Above is a picture of us on our wedding day, 1st October 2005. It was the most magical day ever for us both, we really had an absolute ball!

On our honeymoon in Hawaii (Maui tour) October 2005. We flew all that way just to have 2 nights on Maui and 5 nights in Hawaii (that's all the budget would allow) and it was more than worth it. What gorgeous people and such an amazing place. We were very lucky to experience it.

Here with our first "little addition to the family" (who is not so little anymore being a loveable rhodesian ridgeback called "Zari"). We are already thinking about how to introduce our new "little one" to the family without noses being pushed out of joint...any suggestions?

Our Story so far....

Cameron and I met and became "an item" on the 9th of September 2001. My life changed forever after we met, I never thought I'd find a guy with the perfect mix, or that special "spark" that just happens and is so hard to find. Then enter Cameron and now I feel the luckiest girl alive. He is one gift I am always grateful and the connection we have. Cameron is originally from Melbourne, other side of Australia (for those who don't know about Aust.), and grew up in a country town called Sea Lake. So whatever it was that drew him to Perth I'm forever thankful and now we have some great friends in Melbourne that we can go and visit, I absolutely love it there. Four years later and we were married on the 1st of October 2005. Which so far is the most amazing and wonderful day of our lives...I say so far because we have another day coming up next year which is set to be just as magical, the gift of our 'little one' to be...

We've always been keen and ready to have children but decided to wait until we were more 'set up'. As currently we are building a house and already it's taken a year and a month just to have brickwork done and this week (3rd of Nov) they've only just started on the roof...granted it's a two storey home but a year to do that much is crazy...(welcome to building in Perth, Western Australia...ho hum).

I'm also a teacher and one of those weird people who absolutely loves their job. It's my tenth year teaching which also means I'm entitled to long service leave next year which is perfect timing! I must admit I've got the fun subject of music to teach at two schools north of Perth. I'm the general music teacher (not the instrumental music teacher who takes selected groups of students) I take all classes for two music lessons a week (and provide their classroom teacher with planning time off) we do all sorts of things from playing many percussion instruments, to singing and dancing, to creating our own music and movements, to reviewing music of the moment and beyond. For three days it's music and then the other two days I teach pre-primary students. It's a fantastic job and the kids at both schools are gorgeous. I'm hoping that after 'our little one' is born and a year old I'll be able to go back to work two days a week (while bub spends a day with the grandparents) and then slowly see what happens but gosh that's so far away at the moment we'll just take it day by day for now.

Our only concerns at the moment...

Late 2006 we were given the news that my dad's health was not good at all (it was surprise out of the blue for us) September 06 he was given 4 weeks to 4 months left (which hit us for a six). However if you've noticed what month we're in now, he's still with us and proved them wrong. My dad is doing really well and has some fantastic doctors in his corner (and no doubt someone up above as well).

The next sign for us to stop trying to plan everything and just let life happen instead (not wait till you're set up) came in May 2007 when Cameron's dad was rushed to hospital after a seizure at work only to discover he had a category 4 brain tumour which since has been removed but he is still on chemo tablets as his medication. The bizzarre thing is both our dad's hardly ever needed to see doctor's and are the same age with a few days apart 2&5 Jan 1949. This had been the biggest wake-up call for us ever and we immediately took a different look on life and had started trying in March 07 eventually falling in August which I now realise is something never to be taken for granted, it is the best gift in the world and we are so grateful.

Everyone is doing well and was over the moon (to put it mildly) when we told them the news of a new edition to our family. Therefore yes our home probably wont be finished by the time our "little one" arrives but it amazingly doesn't bother us as we have so many exciting things ahead of us and we're looking forward to it all and are just grateful for everyday.

Now so far that's been the short story in a nutshell could you imagine the long version (gee I can waffle on hey?)

Upcoming events...

Our ultrasound on Tuesday 13th November 07 where we will be able to see our "Little one" clearly we hope...exciting is word I keep over using but it just sums it up.

Latest Update 5th Jan 2008...

Well since I last updated my page we have had two ultrasounds which is just the most amazing technology ever. I really felt like I was pregnant after seeing that screen...wow it's like nothing I'd ever imagined when it actually happens to you.

