I'm Pregnant . . .Yeah!

About me: I am sort of a newlywed, being married only 7 months. We are extremely excited about being pregnant and knew we would start a family soon after tying the knot. My husband and I are teachers and he coaches year-round (at least for now . . . ) This is my second marriage and his first. I have a daughter from my first marriage and she can't wait to find out if she is having a little brother or sister. Before her, I had two miscarriages and one after and therefore am slightly apprehensive about pregnancy all together but I feel God is watching over me and this pregnancy will be great.

Update: Tuesday, February 19, 2008

We went for an ultrasound on Monday and we got to see our little peanut! I dated 6 weeks and 5 days which is exactlly right according to my lmp. We could see the heart beat and it was going strong at 120 bpm. Does that sound about right to everyone? Anyone else had an ultrasound? I was so happy to see the heartbeat! I know I'm not out of the woods yet but I also know that is a really good sign!

Update: Friday, February 22, 2008

I'm sick! I'm sick if I eat and sicker if I don't . . . yuck!

Update: Thursday, March6, 2008

Well, I'm 9 weeks now and getting very excited. My morning sickness has increased the last few days, which is a good sign, but still very hard to deal with since I work full time and own a photography company. Life is wonderful but so hectic and I'm just so tired all the time! My house is a mess because I have no energy to clean or do laundrey or anything! I had to laugh when my husband came walking through the house in his boxer shorts asking if he had any pants clean for work . . . I know, it's sad. Anyone else this tired?

Update: Monday, March 17, 2008

So excited! I went to the doctor today and he could hear the heartbeat at about 160 bpm! That just made my week! With my daughter he couldn't hear it until 14 weeks which was scary. Yeah! My husband is just being silly but swearing now he'll be in a house full of women.

Update: Friday, April 11, 2008

So far so good. 14 weeks and counting! Last week I went for my NT Screening and got to see our little "porkchop" (thats what my 5 year old calls the baby) bouncing around and waving with a heartbeat of 164 bpm. That was really exciting. Then a few days later was my regular check up and I had gained a total of 6 pounds, which is driving me nuts, but the baby sounded good with the heartbeat around 156 bmp. I am starting to really pooch out and I need about 500 extra dollars to go on a shopping spree! Nothing fits good; not maturnity clothes, not regular clothes, nothing. Ah, the life of a pregnant woman . . . but you've got to love it. Oh, and I also think I may have felt the baby yesterday, I'm not positive though.

Update: Monday, May 5, 2008

I am having the best pregnant day I've had so far and felt I should tell everyone! Today is the start of teacher appreciation week and when you teach in a high school that normally goes unnoticed. However, my 9th grade Honors English students truly showed their appreciation by throwing me a surprise baby shower! They had another teacher ask me to watch her class for a couple minutes and while I was gone decorated the whole room in streamers, balloons, and banners! They had all pitched in and bought cupcakes, chips, pop and a huge baby cake that was beautifully decorated! One student hand made the baby a fleece blanket and another blanket for my five-year-old daughter. Another bought a Liz Claiborne leather purse! The class went together and, with the help of a surgeon parent, bought an Italian (white) Leather Franco Sarto diaper bag! I couldn't get over the generosity of these kids and it brightened my day so much I really wanted to share! Also, the baby is moving ALL the time and when we went for our ultrasound there was no cooperation and we won't try again for another 3 weeks.

I'll let you know I promise. I am only going to the doc this day next week, so after being back at work for 4 days it'll probably but after shooting up again..ha ha!! I never heard anyone saying stress DOESN'T affect bp. Of course it does. My friend had her 2nd baby in March and she spent 4 months off work before the baby was born on doctors orders. Maybe you need to get a 2nd opinon?? Remember it's not just you that you have to be worried about, you have another little person inside of you.

mimty - Thursday, 15 May
I have been put off work this week with high bp, like yours 140. It's my first child and I think the doc thinks I was a bit stressed out and wants to see if it has gone down after my few days off. To be honest I feel worse now than I did last week so I'm not sure. i have been getting really bad headaches as well. Do you get those?? Maybe as you had pe the first time they are just being extra cautious this time...

