Hello, I have been reading this site for a while now (since I was 12 weeks!) and finally have had the chance to put my details on. I've had a busy few months, my husband and I quit our jobs, moved to Scotland and started new jobs! I haven't had a lot of time to think much about being pregnant but I really am enjoying it and am now ready to start concentrating on the baby. We don't know what we are having yet (it's our first) so it will be a big surprise in June. We conceived natuarally after trying for a year and finding out I was having problems ovulating so we were expecting to have to go through a big ordeal... then suddenly it happened. So for the TTC'ers life can surprise you! Looking forward to hearing from you all X Kim.

Wednesday, 30 April also, i'm having a waterbirth which i know will help a lot. Surprisingly enough, there's a hospital here that offers that.. and i have a great midwife :) tangerina -
Wednesday, 30 April yeah, i'm reading it now... it's AWESOME!! i love that book! of course, i'm a little biased because i want to be a midwife, but man, like you.. i had so many fears that the book was able to put to rest. And i've learned so much on how to at least gear my birth experience in the direction i want. I particularly liked the chapter about the sphincter law and the one about the vagina... those i think will help me the most. I'm taking the book to the hospital so my husband can read me the stories in between contractions! goonieMomma -
Monday, 28 April Re your question on the waterbirth issue. Go to YouTube and sign up for an account; you'll have to verify that you're mature enough to watch the videos, but they've got lots on waterbirths! The main concerns 1st timers have with it are: poo in the water (a good midwife or birthing center will use a fish-net like thing to scoop discretely) and baby drowning- which doesn't happen as the umbilical cord is in water- only "shuts down" supply from you when exposed to air- so baby can be underwater for a minute or so as you transition into being a mommy! Stop by MumofSix's page- she's done a waterbirth and plans another. She's got tons of info and is suuuuper open to questions! Good luck!