Our second scan we had on Christmas Eve and what a present. It was wonderful to see little feet, hands and fingers. However our little bub was camera shy and kept putting it's hands up to it's face, it was the most magical feeling. I kept laughing at little things it did and accidently kept moving the picture because of my stomach moving it was tricky to keep still and contain that emotion but wow what a feeling I nearly cried the first time I heard the heart beat (what a wooze hey? lol).

Cameron doesn't want to know girl or boy yet and wants a suprise on the day to add to the whole emotion of it all. I'll be grateful for either just a healthy and happy bub is what I'm aiming for so therefore we will have a suprise gosh I can't wait for May to come along...

Every now and then especially when I'm lying down on my back I can feel it move. Sometimes it's like a grapefruit shape clearly sticking out all over to one side then slowly changes and moves elsewhere. I've also felt a few little kicks or knocks which at first I thought was wind gurgling or popping inside my stomach but now know it wasn't ... most of the time though it's very quiet in there I hope that's normal ....

Well I think that's enough for my page at the moment...till next time

23 weeks Pregnant at a friends wedding at Caversham House and wearing highish heels which is a no no but I survived (ha ha) we even managed to dance in them :)

7th of May 2008

Well haven't been on the internet for quite a while lately as our family has had some pretty hard issues to deal with, which there must be reasons for but just hard to see at times like this. As my father in law passed away suddenly in the early hours on the 24th of april. He really looked like he was making heaps of improvement and definately no signs of going downhill if anything more recovering and we all including him had heaps of hope. He so wanted to meet his first grandchild as we wanted to spend as much time as possible with both our families once our little one is born. The only positive we can see is that he wasn't in pain and it was very quick for him and he wouldn't have known he missed meeting the baby but we believe he is now watching over it already... just so hard to understand. I know he will help and quide me and Cameron through what is to come as our little one is still breech and has been the whole time we suspect, also it has settled down into my pelvis so that I am now booked for a ceasarean on the 14th May which I'm very nervous about but it is the best decision (even though it is the only decision). My emotions have been like nothing I've ever felt ... all over the place but we are all looking forward to finally meeting our little bub who we all quietly know will have my pop and father in law watching over us all.

We will definately let everyone know this time next week about the little person soon to join our family and thank you all for all your care and support in all issues which has really helped me during this pregnancy...till next update ....

Hi Kel,
All is going well. We were in Fiji last week for our last 'baby-free' holiday, so that was really lovely...We just did a lot of nothing and in 5 days I got to read 4 books, so I was pretty happy. I am getting so big now and we are having un watching Bubba kick from the outside....It is strange though! Still got morning sickness and now I have the terrible hunger back again too - can't win!!! Hope all is well with you and being back fulltime at work is not too stressful! xxx

aussiemum - Tuesday, 5 Feb
Hey Kel just thought I would drop you a line, we had our 19 week scan today and found out it's a little girl! I was telling our cat Merlin that he's getting a little sister and wondered how Zari is going with all this and what the trainer had to say. Hope you are well, your photos look great. I am only just starting to really show and still don't look really pregnant... impatient for it to happen!

no problem.. most of the time chat is a very friendly..happy and addicting place... I have made many wonderful friends there!
My husband has 2 kids (both girls)..from a previous relationship..so he was the one wanting to know the sex of the baby.. finally he talked me into it.. and so glad he did...lol. I couldnt imagine finding out and trying to keep it a secret from hubby.. or him finding out and not telling me. I would just look at his face and know... I am proud of people that can actually waite to find out until he or she is born... it takes a lot of will power..lol. Have you guys thought of names yet?. we dont have one for my little guy yet.. but each day we become closer to figuring it out..lol.
well hope you have a wonderful day.. keep me updated on your pregnancy.. :)

Hey no problem. We were glad you could get on and try it out. You will find a lot of support not only on this site but in that chat room as well. That and we like to joke around a lot. Yes it is very exciting I also find it very scary. I mean the baby has to come out some time. Heheheh. Anyways hope you have a great week and have a healthy and strong pregnancy.

