and hope and wish that things work out ok. Sorry I haven't been in contact but I got that damm Tonsalitis back and have been sick as a dog and have had to keep feeding sam every couple of hours but I couldn't keep anything down things are slowly improving and Sam is settling again a little better still getting up a couple of times during the night. Being sick isin't good but its nothing compared to what your'e family is facing I am so very Heartbroken for you. I hope you are looking after yourself because you will need your'e strength now. I will talk to you soon please keep battling on and feel free to talk to me about anything youy are feeling.

jen8282 - Tuesday, 27 May
Hey there!
Well the gripe water was just not working so we picked up some "Colic Ease" from our doc and it is working much better!! Expensive but Id pay anything to make him feel better! Glad to hear that Brody is doing well and dont feel down about your milk. Remember unlike some wil tell you, formula is NOT poison! How is your mom doing? Hope all is well with your family! It would be so great to meet up for sushi and margaritas or just be closer for the support. Life sure is a lot harder with a newborn, never thought it would be sooooo different LOL
TTYS