Thanks for responding. My doctor played it off really nonchalantly and just breezed past the word incompetent cervix so I didn't think anything of it until I got home and googled it. Don't google incompetent cervix b/c it's just page after page of horror stories about 2nd trimester miscarriage and months of bed rest and premies. I'm not one to call my doctor (I guess I'd rather be a dummy and stew in my own worries) but I decided to and she again reassured me that I don't have an incompetent cervix, they just want to watch me closely. Someone else responded and said that their doctor said it really only matters how much cervix was removed during the leep and if you've had multiple leeps. I think we'll both be totally fine but yes, please keep me updated and I will do the same.

New sexy pregnant

bobbette89 - Tuesday, 6 May
well we do have even more in common! we dont have wrestling in our schools around here, or i bet that would be my hubby's 3rd choice. he only has to coach 2, football is the main one! he is a football nut! been crazy about it since he was 4 or 5 yrs old and played football from that age all the way thru college. then started coaching it in college and ended up changing his major from chemical engineer (only lacking 18 hrs to finish that degree) to interdisciplinary sciences and got a teaching degree. teaching and coaching is sure WAY less $$$ than the chem engineer degree but he is doing what he loves! he is in the process of going to graduate school to get his master's in education supervision, so he can be a principal one day. he will be finished by this fall but i dont see him sitting behind a desk just yet. that is why he isnt a chemical engineer, LOL. when he gets older, he will have
several options to fall back on anyway.

and yes i did have early contractions with the pregnancy, they started at about 17 wks! i STILL have them, but as of yet they've not made me dilate or anything.
they just feel like my tummy getting REALLY hard and it makes me uncomfortable and short of breath. sometimes they start in my back and move around to the front. at first when i was abt as far as long as you, they would start down low just above my pubic bone and slowly move up, just like reg contractions just not nearly as painful as real labor contractions... my dr just says they are braxton- hicks contractions and if you've been pregnant before; we seem to feel them sooner. he says some women dont even feel them! thats weird for me to believe. bc u can def feel a difference and if someone touches your tummy they can feel the hardness.
the contractions also make it harder for me to breathe while i am having them-i get very short of breath.... mine have been very consistent at times-like 2-3 min apart for over an hr, but they havent as of last thurs, made any changes to my cervix.
some of my friends on here say that their OB dr wants them to call or come in if they have nore than 5 in an hrs time as sometimes those kind can start making changes in your cervix.
i STIll have them ALL of the time for the past 20 wks and i am still the same down there. so idk, just ask your OB dr at your next visit. i had the pleasure of having one when i saw my dr 8 or so weeks ago as i was going back to lay on the table, i told him, he felt my belly and he was like 'Yep, that's def a contraction...' he checked me vaginally then and did a transvag U/S and my cervix hadnt changed a bit.
so TRY not to worry about them, its just our bodies and uterus' getting ready way ahead of time. pretty much what used to be called 'false labor' but i do think u should mention it to your dr next time you go, just to be safe....

also try to stay VERY hydrated, my contractions are worse/more freq when i havent been drinking enough. and try to drink tons of water it everyday. i have alspo had a friend that her dr told her it a sign of being dehydrated as the baby is taking so much from us. so try really hard to drink water constantly!
i hope this helped you....sorry it got so long!
any more ???'s i will answer to the best of what i know or have already been through-do dont hesitate to ask me, i am not shy :)
oh and i also started feeling this baby move sooner than expected, i was like 12 wks the first time i felt something. my mom swears it was gas, but i know it was the baby! and now he is so big, he kicks, punches and gets under my ribs all the time!
good luck hun and keep in touch!
(((hugs))) bobbette

Congrats
u sound a little like me. i married a teacher/coach and we started trying soon after we got married. we lost the pg d/t miscarriage-But conceived 6 wks later. Now I am nearing the end of the pregnancy, i onlyhave a matter of 2-3 wks left! its been a complicated pregnancy but i wouldnt trade it for any other. i think its helped me love and adore this little miracle growing in me even more. i have 2 other sons from prev marriage, and hubby had never been married. he was my oldest sons freshman football coach 3 yrs ago as i was going through a horrible divorce that was almost over. we started talking in aug-sept and went out the first time in oct and have been together every since. we got married the next sept of 2006-- he is my soulmate. God sent him to my boys and esp me. i was the mom and dad and everything in my last marriage. he is so good to me. i love him more than i can explain and i know he loves me just the same. dont know how i did it w/out him or what i'd do w/out him now. he is precious a good man!
God knew what he was doing when he put our paths together!
so of course he is ticked we are having a BOY. #3 for me. i am still not 100% i dont want to try for a little girl, even tho i am getting OLD and have had so much problems w/ this pregnancy...this will prob be the caboose though!
i wish you all the best and your family. take care and keep in touch! sorry i wrote so much, just thought it was neat u r married to a coach too. btw my lhubby coaches football and track and teaches physics and chemistry!
hope we can correspond-best of everything to you and family (((hugs))) bobbette (sorry again for blabbering....)