Hi Kel Hope you are keeping well? Caversham House is beautiful..I went to wedding there last year..I'm sure you will have a great time. Hopefully it wont be too hot. We went to a wedding on the Australia Day wekend 7 yaesr ago and it was 40 degrees...it was a church wedding...I could have died! So are you going back to work for Term 1?

christie78 - Sunday, 20 Jan
Hi Kel, Sorry I have not replied. I still have not managed to collect our video. I have gone past a few times but everytime I do they are shut - even suring the day???? As for feeling sick,. it has not been fun but today so far so good. Very achy and no energy but I think maybe I am on the mend? I hope so as Dave and I go to Fiji next week for a pre-baby getaway and I really was looking forward to it - worried I will be told I can't go! How are things with you? This week we were planning on spending the weekend doing baby things, but due to the illness, just a lot of sorting through piles of paperwork and boring stuff - getting organised rather than doing the fun stuff....Hopefully we may even take down our Christmas tree today too! Hope all is well....speak soon xx

hey thanks for the message about my nursery, it took us a while to get it done, but heaps proud of the effort from my husband sean who did it. The rocking chair we bought from Toys R Us we were pretty lucky to get it at half price in a sale they had, we paid $250. Its a really nice chair and it also rotates around and reclines back and the foot stool rocks too. Congratulations on your pregnancy you both sound like a really nice couple and have been together as long as me and sean. Thanks again for the comment hope everything goes really well. Keep in touch, cheers hayley

You know its funny, I didn't know when I conceived with my 5th and I was 10 days out, so technically he came 10 days late, the last babe, was 8 days late, but I think I stuffed up there as well. My other children, first was a week late, but he was posterior and my first, 2nd was 3 days early, third was 2 weeks early, 4th was 1 week early...
You just never know what is going to happen, those wee ones come when they are ready, that is for sure, lol!
Thank you for getting in touch with me hun
Hugs Niki

Thanks for your well wishes Kel, isn't this a great little community. The internet makes the world a very small place! It's great to meet some other aussies on here. Your dog is beautiful! Is he/she allowed inside? I have been doing some reading as we have a (indoors only) cat (Merlin). I read that you should make the baby's room off limits to the animal for a while before baby arrives so they get used to the idea. We are going to put a screen door on the baby's room which was a suggestion I read on the net. It's easier to train a dog that she's not allowed in there though. Apart from that just give Zari plenty of attention in her own right, introduce her to the baby early on when they are both in a quiet mood, let her have a sniff and I am sure after all the headlines lately you don't need to be told to always supervise as a precaution. I'm sure they will be the best of friends, I grew up with dogs and never thought I'd get a cat but here we are! I am sure you have already looked on the net too for information on this topic, there is lots out there. Good luck, looking forward to keeping in touch.

Hi there, congrats on your pregnancy, it is so lovely to meet you!

kristentipton - Friday, 11 Jan
It was $54.00 here and I thought that that was too much for me to buy it for myself... I love it though! We call him Snoog! ;) Weeeeeee

sarahj - Friday, 11 Jan
Hey Kelly How are you and bub? That is so great that you are waiting for a surprise, Shaun and I were both way too impatient! I bet you had a great time in Mandurah at Chrissy, we hope to get down there in a couple of weeks (the Australia day long weekend), my parents have a holiday home on the canals at Port Bouvard so its always nice to get down there to relax. Jackson is doing really well...thanks for asking...in the last week he has mastered crawling and pulling to stand up on the furniture...uh oh...time to baby proof lol. You must be so excited..especially now you are over 1/2 way..have you thought of any names you like? xx

eriksmommy - Friday, 11 Jan
Congratulations

As soon as you told me about the ultrasound, I checked out the tape and it did not work. I have just called them and I can collect a new one tomorrow, so I may see you there again! I think you were there a few minutes before me on Christmas Eve, cos I did not see twins or anything and it sounds like we took your seats along the wall! Too funny....

danish-girl - Wednesday, 9 Jan
Hi! I still sleep on my back which I never used to do much, but for some reason I cant sleep on my stomach any longer :) I am sure that once it gets too uncomfortable (painfull, reflux etc.) you will fnd other ways to sleep.

Good luck with everything!