Ya the website I go to says 5 months is 18-22 too so I just say Im in my 5th month but ppl always say you're not 5 months til you are 20wks but I read that you are already 2 weeks pregnant before you really get pregnant lol its kinda weird and confusing so I just say 5 lol.

njgal - Thursday, 1 May
Thanks for the feedback! Actually, i have gained 20 lbs, so trust me, i don't think you can feel any worse! I feel HUGE already, it is my first, but you know, i guess the growth spur can happen at any time!

ericankyle - Thursday, 1 May
AHHHH I would be sooo impatient as well. :( I keep thinking that is gonna end up happening to us as well. We go at 19 weeks and 1 day. I cannot wait. Heck, I'm already impatient. lol Let me know how it goes in a few weeks! Good Luck!

ourfirstone - Thursday, 1 May
Sorry they couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl. Glad to hear that they said the 'low' was normal. That makes me feel better. I'm sure I'll have to wait until 22 weeks for my next ultrasound too....I can't wait. Seems like things are going so slow right now! But, I'm sure we'll look back and say it flew by!

ourfirstone - Wednesday, 30 April
Exact same thing w/ me and the doppler. The heartbeat is about an inch above my pubic line....From everything I've read, the uterus should be a few inches higher than that by now. Kinda makes me nervous. I'll be interested to hear how your dr's appointment goes. I can't tell where my uterus is either. Trying to 'feel' for it, but I can't tell. Can you?

ericankyle - Wednesday, 30 April
Yay!! Have fun tomorrow!!!! :) It makes me smile so big everytime I see that someone is getting to go see what they are having!! *and jealous* hehe :)

sharra - Monday, 28 April
Hey, thanks for your response- I agree. well said. Yes, my daughter would love to know and be my little helper. she has been under the impression that I just have a tummy ache and she is doing so much to help my belly, like rubbing it and bringing me a cup of tea. They are sooooo darm cute- thank God for children. I learn so much from her. Best of luck to you as well. Take care.

Hi there! As crappy as it sounds, if you cut out salt from your diet you will drop a lot of weight (especially the swelling like in your face). If you can't cut it out completely, just cut back. Salt causes you to hold on to water weight and causes a lot of swelling, especially in feet and fingers and such. Well hope you get everything under control! My problems are the opposite lol, I have only gained about 2 pounds but my tummy is huge already! Good luck

jlynn - Friday, 25 April
I have also gained 11 pounds and I think I am eating pretty healthy. The only thing I eat a lot of is cheese. I eat salads and turkey meat, chicken, soy milk, veggies, eggs, corn tortillas, and yogurt. I am not sure but I am always hungry and I definately eat more than I did before I got pregnant. i was 119 when I got pregnant. I will probably weigh 162 when I deliver. I gained 40 pounds with my first but it all came off in 3 months. : ) i think everyone is different. My girlfriend only gained 5 pounds in the first 6 months of her pregnancy. By the time she delivered she had gained 25 pounds total. hate her. : ) just kidding. You will be fine.

Courtney H.ItaliaBrit - Thursday, 24 April
I have been eating veggies and fruit a lot.
I have gained about 7lbs Try to eat healthy foods..(even though we all crave that yummy fast food.)I know its hard but i think eating veggies, fruit, lean meats, (salmon,Chicken breast..Pork chops) well help gain the right amount of weight instead of gaining those few extra lbs. I eat fat free cottage cheese a lot it's pretty much tasteless but i know thats something that will keep unwanted weight off but give the baby amount of food/nutrients needed.I hope this helps a little.i gained 40ibs with my first and after i had her i was 120lbs..(my original weight was 105) all i ate was fat free cottage cheese and i lost the weight.

i took the test last week and it said boy, and thats what i have suspected from the beg! i cant wait to find out if it was right!

Hi there I am from week 13 but I jumped ahead and read your comment...I am just wondering what is the intelligender test and where can I find it?

agonzales - Tuesday, 15 April
I also took the intelligender test before and it said girl. At my last u/s we saw what looked like boy parts but doc said it was still early to be sure so I'll be finding out soon. Majority of the women on here told me it was wrong for them. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