:-) Lina

Hi, no there's no weight recorded on my scan pictures.. but 9-10 oz is supposed to be 'normal' weight for 20 weeks. I wouldn't worry though - baby's grow in spurts, and i'm sure yours will have another growth spurt soon, they're growing constantly! : )

christy33 - Sunday, 6 Jan
Congrats on your pregnancy!! I know how exciting a time it is, especially when your expecting your 1st, wondering what that little one will look like and whos color eyes they'll have! What an amazing time in your life! You both look very happy, God bless you!!

foxxy76 - Sunday, 6 Jan
hey kel,all is going well here. How are you going ? im sure Zari will be a great family pet,my ridge was about 4 years old when i had my 1st child, so by the time they were able to be around eachother, Zulu had matured alittle but i think the dog did knock the kids over once or twice.I think one of the major things to teach a big dog is that its a major no no to jump upon anyone unless its told to do so with hand gestures and be told no when the dog decides it wants to do that. i dont know if thats making any sense lmao but im trying hahaahaha. My partner and i are definately going to find out lol cos i am very impatient. i am hoping for a boy because of my son being the only boy on both sides of the family and im hoping for a girl because girls love their daddies as this will be the 1st child for my partner . as long as the baby is healthy thats all i care about. my son had complications when he was born he was in special care for 10 days that was quite scarey for me.so yes a healthy baby and home within a day would be really good this time round.oh and you know how i said that my partner has a pitbull well she is staying here for a week or two because MIL is going away and needs a break but she is adorable and she can stay outside cos she loves couches and beds and knows no bounderies....anyways i must go take care and speak soon.

christie78 - Sunday, 6 Jan
OK, this is crazy! We were there at 11:30! We got a video but as yet have not tried to play as we do not have a VCR (just DVD)....Going to Mum's and Dad's as they have a dual one that can copy it to DVD for us....I will let you know if it worked....Decorating is th fun bit. We are having a girl but painting a mural on the wall that has sky and grass in it....currently, we just have sky so we have a blue nursery wall....Feels very 'male-like'! I will let you know re: video....Where abouts do you live again? We are in Leederville

christie78 - Saturday, 5 Jan
Oh too funny!!!! We are at St Johns with Dr Aitken in Subi, but we too go to Dr Murphy and were there on Christmas Eve too.....Maybe we crossed paths? All is going well for us also, and aside from morning sickness, pregnancy is lovely. We are painting the nursery this weekend, so that is exciting. I can't believe you aren't finding out the gender, I am jealous....I could not possibly hold off and had to know, but I envy those that get the surprise on the day....I sadly am not disciplined enough to wait! Hope you are enjoying a relaxing weekend....talk soon x

foxxy76 - Friday, 28 Dec
Hey Kel,my ridgeback passed away a few years ago she was 10 years old. which is a decent age for a ridge.as for any tips on dogs and babies just becareful, zulu my ridge was pretty obedient, i didnt 100% trust her i was always outside with the kids, she was an outside dog.I just read an article a 4 week old baby was killed by a rotty in pakenham which is 1 hour away from me.scarey stuff but google it and you will freak how it happened.i dont have a dog but my partner has left his pitbull at his mothers and she can stay there lol, i would love another ridgeback they are a great dog.how old is your ridge ? as for introducing the ridge to the baby , let your ridge smell the baby while you are holding the baby (something like that ) i think it would be best to read up on professional information.oh goodness feels like im typing an essay lol i dont know wether or not im blabbing on but here goes im gonna click the send it button.

sarahj - Friday, 28 Dec
Hey Kel, Thanks for stopping by and saying Hi...and congratulations on your pregnancy! How has it been so far? You're right in saying that West Aussies are few and far between on the site, I have been on here for well over a year and have seen hardly any Aussies (let alone West Aussies). I have met some wonderful people on here though and a bunch of us, keep in regular contact...they are all in the States though. Glad that you found a way to keep cool the last few days, I found Chrissy and Boxing days hot enough...and I'm not even pregnant. We were lucky enough to be staying in suites at the Burswood, so we kept pretty cool. Wow, so you are due in May, thats not too far away really...you'll be surprised time will fly. When do you have your 20week scan, will you find out what you are having? Look forward to hearing from you. Sarah xxx

christie78 - Thursday, 27 Dec
Oh, I forgot!!! We had our 20 week scan early on Xmas Eve as the docs is closed for holidays too....it was amazing. I can't remember which surgery you were going to (clearly, I forgot you were in Perth cos I told you the weather here....sorry), but if they do 3d you will be so happy! We saw her little face and my gosh...she looks just like my finace! Her bone structure was identical....It is so nice to get an idea of what your baby looks like and I could not asked for clearer pics too! Good luck with your next scan! xxx
